HoosierCat Posted January 13 Author Report Posted January 13 Somehow, Taylor is now tied for fifth-longest tenured coach in the league. 1. Andy Reid (Chiefs) 2013 2. Sean McDermott (Bills) 2017 2. Sean McVay (Rams) 2017 2. Kyle Shanahan (49ers) 2017 5. Matt LeFleur (Packers) 2019 5. Taylor 2019 Quote
volcom69 Posted January 13 Report Posted January 13 Ugh this so stupid. Bengals only team to keep there lame ass coach go figure! Quote
Prophecy Posted January 13 Report Posted January 13 As long as Zac Taylor keeps working for peanuts, he'll have a job. The Brown know they have to spend a certain amount of the cap on Salaries, so the way they pocket more money is, pay a Head Coach $4 million instead of the $12-$18 million Top Coaches get, Dont hire expensive Coordinators, keep the scouting department the smallest in the league, limit player perks, and not pay a GM Salary and just have your Director of Player Personnel do the job. That's at least an extra $15-20 Million a year in "profits" Quote
TJJackson Posted January 13 Report Posted January 13 while I dont know if Tomlin's exit is a good thing or a bad thing for the Bengals, I will say that I am always glad to see a coach who sticks his foot out on the field of play to trip a kick returner, and who coaches players to be thugs, exit the league Tomlin is a thug Tomlin teaches his players to be thugs Good riddance 2 Quote

The offense was really struggling and CJ was totally off his game. Him and his center need to get that together. I love having a high powered offense, but you can see how a high powered defense changes things greatly. It's nice to see Rankins get healthy again and glad he's contributing, but our pickup of Slaton gave us similar (most better) stat results than Rankins. Hell, even Jenkins had a similar season stat wise to Rankins. Again, glad he's doing well, but we didn't lose much in comparison. I think next weeks game between the Texans and Patriots should be a fun one to watch. It's easy to forget how much fun it is to have a team in the playoffs. Hope the Bengals can right the ship and make it back. AB, I know the Houston defense doesn’t have the numbers the 2000 Ravens did . . . BUT . . . defenses DO win championships and the Ravens won the SB scoring 333 points in 2000 in 16 games. Texans scored 404 in 17 games this year. Ravens gave up an NFL record 10.3 points per game in 2000. Texans gave up 17.4 points per game this year. Ravens won a SB with Trent Dilfer at QB BECAUSE of a tenacious defense! Stranger things have happened if Stroud can get back on track! Quote
gregcook69 Posted January 14 Report Posted January 14 5 hours ago, HoosierCat said: I hate everything... It’s the Bengals! What reality were you truly expecting? Zac HAS had some extenuating circumstances, IMHO! 2019 no HC was going to win. 2020 inherits COVID, Burrow goes down for last 6 games 2021 goes to SB with anemic OL. 2022 goes deep into the playoffs with same OL. 2023 Burrow appendicitis and still bad OL, franchise tries to correct, Burrow goes down with wrist. Browning does decent but can’t get them across the line. 2024, some OL improvement, offense goes off the chain, defense can’t stop a toy train! Anarumo gets fired! 2025 Burrow goes down AGAIN with turf toe! Browning does not come close to 2023. Flacco comes in and does well. OL goes from 32 to tied for 9. Defense still young and can’t stop anything but improves the last 8 games! IF injury prone Burrow stays healthy, OL stays top 10, defense continues in the upswing THEN let’s see what happens! Quote
ArmyBengal Posted January 14 Report Posted January 14 Looking at the brackets for the divisional round, these should be really solid games to watch all around. Bills at the Broncos Texans at the Patriots 49er's at the Seahawks Bears at the Rams I honestly enjoy watching Josh Allen play ball and think it's cool to see the Broncos back in it. The Texans are obviously my 1b. team, but Maye has had a great season leading the Patriots back. Still hate the 49er's and hope the Seahawks (another great defense) trounces that ass. I have a lot of buddies that are Bears fans and would like to see them all celebrate another win. Then we follow up Saturday and Sunday playoff football with Miami and Indiana (another great defense) in the National Championship game on Monday. GO HOOSIERS !! Hope to see the Big 10 (I think it's like 35 now) win the National Championship 3 years in a row with three different teams. Enjoy this football weekend everyone !! Quote
HoosierCat Posted January 14 Author Report Posted January 14 Yah weather here in the Chicago area is supposed to suck starting today all the way through the weekend, so it's going to be a great one for staying in and watching the games. Go Bears! Go Hoosiers! Quote

Pretenders (like Pitt) have been disposed of. The remaining 8 teams are for real and these games are really good. Competitive. Quote

Allentown21 Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 Can buffalo finally get over the hump? Tre White/ Benford are playing at an incredibly high level. I'm not sure. Denver is one of the hardest places to play in January. Denver is more mature than last year and Nix is emerging. Tom Brady never won there in his career in the playoffs.... Gabe Davis and Shavers are out. Mecole Hardman and Curtis Samuel are replacing them at wr. Oliver could be back possibly.... Going to be a very tough game for buffalo. If James Cook has a big game, the bills will have a decent chance to win. I'm expecting Allen to try and be efficient, not be afraid to punt and manage the game. I don't know if it's the best idea for him to be running around this game... Bills showed a lot of maturity last week, but Denver is very talented. Especially on defense.... Quote

ArmyBengal Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 The weather is not suppose to be bad in Denver at all but I’m not sure if that bodes better for either team over the other. I think Buffalo needs to establish their run game and if that includes Allen then so be it. For how many sacks the Denver defense produces, something tells me he’s going to running around anyway. Win the turnover battle. 1 Quote

charina Posted January 16 Report Posted January 16 Weather aside, this feels like a game where Buffalo has to lean on the run and keep the offense balanced. If that means Josh Allen using his legs, so be it—Denver’s pass rush will force him to move anyway. Protect the ball, limit mistakes, and winning the turnover battle could decide it. Quote

Personally, outside of MAYBE the 2001 Hurricanes, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team with the kind of passion and excellence like this Hoosier team! What’s ironic is how this is basically a basketball town with the school winning 5 championships! Kind of like if Duke football was playing for the championship with no previous titles and a basketball team with 5! Also I agree that the NFL matchups this year could make for some good football but I guess I’m NOT really a football fan/watcher. I’ll only watch games the Bengals, Eagles, or Texans are in, IF it’s televised. I’ll watch the Texans game but IF/ONCE they lose, I won’t have anymore dogs in the fight so I probably won’t be watching! Quote
Coltsguy451 Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 I'm silently hoping to see a Buffalo/Chicago Superbowl. I realize that might not garner much support around here outside of our affable local Bills poster, but I think it might provide the most entertaining show. Just please please please not Seahawks/Patriots again...anything but that 1 Quote
COB Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 Hopefully on the way to the stadium the Patriots bus gets hit by a freight train. The few survivors make it to the stadium, but to have a full team various unknown NFL rules dictate that the owner ends up having to suit up and play. Of course the Texans defense ends up killing Robert Kraft. Then like 6 Asian massage parlors in the Boston area go out of business due to a sudden and drastic drop in revenue. 2 Quote

Stripes Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 Buffalo/Chicago sounds great to me. Might be the best matchup available. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 The purging of the Brady Belicheat era, the time struggling, the new players and seeing Vrabel (Go Bucks) come back and make a difference has made the Patriots more watchable for me.. Now the 49er’s ?? Until the day I die, I will NEVER, in the history of EVER, feel anything but disdain and hatred towards that team and organization. My son could grow up and become the GM of that team and I would simply start hating him too. FUCK THAT TEAM !! 1 Quote
