ArmyBengal Posted October 28 Report Posted October 28 The Bengals draft planning is the same as their play calling. HOPE AND PRAY !! It's nothing more than an exercise in catching lightning in a bottle. Here you go... what's more probable? Mims playing well because he was athletically gifted and the Bengals got lucky OR... Mims has been developed by Bengals coaching into a RT playing at an All Pro level ?? 1 Quote
TJJackson Posted October 28 Report Posted October 28 I usually like Sheerans takes, but he wants us to trade for a.......wide receiver https://atozsports.com/nfl/cincinnati-bengals-news/bengals-trade-proposal-colts-wide-receiver-josh-downs/ Itd be a one year rental as downs is in a contract year. Now that said if he were to be obtained then leaves after this year, he might earn us a comp 6 or 7 Quote

TJJackson Posted October 28 Report Posted October 28 13 minutes ago, ArmyBengal said: That take sucks. Agreed. Go big or go home I dont think trading for a wr3 moves the needle much Give me the running back......although......he seems like a much worse pass blocker than Brown is. Probably about the same as a reciver, and better as a pure runner. I tend to value the pass blocking (keeping New Guy clean) more than most folks, so unless this were to come at a bargain price with the Colts paying some of his 20m annual salary, i dont think we should do it So i dont see us making this trade Quote
Stripes Posted October 28 Report Posted October 28 There's nothing less useful to this Bengals team than a half-year rental at wide receiver. Burrow needs reps with a player to nail down their timing, and that just wouldn't happen with Downs. He'd do nothing. If there's a big trade coming, I would most desire a safety. Derwin James, anyone? The Jonathan Taylor rumors may be slightly on crack, but that'd be fun too. He'd certainly bolster the under-center game. Half the problem there is Burrow's reticence to turn his back, and half is Chase Brown being completely useless after contact. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted October 28 Report Posted October 28 When you have Gesicki effectively operating at WR3, why trade draft capital away for someone making a smaller impact? Look no further than the Ravens game as a real time example... After Chase and Higgins as the most targeted WR's on the team, you had 2 TE's and a RB, before you find even the 3rd WR (Tinsley) who had a catch for 7 yards. Chase Brown and the TE's are more involved than almost any other WR not named Chase and Higgins. They have Tinsley and Meyers along with rookie Colbie Young. Why bring on another WR that gets so little? That would be the kind of stupid move the Bengals WOULD make. Jonathan Taylor would be crazy interesting, but would cost a ton in both draft capital and cost. Quote
TJJackson Posted October 28 Report Posted October 28 Derwin James is a bit long in the tooth and he has a big guaranteed sack coming to him in 2027 and 2028 And hes injured and his grades are down Id be interested if he were released outright, but not in a trade largely based on his pre-2026 stats Dont get me wrong.....we could most definitely use an above average healthy safety right now. Emphasis on healthy ;-) I dont think anyone will trade for Derwin James, and i strongly suspect he becomes a cap casualty next year unless the Chargers pay his 2027 guarenteed money prior to a trade, making the dollar cost more palatable Quote

Mims has been developed by Bengals coaching into a RT playing at an All Pro level ?? Oh Mims is 100% luck. RT was the biggest hole in the team, Mims was the last tackle with a first round grade and it was a total need pick. That’s usually a recipe for disaster but this time it worked out. Quote
HoosierCat Posted October 28 Author Report Posted October 28 If the bengals make a trade I think the most likely spot would be DB. With Duggar out and Cook fighting injuries, safety is paper thin. At corner it looks like after getting a shot early, Tacario has slipped behind Newton in the pecking order. It wouldn’t take much to turn the secondary to mush. RB would be nice but I doubt they are willing to pay the cost in picks and $$$ for a top guy there. A better reserve option than Brooks? Yeah I can see that. Quote
TJJackson Posted October 28 Report Posted October 28 I agree that the most likely spot for an acquisition is db, preferring s over cb However, since they could move Dax to S, I look at it like get the best starter level player you can get at either spot, albeit financial terms (like the huge amount a declining derwin james is owed) have to be considered I see RB as a somewhat distant fourth need. But if an upgrade is available at a low cost, yeah, its certainly worth strong consideration Third need is linebacker. Army, i am fairly certain that LB will be a pick in either R1 or R2 in 2027. The other early pick should be an OLT, preferring a pass blocker over a run blocker. Quote
Stripes Posted October 28 Report Posted October 28 Ja’Marr isn’t practicing today. Hopefully vet rest. 1 Quote
TJJackson Posted October 28 Report Posted October 28 Can the nfl.gods make it so both teams lose in ravens vs bills? Pretty please? Quote

I’ve figured he isn’t at 100% given his muted production. I certainly have no problem with extra rest. Quote
HoosierCat Posted October 28 Author Report Posted October 28 Ja’marr can take the whole week off as far as I’m concerned. Not worried about his need for practice. Quote

COB Posted October 29 Report Posted October 29 I can’t see giving anything for a running back right now. Or any offensive position, other than LT. Our quarterback does not want to run the ball, and our last game legitimized his philosophy. If we trade for Jonathon Taylor, I guess we could frame him and hang him on the wall for all to admire, that’s about all the good it’ll do us. Since the chances of someone trading us a good LT are zero, I see no point in offense trade talks. Defense - a LB would be great, as you guys already noted, a DB would be great too. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted October 29 Report Posted October 29 I have zero thoughts of the Bengals making any trade by the deadline. It's just not what they do. People say, they've done it the last two years (Flacco and Herbert), but that is a rarity for them. Not only that, they don't give up much more than late round draft capital. Any talk of bringing in some all pro level talent is the equivalent of pissing up a rope. Get your hopes up that its going to happen and you end up all wet and angry. Maybe they shock the world. It could happen. I'm simply not betting on it. Oh and as much as I would rather them get something rather than having Stewart on the bench, they are trading him either. Certainly not for some late round pick. Despite appearances, they value their guys they take and won't give him away. Quote
COB Posted October 29 Report Posted October 29 Titans getting two firsts and a fourth from the Bears for Jeffrey Simmons. Is this dude their best player? wtf. That’s a huge price to pay, hope it works out for the Bears. Certainly welcome timing for us. Quote

ArmyBengal Posted October 29 Report Posted October 29 Happy to hear we won't have to face Simmons Sunday as he was their best defensive player for sure. Quote
Prophecy Posted October 29 Report Posted October 29 And the Bengals interior Oline all breathe a sigh of relief. Dexter Lawrence trade keeps looking better, considering Simmons cost 2 First Rd picks and a 4th/5th swap 1 Quote
