Figured I would throw this up since talk in the Ravens thread is turning to this game.

Classic trap game. Bengals are coming off a big win against a division rival, and are headed overseas for their first prime time game (and the start of three straight PT appearances) the week after.

Though they’re 1-6, Tennessee has been all over the board. It took a FG at the buzzer for the Clowns to beat them yesterday, and they gave the Eagles and Ravens fits, too.

If yesterday’s second half was an indication that the o has finally remembered how to play football, then the Bengals should romp. I’m expecting a win but won’t be surprised at all if they come out and lay an egg.

So our HC, Zac E. Coyote, Super-Genius, was asked about Shemar bring inactive against Baltimore.

https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/zac-taylor-shemar-stewart-being-215139822.html

Quote

Taylor noted that Stewart missed time with a knee injury he suffered this summer and said the second-year player is "doing all the right things," but got caught in a numbers game due to how much depth the team has up front on defense.

As the article goes on to note, the Bengals had 9 DL active Sunday. So that means our 7th rounder from last April, Landon Robinson, is 11th, one spot behind our 2025 first round pick.

Yep. Bust.

Ced Johnson had a good first 2 games, where has he been since? You telling me a first round guy like Stewert can’t get on the field of Johnson?

Also Burrow said it best in his press conference. Pretty much saying they came out trying things that they are not good at, and it’s not their strength. Theres to much talent on this offense to just get away from who they are. I think the run game might get going if they just stay true to who they are. Maybe I’m wrong, but use the pass to set up the run lol. Stop trying to be who you are not, and go be who you are!!

Its halves like that, it’s captains like Jamarr who at halftime motivates them to get back to there roots, that could really take this team deep! Keep it going!

Zac says Stewart is caught in a numbers game?  Supposedly dangling him league- wide for a trade, but how is another team supposed to justify giving up anyone close to a starter for a project guy who could take another couple seasons to really develop?  Doesn’t make sense.

I don't care if they trade Shemar for a bag of donuts at this point.
He makes NO impact.  Get something, anything at this point because it's clear the coaches don't want him.

Shemar Stewart, despite my curiosity about him in the draft was the definition of the Bengals being too cute.
No, that isn't restricted to the field and play calling.  People forget the Bengals had no pre draft meeting, no combine meetings, or use one of their top 30 visits on Shemar.  My best guess is they thought they would fool everyone by not paying any attention to him before drafting him to keep him off the radar.  Little did they know, he would be a healthy scratch come game day two years later.

Stewart is just another example of showing the Bengals have to absolutely get lucky in the draft, because they don't know what they are doing.

Lets see....  The Titans huh?

I'm not a fan of Cam Ward, but he isn't helped by his o-line either.
The Titans are blitzed less than any other team in the league and despite that, they rank #9 with Ward getting pressured 30% of the time.
When pressured Ward has 0 TD's and 3 INT's.  When not he has 4 TD's and 1 INT.
That right there should be something the Bengals should target heading into this game.

When it comes to the running game, it begins and ends with Tony Pollard.

Their defense is spotty at best.  They give up a ton in the run game and suck in the redzone.
The pass defense is better than the run, but they give up plays as well.
The defense gave up nearly 500 total yards to Cleveland last week.

If the Bengals don't get all fancy and shit trying to be cute, they win big.
If Zac shoves his head up his ass again, I could see a letdown and upset.
Not thinking that happens though.

Bengals- 27
Titans- 14

Personally I would raise an eye at Joe and say, you mean things you’re not good at, are not your strength and you don’t like, right? But he’s also not completely wrong either.

All that said, the Bengals tried to expand their repertoire because defenses had figured out the pass first offense and were beating the crap out of Burrow. If they want to go back to it, fine, but I hope they have new answers for the same old problems.

Yeah, knowing exactly what he was referring to would be helpful.
You mean going under center Joe?  That thing that was suppose to allow the offence to be more flexible and less predictable?
And if you aren't good at it, isn't that what practice is for?

I mean what aren't they good at in an offensive playbook he played a part in finalizing?
He's not referring to the play calling clearly.

Joe has always struck me as the "Give me 5 to protect and send everyone deep" kind of guy.
You could do that at LSU, because you had Ja'Marr, Justin and more going deep.  The talent isn't there across the board in college.
I love that mentality but it can clearly fall apart on the field.
At this level everyone is fast and knows what they are doing.

Well, except Shemar Stewart obviously.

You’re probably right I have no idea what he is really referring to, I just assumed the under center stuff lol. Either way hopefully they fixed whatever it is and we see whole games going forward like they had in the second half!!!

I just don't want to feel like we have to figure out who is more full of shit on this team, the players or the coaches.
The way they speak about shit in news conferences makes them almost pointless.

"Hey Joe, what do you think about your second half offense"?
"Well, we will need to go back and look at things and continue to get better".

"Those 35 unanswered points were really incredible".
"Well, we took what we were given and hope to continue, but we will look to improve next week".

It is a shame, but should have been predicted.  He had a knee blow out in college and spinal surgery as well.
There were enough red flags there to pass on the kid.  Had it not been for the injuries he would have gone higher than the 4th round.

He's a good dude though and glad he had the opportunity to chase his dream this far.
If he's done, I wish him the best of luck going forward.

JFC, the tv map is out and Columbus/central Ohio is not getting the bengals/titans game.  This is fucking bullshit and I do not give a fuck about the Browns/steelers game.  I’ll probably have to go to BW3 and eat their shitty food to be able to see our bengals.  These political ads are right, apparently, our country is going to hell in a hand basket!

The Bengals had 10 picks in 2023 and precisely one (1), Mims, was any good. It’s remarkable, really. You have to work to go 1 for 10. There’s “just throwing darts” (amateurs) and then there’s “PhD in Incompetence” (Bengals draft room).
