AMPHAR Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 Trey gets $20mil a 1/3 of the deal in year 1. Sure he could get cut by the 5th day of the league year in 2022 but its likely he'll earn 44% of the deal by next March and then on the path of earning 53% at the start of the season. $32m which beats the reported Lawson guaranteed amount. His realistic risk is year 3 because the base salary is 9.8m and about $10m cap savings if he isn't performing. But if he makes it past 5th day of new league year 2023 then it's another $13m. which is 75% of the value. Lawson contract details are not out there but his 3 year total is the same. $45m So there's a good chance they lost Lawson not on $$$ but rather on the word guarantee and 4th year. I'm not sure how 90% funny money comes about he'll have a 1/3rd of the contract earned this year. 1 Quote
COB Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 It looks like they basically traded Lawson for Hendrickson. I’m fine with that, I don’t trust Lawson’s health. what I’m not done with is the Bemgals letting this historic free agency period pass without filling some obvious needs. Look at who has been very active in this free agency period so far. Successful, well-run franchises like the Patriots, the Ravens, the Packers, etc. Due to Covid related salary cap slash, lots and lots of good players available. Quote
COB Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 Business schools will do case studies on the magic act that Bobby Hart’s agent has performed over these last few years. It’s amazing. 1 Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 In terms of actually sacking the QB, I'm hoping Trey is an upgrade to Lawson, in terms of QB pressures and re-directing plays, i'm not sure. So many needs on this team and they're just puttering along still. Quote
TJJackson Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 losing Lawson and replacing him with this guy from NO is not even at the level of treading water - its slowly drowning with the complete imbecilic failure to sign a single quality OL, they move from almost drowning to full on drowned and dead as far as I am concerned I dont really care that they are "in on" Hilton or whatever. They've already lost a battle where they had more troops and more guns than almost all of their opponents. This was the one field of battle where the Bengals distinctly held a dominant advantage......and they utterly fucking failed us, and they failed Joe Burrow Dont for a minute think Joe isnt watching all this, and wondering which body part will be ripped apart this coming year Quote
TJJackson Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 and now, with the signing of the Dallas CB, another thing becomes clear - Anarumo is converting this team - which has played man coverage for as long as I remember - to a zone coverage scheme which means that when Lou is finally fired at the end of the year, the incoming DC will have a great deal of damage to undo and relatively few cap dollars to do it thanks Lou for all you do 1 Quote
AMPHAR Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 Chidobe Awuzie come on down! Former 2nd rounder. A lot of starts and solid PFF musings. Bad year last year. A lot to like here. Quote
volcom69 Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 Guess I’ve lost touch with football I don’t even know who this guy is. Quote

membengal Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 The dallas CB they signed is really good. People here in Baltimore are mad because the Ravens lost Judon and Ngakwe. Pats spending like drunken sailors and their fans, who spent years making fun of teams who did that, now think its genius. FA for me hasn't started yet - they knew they had to keep or replace Lawson and WJIII - and they've replaced them. Comparable talent. Now they need to address actual needs. Oline. Interior dline. Nickle CB. WR. 1 Quote

HoosierCat Posted March 16, 2021 Author Report Posted March 16, 2021 Awuzie seems fine. Reading what Cowboy fans think of him, it sounds a lot like the conversation around WJ3 and Dre and Dennard here. Generally they aren’t upset to see him go, except for the fact they don’t have anyone better on the roster. https://cowboyszone.com/threads/awuzie-signs-with-bengals.474793/ Given how boom or bust Jackson was on any given snap, I suppose I’d rate this as another lateral move at best. At least it keeps our post-first round draft options open. Quote
membengal Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 I stand by this note from above: Quote FA for me hasn't started yet - they knew they had to keep or replace Lawson and WJIII - and they've replaced them. AMPHAR Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 I liked Jackson a lot. I thought he was underrated by Bengals fans. The two big blocks starting with FA was Lawson and Jackson. They must resign OR invest to a decent level to replace. They did. I like the longer term deals vs. franchising one of Lawson or Jackson. Now let's see if they can add a starter or two that fills a need. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 16, 2021 Author Report Posted March 16, 2021 This is a depressing trip down memory lane. Quote
