Spielberg is in the twilight of his career. It’s almost like he’s out of ideas. He remade West Side Story, very close to the original, then he remade one of his own movies as a musical. He may be a very serious fan of broadway plays, and is inspired to bring them to the big screen. I saw his “The Fablemans,” which was an autobiographical movie about his childhood. It was just ok. Then I saw him at the academy awards and as it failed to win any of the seven Oscar’s for which it was nominated, I saw something I’ve never seen. Spielberg looked genuinely disappointed, bordering on anger. He was always the coolest guy in any Hollywood room, but that time has clearly passed. I’d love to see him make some more blockbuster movies, but he seems just tired out.

I had to look it up, but Spielberg directed the first movie based on that book. Odd that he’s back with a musical adaptation.

Bowl games are taking on a new dimension of strangeness. Some teams show up in force, some teams show up with depth guys ready to rock after all their good players opt out or hit the portal. Like is the team we’re watching in the bowl even the same team that played in the regular season?

Ryan Day, please walk home from Dallas.

Browns put 34 on the board in the first half against a good Jets D. This league is a mystery sometimes. And you’re right Volcom, teams can aggressively makes moves to get better and I think the Bengals have not been as active in season as a lot of these teams.

I don’t want to sound like a dull broken record, but Al Michaels is a dull broken record.
-
I can’t tell if the browns’ offense is great, or if the jets forgot how to play defense.

Polka version of How Great Thou Art, one, two, three, four, hit it.

Yes, welcome Jay. By way of introduction, most of us get together and play in a gospel quartet every couple weeks. We dress up as bible figures for our shows, just to liven things up a little bit. TJ dresses up as Jesus most of the time. Jesus plays the keyboards. A typical show: TJ/Jesus is kicking back with dark glasses on. He goes, “Here's a little number I wrote. Maybe you've heard of it. It's called 'Screaming Incoherently in the Parking Lot Behind Arby's.' Back me up Snerds. A one, a two, a one two three four, GHUUAAAHRRRGHAAAAAAAAAAA..." /Jesus screams incoherently for like 19 hours/

Joe Buck : “This defense has really taken off, the numbers are incredible since they picked up Roquan Smith from the Bears last season.” Props to the Ravens for getting a really quality guy mid season. They gave up Klein, a 2nd, and a 5th. LB not really a premium position these days but the Ravens seem to make these moves over and over.

If any of you guys are driving through Licking County, please stop by and zip tie my mouth shut, I seriously cannot stop eating.

Brock Purdy throws 4 picks. Troy Aikman: Purdy’s inaccuracy is one of his strengths in this offense.

Fun game to watch, enjoyed seeing Peyton and Denver get beat. RE Belichick, he has said he has a ton of respect for Paul Brown and the bengals organization. So there’s a chance!

Zac has one huge redeeming quality - he’s not Mike McCarthy.

Taylor needs to feel some heat. This habit he’s fallen into of getting handled in the division can’t go on. IMO he’s way too comfortable. -

Rainy day in central Ohio, probably Pittsburgh as well. Our boy QB’d in the PNW, so he should be able to handle wet weather. Bring it! -

Seems like a no brainer. Get him in here. Nice work by that writer when selecting potential landing spots - Cowboys, Niners, and Browns. Laziest take ever. -

My suspicion was that he’d failed a drug test or something. Per their contract, probably appealing it and allowed to work but couldn’t be assigned any actual work during the appeal. It seemed to me he was on something, like some kind of heavy tranquilizer. -

Story from Gary Works: I went there to troubleshoot a malfunctioning piece of equipment. I meet my contacts in the locker room at the plate mill (where they produce the first iteration of steel, giant rectangular slugs of steel). Anyway in the locker room there are a bunch of chairs and benches and a battered steel desk. We sit and have our meeting. When we arrive and during our whole time in the locker room, there is a guy sitting at the desk. He’s got work clothes on and a parka with the hood up. He’s reclined back in an office chair, with his boots up on the desk, arms folded and eyes closed like he’s asleep. He never moved, opened his eyes, or in any way acknowledged that we were there. The whole meeting, like half an hour. None of the US Steel guys spoke to him or said anything about him. We leave and get our work done (US Steel techs had installed equipment improperly), takes about 4 hours. Back to the locker room to debrief and part ways. We walk in, exact same guy sitting in the exact same position, like this dude seriously hadn’t even moved. We have our meeting, make plans, and say goodbye. Same exact thing, the guy never moved or opened his eyes or acknowledged us in any way. -

I’ve been in the Gary Works of US Steel many times for work. It is an amazing place.
