I wondered what kind of event you meant.  Looked it up and Grossi is doing a visit to all the nfl stadiums and using it as a fundraiser for a children’s hospital.  What a strange thing these days, to see a minor celebrity whose only agenda is to be a decent human being.

And if he does it again in a few years he might be visiting Hammond, Indiana: the “megaprojects” bill the Bears say they need to stay in Illinois died in the Illinois Senate last night. Today is the last day of the session and they still have to pass the budget. So it looks like we are going to find out if the Bears are serious about moving to Indiana.

In all seriousness I don’t think it was a horrible trade. The Browns are hosed until they finish passing that fully guaranteed kidney stone named Deshaun Watson, so trading a DE who will turn 31 this year for a rising young player and multiple picks including a first is a reasonable move. It’s more or less what we were arguing the Bengals ought to have done with Trey before last season. You can say that they didn’t get enough for Garrett, and you would be right, but this is probably the best they were going to do.

Still great news for Burrow, Lamar and the geriatric in Pitt tho.

Verse has proven to be a solid player, so that was a good thing for them THIS year.
3 picks aren't a bad haul either, but they are spaced out over the next three years.
I don't like the spread of picks personally.

A 1st in 2027
A 2nd in 2028
A 3rd in 2029

Since the Browns restructured Watson's contract, he either will still be on the roster in 2027 or the Browns will be on the hook for an ass load of dead cap dollars.  It's the single worst contract in the NFL and will continue to haunt them for seasons to come.

Yes, Burrow has yet ANOTHER reason to be super motivated this year.

Well, this is the final real year of Watson’s contract; 2027-30 are all void years (yes, 4 void years!). So while he’s headed to FA, he’ll still be on the Browns’ books for 35, 26, 17 and 9 million through 2030.

So yeah, worst contract ever.

Browns actually did something smart. Jared Verse is a damn good player, and the future 1st, 2nd and 3rd Rd picks? But MOST importantly for a team going nowhere in the next few years, getting rid of Myles Garrett's contract which has Cap hits of $58 million in '29 and $58 Million in '30 when he would be 33 and 34 years old. If they want to find a QB and be competitive in the next 4 years, they cannot do it with those types of Cap Hits for an over the hill DE.

This is perfect timing for dumping that contract.

I would just like it noted that I am currently trapped in a southern Indiana bar listening to 70+ yo people singing folk songs on open mic night.

I blame stripes.
