Stripes Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 I wonder if Harrison's hunger to face the Steelers was strong enough that he was swayed entirely by the two primetime games against them. Quote
TJJackson Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 Better be vet min plus incentives only, signing bonus for him was/is opportunity to play Steelers, he needed no cash in addition to sign Quote
COB Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 Dude is on a runaway train destined for the DL. I just hope his attitude doesn't rub off on the younger guys on the defense during the short time he's actually on this team. Quote
volcom69 Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 According to Hobson Harrison called Marvin after he was cut, so I guess this was something in the works for awhile now. Guess will see how it works out, guess Harrison will bring some attitude with him, just hope it's some good attitude. Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 Didn't want him In stripes, don't expect much from him other than some bad penalties to go along with his bad attitude and at least a couple of injuries. This caps a really bad FA period. Hope the draft goes better.Who are you and what have you done with the real RBB? I agree. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 20, 2013 Author Report Posted April 20, 2013 LB is better now than it was two hours ago.Fine by me.Would have preferred Dansby, but this is where I am as well.Just go kill Big Jen in primetime !!! Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 If you are not following @BengalDarrin tonight you are missing out! He's retweeting every Pitt fan who has now decided Harrison is a piece of crap and always has been. Laff riot. It was worth signing him just for this. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 20, 2013 Author Report Posted April 20, 2013 Actually, after thinking about it further I am really not at all upset. We picked up a player that will certainly be motivated, has knowledge of what the Steelers do on the defensive side of things, and won't keep us from drafting another LB. I saw comments about how the Bengals won't be taking a LB early now that Harrison has signed, but I don't believe that's the case at all. With both Harrison and Rey on two year deals, there's nothing saying either of them will be here longer than this season. What do they have after them ?? Maybin ?? Moch ?? Yeah, they can certainly draft a LB high and have him learn, while getting snaps. Are there concerns with his age and scheme fit ?? Sure, but if Zimmer thinks Harrison will fit what he wants from him, i'm ok with it.I understand why some are unhappy, but I offer Zimmer as the reason to feel better about it.We do still like Zimmer right ?? Quote
wpeldios Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 I do not like this fit of harrison at all. He is a career 3-4 pass rusher who made his living off an over aggressive style of attacking. Zimmers system is a 4-3 system that is predicated on gap control and staying home. He may occasionally flash or make a couple big sacks, but i just see this as a player who will have more bad plays than good ones for this team. Would have paid a lot more for Dansby personally. That said, he is better than Lawson, and much much better than Maybin, who i think most of you underestimate how bad he is. Quote
GapControl Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 Harrison signing doesn`t do much for me. I would have much preferred us to improve saftey and the running game rather than getting a 35 year old LB. Smells like Jr Seau in Miami to me. Quote

ArmyBengal Posted April 20, 2013 Author Report Posted April 20, 2013 I think it's just to difficult to say what he will or won't be with the defense Zimmer runs. It's to easy to simply look at scheme and say "It won't work."Again, i'm not saying this was my preferred (see Dansby) but I won't simply hate it for the sake of hating Harrison. The guy has been a douche with some of his actions off the field, but players always looked at him as a leader. His intensity will be a welcomed thing in the LB corps, where all it prior to his signing resided in Burfict. Quote
membengal Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 We have a decided opening for a LB who can follow this direction..."Kill the quarterback". I am pretty confident that Harrison can still follow that direction. See the last 8 games of last year for the Steelers. Quote
Sea Ray Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 Any word yet on terms for Harrison's contract? Quote
skyline Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 I wanted Dansby, but if Zimmer and Marvin think this can work, then I'm all on board. We finally got a linebacker in Burfict who knows what it means to attack and now we've got two of them. My big concern is Harrison's health, but if he can stay on the field then I'm confident that Zimmer can use his skill set properly. My preference would be for them to draft a stud rookie at the position which would allow them to use Harrison sparingly and in situations that he seems to excel in. Quote
skyline Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 I think this bit from Hensley sums it up nicely,The difference with Harrison is he comes with a mean streak and swagger than Dansby doesn't have. I'm not saying Harrison is the missing piece in the Bengals' championship puzzle. But he will make them better for at least this year, when he is intent on proving to everyone that he can still make an impact. I like this move. Or maybe I just don't want to tick off Harrison and become Target No. 2 behind Roethlisberger. Don't tick him off, Hoosier, or you may be next. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 20, 2013 Author Report Posted April 20, 2013 And there you go. I'm right there. He doesn't keep us from drafting someone. He's not a lock to start every game. He's not a lock to last more than this season. He's better than Lawson was and whatever else we have on the roster at the SAM spot. HaydenM Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 There are actually people on here who wanted Dansby over Harrison???Come on, man! That's just silly. Quote

GapControl Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 if we are going to talk about about ridiculous how about getting a 35 year old LB when a team has no number 2 receiver, a s**tty offensive line, and a running back who cant cut Quote

semiotter Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 Harrison is still got the goods to help the Bengals win....he gets called for some of his hits but he still has what it takes to help the Bengals.... Quote
