Boston really is one giant historic district. The buildings are so old. Salem is a cool place to visit, they have a great waterfront, a lot of serious and not so serious stuff about witchcraft.

Can you imagine if they could get Perine back here? Seems so unlikely but it would be a huge help. Some of those 3rd downs he had last year were amazing. Just the effort and physicality of it. Also, Mixon looks good this year but if they don’t get him some help I don’t think we’ll see the same guy at the end of the season. We’ll just wear him out.

Aren’t they though? It’s a frequent thing with this team and o-linemen. We often seem to have one with a really low floor. Like somewhere in the Marina Trench. Then if we find our guy struggling at some point in the season, teams watch film, they know. I recall watching teams safety blitz our center, not a stunt you see every day. Ghiaciuc and Bodine both got absolutely mistreated in this league. And that’s a short trip to a quarterback, straight up the middle. It wrecked some decent offenses. When it comes to whiffing on O linemen draft picks, no one is giving us the participation trophy, we’re getting the straight up blue ribbon. And I’m not talking about Volson. Dude’s a good depth guy, that’s just reality. I’m talking about all the tackles we miss on, and the ripple effect from that.

30, 37, 37, 24. Those are the point totals Seattle put up in their games before us. They averaged 32 points a game and the bengals held them to 13. That’s not just good it’s great. They were giving up like 19 a game, we scored 17 on them. Not really all that good. Hoosier is right, they need some weapons on offense and hopefully TJ’s groin prayer game is on point. We are actually not all that injured yet. I’d like to see them go against type once again and go pick up a RB or TE during this bye. It will be very difficult to beat the 49ers at their place, but hopefully Zac can come up with a game plan to highlight our strengths. If our H crew (yes I listened to Lap yesterday instead of the tv guys) gets ahold of that little QB early in the game and rattles him - we could pull it off. And off topic - I’ve watched the two London games the last two weeks. Rich Eisen and Kurt Warner on the call. Rich Eisen is now far and away my favorite football announcer (pro only, Gus Johnson is untouchable on the college side). Eisen has this sort of laid back style that is so different from anyone else. He also has an understated, wry, sense of humor that really shines. He does the play by play, but he doesn’t really do it like a normal play by play guy. He just says less. Also - the game a week ago in London, the Jags vs Bills game, was incredibly entertaining. Great game.

As Burrow said after the game, it’s a lot easier to fix things after a win than a loss. They looked bad, true. But good programs find ways to win games when they don’t play well. Nice to see the Bengals in that category. The AFC North is as advertised. Beat the Niners, the Seahawks, and the Titans today. Getting to the playoffs is going to be a challenge.

Ugly win. Get Perine back here somehow. This offense misses him badly. Please let Orlando Brown be ok, a couple weeks to heal.

Helmet to helmet on Burrow on that TD, they didn’t call it.

It doesn’t look like Pratt is even trying to get off blocks.

There has to be something wrong with Germain Pratt.

Looking for our defense to have a big game today. LFG.

Speaking of Trenton Irwin, he looked good Sunday filling in for Tee Higgins. He fills the possession guy/safety valve number 2 role as well as Higgins, though he lacks Higgins deep threat and big play ability.

It is a different era. Way better d ends. It is just damn hard to find competent tackles anymore given what they are facing, and the emphasis on passing. We are just one of many teams who struggle to find better o line play, but we are demonstrably better. As far as any effort to rehabilitate Paul Alrxander’s reputation, keep trying. Dude sucked. Couldn’t evaluate talent at all. He’s so good that the cowboys hired him as their o-line coach and he lasted exactly one season. Hasn’t been an o-line coach since, and this is a league dying for competent o-line coaching.

I know there is no stat for this but there should be - Someone should measure the amount of time it takes a receiver from the time the ball is in his reach to the time he has it safely tucked away. Because if the measured that, Jamar Chase would lead the league by a mile. It is freakish how fast he snatches a ball out of the air and tucks it away. And he does it in heavy traffic. Guys never seem to have a breakup chance with him. It’s an important skill and Chase is amazing at it. I’m watching him run crossing routes, the ball gets near him, then the next thing I see is he’s got it tucked away, it happens that fast.

Just read a report, some reporter for the Athletic named Diana Russini. She said Joe is not close to 100% healthy, and is several weeks from getting there. Fucking sucks.

“It’s a shocking lack of attention to detail.” Coaching.

Damn, the Bears are kicking sand in the Commanders’ faces. Love it.

I’ve got eyes in my head. He’s not anywhere close to right. Normally he’s very good at moving around to evade the rush. Right now, not moving around.
-
Burrow just can’t throw downfield, it’s obvious. He should not be out there, and Taylor should have the backbone to do what’s best for the team and sit him.

I’m convinced Burrow can’t plant that right foot and drive the ball downfield. I’m also convince that the DCs in this league can watch tape and figure that out. Which I think is exactly why we saw the titans sending 7 guys without a second thought. I’ll wait for the reports on Burtow’s calf, if it’s the same I’ll take the cardinals and the points.

King Henry trampled us. One bright spot, our first round pick got on the stat sheet. Good to see him contributing.

That British guy who gets hired by a restaurant then comes in with his tv show and screams at everyone and throws a plate of beans on the floor - that’s who we need right now.
-
That last 4th down play on offense - Burrow had to bail, he was trying use Ted Karras as a human shield. Didn’t work, took a hard tackle, including getting whacked in the head. If they get the ball back, just give Burrow a rest, try Browning. Live to fight another day.

Come on, the cowboys put him on their practice squad, he’ll have plenty of free time.
