  1. The above stats were published by Jay Morrison on SI’s website. He writes for them, and I kind of just discovered his writing. It’s good. I listened to him on Paul Dehner’s YouTube thing last night then looked him up. In his old twitter bio or something he refers to himself as an “Arby’s Superfan,” so, he’s a righteous sort of person.
  2. Weird stats from the game last night- TJ Watt had zero sacks, zero tackles, zero assists, zero pressures. He didn’t even show up on the defensive stat sheet. First time that’s happened to TJ in 120 career starts. Cody Ford, utility guy for our line and new love interest of Troy Aikman, blocked Watt into irrelevance (yes with a little help). The last time Cody (we’re in a first name basis now), made a start at right tackle? His rookie year, 2019, in our playoff game against the Texans when he was lined up against JJ Watt, TJ’s older brother.
  3. Agreed on Burrow applying pressure. He’s watched several good players just walk out the door, then observed their drafted or cheaper FA replacements struggle. It’s a pattern.
  4. Both games are 4:25 pm games tomorrow. And according to the nfl tv maps I could find, both games will be broadcast in Ohio, one on Fox, one on CBS.
  5. Just feels good to beat the Steelers, the circumstances don’t matter to me. I know who the luckiest team in the NFL is right now - whatever team draws Pittsburgh in the first round of the playoffs.
  6. Damn, breaking stat records all over the place, leading the league in various offensive numbers. Then there’s 1. Our defense and 2. Our end of game management.
  7. Referees spot the Steelers first down 3 plays in a row. All 3 reversed by video.
  8. Mike Tomlin not wearing his aviators. And I now see why he wears aviators.
  9. Herbert needs to initiate contact. He would have had the first if he hadn’t slowed down.
  10. CTB got forcefully pushed, just grabbed the arm pushing him. Tough call.
  11. No Chase Brown, very bad news. We NEED a healthy Mims.
  12. Carl just got bamboozled by Schwab again. Attention Schwab - don’t you think that poor guy has had enough? Let up on Carl a little.
  13. Jerry Judy: “Please consider this drop on third down to be my resignation.”
  14. Browns so far - gave up a couple sacks, threw a pick six, shanked a punt.
  15. Ok the Browns just yanked Zappe and put in DTR. Still the first quarter.
  16. Browns vs Ravens is on before our game. Lamar looks really good so far. Bailey Zappe threw a pick 6 already. The Ravens just look hot right now. I wouldn’t want to face them in the first couple rounds of the playoffs. The Browns look like a team owned and lead by a guy who runs truck stops, which is what they are.
  17. Any idea the reason behind leaving him off? I think we’re all assuming he didn’t show up for practice or something, and we’re probably right. I’m wondering if, through any channels, the word is out on what it was.
  18. I can tell you where not to go - Shitsburgh.
  19. What a merciless beat down. That freshman receiver for the buckeyes is on another level. Good year for Oregon, Ohio State is just heating up at the right time. If we as a country can take a break from getting blown to pieces by Isis just long enough to let the Sugar Bowl get played, we’ll see where Georgia is at. They got beat by Tennessee earlier this year, but I don’t think we’ll see that exact Georgia again. Their quarterback is out, so depth guy will give it a go. I like our chances against Texas (inconsistent offense) and Georgia (injured).
  20. Totally pumped for this buckeye game tonight. off topic - I’m really starting to feel genuinely sorry for Carl the broker who just keeps getting outwitted by Charles Schwab.
  21. I feel the following will happen in the off season - Burrow will offer to alter his contract (ie Brady at NE) in order to help sign Tee and Chase. Whether Mike and company will agree to that, I do not know. That technique didn’t happen much in 1970 so Mike won’t be familiar with it, and subsequently will hate it.
  22. Burrow is shit talking the front office like the fucking boss that he is. “Whenever a great player leaves, you wish you could have found a way to keep them,” Burrow said. “You don’t want to make a living out of letting great players leave the building. I think that’s why you’ve got to do everything you can to get those deals done early.”
  23. Kelce has slowed noticeably. Tight end might be one of the most damaging positions in the nfl. They’re kind of like safeties. A lot of grinding type contact and also some high speed impact stuff thrown in. Even Gronk just got tired of being hurt all the time and bailed. Eifert was the same, constantly dinged up.
  24. “It’s hard to build a team around your stars if you don’t identify ascending players and take some risks to get them signed earlier,” one exec said.
  25. What’s holding the Bengals back? https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6026641/2024/12/30/joe-burrow-bengals-zac-taylor-defense/?source=user_shared_article
