You know that scene in brokeback mountain where the gay cowboy goes “I can’t quit you,”? That’s me in regards to DJ Reader. Seriously see what the doctors say about that leg and sign him. That injury should pull him down into an affordable range especially because we should be able to get him for a two year deal. Our defense is noticeably different when he’s in there, he’s a great, very underrated, player. Irv Smith is outside right now cleaning out my gutters. Dude’s a bum. Maybe he can revive his career somewhere else, he should try because it just didn’t work here.

The raiders have officially hired Marvin as the assistant head coach. He’ll play the role of wise old NFL lifer who will instill in the Raiders a unique ability to get the living shit kicked out of them any time they’re on a prime time night game or in the playoffs.

That is so on-brand for the Browns, hobo scout is spinning in his cardboard box behind a 7-11 somewhere.

Titans Hire Callahan as HC, Bengals Bump Pitcher to OC
COB replied to volcom69's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
I think part of our low running to pass ratio is the result of Burrow’s audibles. There are plays where based on reads he makes he audibles into something, which means he’s audibling out of something. Dude has never met a pass play he didn’t like, gunslinger. -
Titans Hire Callahan as HC, Bengals Bump Pitcher to OC

Ok I just did some googling, it looks like we get nothing for Callahan. The compensatory picks the Rams are getting (can 2 3rd round picks be correct? Sounds like a lot) are a Rooney Rule thing and Morris is black. -

I just read that since the falcons hired the Rams’ Raheem Morris away to be their new head coach - the Rams will get a third round compensatory pick in 2024 and a third round compensatory pick in 2025. I have not read anything about us getting compensatory picks for Callahan. Anyone know anything about this? -
Holdovers is on peacock, I took the bait on their 6 month offer before the playoff game.
-
Finally saw the Holdovers. Loved it. Paul Giamatti is great in everything.
-
Harbaugh is inheriting a truly loaded roster. No explanation for the 5 win season they just had. He’s walking into a playoff team with a franchise qb. It also ends the longest and most annoying job search of all time. Dude’s been trying to get back to the nfl for 3 years.

Agreed. Lou lost a lot of talent off the back end of the ‘22 team. I get the idea Jessie Bates was like another coach on the field. It takes time to develop that sort of acumen, even for talented guys taken high in the draft. Callahan is hard to evaluate because the team isn’t real clear on who the architect of the offense is, who’s really calling the plays, etc. -

We fell on our faces this year and our coordinators are still getting poached. -
Rooting for the Lions, would be great for their fans to get a SB win. Lions vs Niners - lions have a way better quarterback so I’m picking them to win that game. Ravens over chiefs, I hope. I have serious Chiefs fatigue.
-
Hard for me to understand these betting lines. The Niners favored by 9.5 over the Packers? Way too much. The Ravens favored by 9.5 over the Texans? Also way too much. 9.5 points is a huge number for an nfl line. Both those underdogs have QBs playing lights out.

I think the division playoff games are the best the nfl has to offer. To me it is the best football weekend. Guys are playing like their lives depend on it. And this year’s games look to be great. All 4 are good matchups. We could end up with a dud or a blowout, but they appear incredibly competitive. I seriously will not miss a minute. The weather here sucks anyway.

Joe could be planning a big family. Rivers has like ten kids. Ryan Fitzpatrick has 7 kids. Or it could just be the dominos falling on the extreme end of the American dream spectrum. Strike it rich. Buy giant house. Ten years later you sit in your giant house and go, “why do I own this giant fucking house?”

McCarthy and Tomlin both coming back. I did not see that coming. And Belichick getting a new HC job - that doesn’t surprise me, but I think it is a mistake. One caveat - if you just want Belichick to come in and culture shock your dysfunctional organization, yes I get that. Two years of him doing that, then get a new person who can build on that. But thinking he’s going to come in and suddenly turn around a mediocre team? Wake up. Enjoy having Matt Patricia and Josh McDaniels as your coordinators. Because that’s what he’ll do. Any free agents want to play for those guys? Hell no, they are basically universally disliked by players.
-
Jerra supposedly bringing back McCarthy. Dude never learns.
-
Dear Brown Family: feel free to look at all the coaches getting fired. Their o-line coaches are getting fired too. Pick the best one and hire him.

Cleveland writer Jimmy Watkins: This strategy that failed is still the right strategy.

You are a hero for posting this. She deserves a Nobel prize for wearing that bodysuit to a game.

Mayfield wins a playoff game. If Cleveland had just kept him, and all their $$ and draft picks, they’d be way better off. Likely at least one playoff win by now. That owner is the gift that keeps on giving - to all the teams that aren’t the Browns.
-
Last 4 times they made the playoffs, the Steelers have lost all 4 playoff games. Prior to that, 2011 through 2015, the bengals were in the playoffs 5 (consecutive) seasons. Lost all 5 playoff games. You are right, very similar.
-
Tony and Jim said they think Tomlin will continue his campaign of not having losing seasons. That’s the bar in Pittsburgh.
