Chase still not practicing? The Bengals and Zac are pretty blase’ about this whole thing. Maybe we’ll, once again, learn the lesson that guys can’t just flip a switch when games start.

Horrible news, Sample was doing a great job of redeeming his family name in the bengalverse, now this.

“How the Gambling Industry Swallowed Sports Media Whole.” That is the most accurate and succinct summation of this recent development.

If I want to follow some of these reporters, what platform would be the best? I do not have Facebook, instagram, or twitter. I don’t really have any social media (except Bengalszone!) which one would be the best to get to follow bengals news/updates, etc?

Is Chase practicing yet? I need to start following some of these reporters.

Mims the word. Heh.
-
Amarius Mims, that’s all I have to say.
-
Myles Murphy cramping up on practice yesterday, had to leave.
-
I don’t know what that means with Murphy. The team was counting on him to step up this year and take more snaps, be a contributor. Maybe he’s out of shape and getting a message.

I stand corrected. I was under the impression guys at Chase’s level got extended before they played that 4th year on their rookie deal. I went looking - from Chase’s ‘21 draft class a grand total of one player has had his deal extended, Rashod Bateman from Baltimore. And there are very good to great level players in that class. Devontae Davis, Penei Sewell, Chase, Trevor Larence, Micah Parsons, and Jaylen Waddle. all those guys are playing their 4th year on their price controlled rookie deal. You win again, Mike Brown!!
-
True. But imagine Chase and his situation. They are costing him very real money by making him play out his deal. Almost every other team would pay him this year. They absolutely can do it. But there is a risk of alienating your player, and be aware your younger players are watching this. “We’re the bengals and this is how we do things,” can be followed by “I’m Jamarr Chase and this is how I do things (fakes a hamstring injury through his franchise tag year then signs with someone else).”
-
Same. I love having a little fun at his expense, but at the same time there’s just an odd feeling I have. Kind of a combination of pity, empathy, and I’m also a little dumbfounded. Mike is a bit of a marvel to be getting around as well as he does. If you know many 88 year old men you know what I mean.

Robbins said he went to some punting camp this summer and learned how to punt.

GB just gave Jordan Love a new deal, 75 million dollar signing bonus all to be paid before the end of the year. Everyone please keep Mike in your prayers.

Lamar is really sick, can’t practice. I wonder what’s up, covid, the flu, some random virus?
-
The Lions kicker completely wrecked his leg and is out for the season. That’s not something that happens every year.
-
Mike and company may just have an intense aversion to having the highest paid qb in the nfl AND the highest paid wide receiver in the NFL on the team at the same time. Has Burrow been passed yet? I’d expect he has. If Mike drags his feet and forces Chase to play his final year, the possibility exists JaMarr will look elsewhere. Then he could get tagged. Could be messy.
-
Chase would likely be signed at any other NFL franchise. Only Mike would make this dude play out his rookie deal.
-
I’ve contacted that concrete plant beside our practice facility. The conversation centered around a long list of reasons they should consider adding an Arby’s to their facility.
-
Sounds very much like a typical Zac training camp. Resting Chase, resting Brown, planning to rest Higgins. Also, the concrete plant right on the river there is the star of every training camp and it looks to be in great shape.
-
Tough for a rookie tackle to start, but I hope you’re right, because if he wins the job in camp it will be because he’s damn good already. And we’ll have a chance at a long-term starter at tackle.

“You can’t just pay people willy nilly.” - Mike at camp presser explaining why we can’t fit Tee under the cap. Only 89 year olds have the acumen and energy to run a billion dollar business, so we’re lucky to still have Mike around. I’m looking forward to reading his guest piece in the WSJ tomorrow explaining 1. Why it is appropriate to wear sock garters even with your Bermuda shorts, and 2. Why these new IBM Selectric typewriters with all the letters on the little ball are such a great step forward (spoiler : only the little ball has to move instead of the whole carriage holding the paper. Those guys over at IBM are way ahead of their time).
-
Agreed, if this dude turns out to be a player, what an incredible bargain. That union should build escalator clauses into those rookie deals. Like Tee Higgins, there could be like built-in resentment in a player like that who outplays his deal. Just part of the game, but it could be improved for everyone- team and player.

Just ordered the custom urinal cakes. LFG.

Cincy Jungle says it’s almost inevitable that Jackson Carman is getting cut. The team may want to see if anyone gets injured before they cut Carman.
