Both Flacco (shoulder) and Hendrickson (hip) are day-to-day, per Zac. Heyward down at least 4 weeks (fibula, hairline fracture).

I'm fine with playing Browning. Makes it all the easier to tank it.

Chicago Ditkas 97, Zac Failor's Bengals 0

Me:  “well, the season’s shot, Brown family sucks, at least I have Monday Night Football, I wonder who’s playing.  /Looks it up, sees that it’s the Chiefs, AGAIN/  Jesus what did I do to deserve this?”

It's times like these where I am so happy to be an avid follower of college football.

Even better when your team is doing well, but there is literally no college team I won't watch play.

I think the Idaho Academy of Gardening Science was playing Mother Mary of the Blind last week.
IAGS really had their hands full with the "Peepers" but they pulled it out for their first win of the season.

Oh no… not a players only meeting !?!?

Odd it took them this long to figure out they have been playing like shit and NOW they have to do something about it. It’s not like the Jets game was the first time they have sucked. Their suckage just took center stage this time.  It’s called getting exposed !!

Roster moves:

The Bengals today made the following roster moves:

**Placed LB Shaka Heyward (fibula) and C Matt Lee (knee) on the Reserve/Injured list.

**Released DT Mike Pennel. Pennel, an 11th-year player, played in eight games for the Bengals this season.

Is anyone talking about the Joe Burrow updates?

No real change in the timetable from what I’ve seen. Kind of a moot point right now anyway. Even Burrow can’t save them if the defense continues its nonexistence.

This is the 58th year of the franchise!

I predict the 60th anniversary year will be Lombardi time!

EXACTLY, Flacco has got the offense scoring as much as JB, so what difference does that make, if or when he comes back?!?!

It’s NOT the OL OR the OFFENSE!!

If anyone can’t see it’s the DEFENSE Lord help them!!!

Just a follow-up: apparently Pennel asked to be released so he could go re-sign with KC, and they acquiesced. I think that tells you all you need to know about where coaching and the FO think this team is headed this year (spoiler: nowhere).

Terrible! To honest though I forgot this guy was even on the team. However if he goes back to the Chiefs and makes a difference, then I think that can tell you something about the coaches on this team!

Must be a pretty shitty locker room right now to want out! Guess the defense players meeting didn’t go so well

Looks to me like the whole organization is pretty much nonfunctional right now.

The last five draft classes are to be viewed only through your fingers.

The FO is as unchanging as ever.

The quarter-billion-dollar franchise QB is basically out for the season.

The star wideout answers questions in postgame press conferences with "ask Zac."

The head coach amply demonstrated he had no answers offensively in a string of losses with Jake Browning.

Joe Flacco momentarily saved Zac's bacon, but the injury now means they may have to turn back to Jake...who no one has any faith in.

The defense is literally the 8th-worst NFL defense of the 21st Century right now.

The one defensive player worth a damn is hurt.

New DC Al Golden has no answers. (Not that that is really his fault; he was dumped into a pile of shit and -- surprise -- did not come up smelling like a rose.)

Oh, and teams are mostly terrible, too. Kick and punt coverage sucks, and the (arguably) best return weapon we have is locked in the doghouse.

The kicker and punter have been solid. That's the nanometer-thin silver lining. Yippee.

I've seen bad Bengals teams before. We all have. A lot of us here are old farts so we lived through the 90s. We've seen horrors that would drive Cthulhu mad. I won't say this is the worst it's ever been, but if things haven't already spun out of control, they are spinning very rapidly toward that outcome.

Ugh yea it’s getting harder to root for them every week anymore. Just knowing what could have been if they actually just put a little thought on how to build a defense. No they put all hope into a couple shitty draft picks, a free agent and a new coach. Wow some thought here front office!

With as much hype as this team gets at the beginning of the year, and with an offense like they have, it’s a freaking crime to be this bad. I freaking hate watching this crap anymore, and really hope they move on and make changes, I would say they have to, but chances are they won’t

I have a few buddies of mine that are Bears fans and I tend to pay attention to their team.
If I watch, it would be for that reason.
Never know though, because clearly if the defense could find a way to pull their heads out, it could be interesting.

So when will you give us the bad news?

It’s all true.  This is Mike keeping the bengals FO methods and operations stagnant for the last 25 years while the rest of the league innovated and evolved.

This is the result.

And why should anyone be surprised?  Guys in their 70s and 80s aren’t exactly known for malleable, outside the box, thinking.

Mike is a traditionalist, he’s incredibly fiscally conservative, and he’s operating in an arena that rewards the opposite.

This defense could be fixed.  In the nfl defenses are way easier to turn around than offenses.  The frustrating thing is we know they won’t do it.  Can’t pay a big money vet when a draft pick on his rookie deal can do the job almost as well.  In the NFL almost means you missed the tackle and their RB scored.  Which is us right now.  The jets ran over us.

Hamilton County and Cincy should seize the team through eminent domain.  We’ll be like the Packers.
