The lack of talent and depth at LB concerns me more and more all the time.

It seems apparent that they are content with Carter and Knight at LB (i like the potential) but thats only 2 LB's. Granted, they run more 2 LB nickel sets nowadays, but what about when you run 3 LB? One injury, or a 2nd year drop off to either Carter or Knight means you have one of them and Oren Burks or Shaka Hayward.

That's a huge hole in your Defense.

I dont care if Bobby Wagner is 60 years old and cant cover a TE, neither can any of the Bengals other LB's...but Wagner can still wrap up and tackle. AND a veteran with his knowledge and awareness can help get the youngsters lined up in the right spots presnap.

You dont even need to restructure Burrow for this (save that for next years improvements or to retain our CB's) just cut TJ Slaton and give Wagner his $6m

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The Bengals on Friday acquired linebacker Swayze Bozeman on waivers from the N.Y. Giants and signed college free agent safety Isaiah Nwokobia.

Bozeman (6-2, 225), a second-year player out of the University of Southern Mississippi, originally was a college free agent signee of Kansas City in 2024. He has played in nine career games for the Chiefs (2024) and Giants (’25), totaling five defensive tackles along with four special teams stops.

At least they brought in a depth guy who has a couple years in the league, has been through a season.  It is startling, the way the bengals drafted two linebackers and just stubbornly started them as rookies.  Two rookies, side by side, starting a whole nfl season.  As the kids would say, make it make sense.

Hoosier, it gets better

I opened bengals.com today to see this

"Bengals President Mike Brown is"

the rest was cut off

...

...

My mouth hung wide, then clamped shut quickly, suppressing a shriek of delight......

then I scrolled down

“Bengals president Mike Brown is..”

1. “on life support, and a retired army medic who works for the VA has been seen lurking around the plug.”

2. “confirmed to be the father of both Diana Russini’s children.”

3. “suing the Cleveland Clinic after he discovered he is the unwitting subject of a million dollar clandestine medical study entitled: ‘Holy Shit, Did You See These Fucking Liver Spots?’”

Through my life I’ve been called many things, but even I have my limits…

Also, the Hookers and Blow plan is thought to be therapeutic in nature so I don’t think that’s the best course of action.  Might I suggest an alternative approach and try the Horse Show and Fentanyl plan?

If so, that’s the easiest L I’ve ever seen.

Zac Taylor in September, road Thursday game, against an elite defense

Knowing this team can't start fast to save their own lives.
No matter who they play, I expect that trend to continue.
It's mental and it's real.

I don’t expect the slow start to be an issue this year.

I do expect the defense to look a bit of a mess early on. Lots of new blood means guys missing assignments and lining up wrong, but that will work itself out over the first few games. Enthusiasm and effort, by contrast, should be sky-high.

On offense, well, if you believe all the rumors about Burrow agitating behind the scenes for major changes (and I suspect there’s some truth there) then the FO has delivered. No one can accuse them of a lack of spending or bold moves. So now it’s on our alleged franchise QB to get off the catwalk, put away the piano, wash the gel out of his hair and swap Met galas and fancy horse races for reps and film study. And so far I think things are moving in that direction. We’ll see how it goes.

Oh I think it's in Burrow's head and he himself has alluded to that.
This may not be the popular take and I have no proof, but I think the only way he works through what he has said is happening with him in those early games is to be more prepared.  To your point Hoosier, he's a man of many different tastes and interests.  I have no issue with any of that stuff, minus another one of our QB's sponsoring an item with them stuffing a huge wiener in their mouth.  I just hope he's taking enough time to do the things which need to be done in order to work through those mental hurdles.  If they start cold again, I'm putting it on Burrow.  Again, may not be a popular take.
