Flacco’s done what they hired him to do!

I didn’t watch much in the 90s, so is this the worst defense in history franchise history?

I think it might be the worst defense in NFL history.

I’m honestly not sure how you don’t make change after this. You take a 15 point lead into the 4th quarter against one of the worst offense and lose the game, that can not happen. This offense was freaking awesome all game, scored 38 points, you simply can not lose the game. Something needs to change, coaches need to change, pathetic

Maybe a defense player, if you score 38 and can’t win the game, your bad

But we knew going in this defense was likely not improving. If they had another big piece on O, this offense wouldn't have lost this game. Yeah defense is bad, but it might be a ways away.

Don't worry all. Al Golden's job is safe. No way the Brown Family will fire him with 2 1/2 years left on his contract and then also have to pay a new Defensive Coordinator .

Anybody know if Mike Brown is still driving that 1991 Chevy Lumina???

Even the 2024 team never lost when scoring 38 points.

Not true.  They lost 2 and a third one scoring 37 points!

Only the Bengals could lose in such epic fashion. Seriously that was about as pathetic a defensive effort I’ve ever seen.

Thats the kind of loss that should cost someone their job.

Not like I thought they were going to the playoffs, but now there’s no real reason to even watch. That was probably my last game of the season.

Fuck you Bengals !!

Unfortunately what needs to change on defense is the players, and there’s not much you can do about that right now. Too many underachievers, backup quality guys and outright busts on the field right now. You can’t spend two first round picks on DEs who can’t find the QB. You can’t spend multiple premium picks on DTs and LBs who can’t get off blocks or tackle. You can’t spend even more premium picks on DBs who can’t cover, take good angles or tackle.

Defense needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.

Oh I know it’s a talent issue 100 percent which is why it was never a Lou issue either. They draft like crap, I mean they seriously took a guy who had like 1.5 sacks in his career because he looked freakish and thought he could be good. I’m just not a fan of this defense Golden runs, but maybe with better players it would look different I don’t know, I just know they leave everyone so wide open it’s crazy.

The Brown family is eternally reactive, never proactive.  They wait until something is absolutely destroyed before they try to address it.  They’re always too late.

Watching the game on cbs was enlightening.

These networks overpay for the nfl so they can use it as a platform for their own programming.  Network tv viewership drops every year.  CBS was shilling their old lady detective show, and a Blake Shelton country singer reality show.  No.

Yep. They’re allergic to change, and so they don’t.

The family will forever have plot armor, but Tobin shouldn’t. He has it anyway. I wonder how many consecutive first round busts it would take to change that.

Dennard, Ogbuehi, Jackson, Ross, Price, Williams, Burrow, Chase, Hill, Murphy, Mims, Stewart

3* for 12 since 2014

*Generously giving him Mims, but not Stewart (TBD). The other two hits were top five picks and required colossally fucked seasons.

The rest of the league invests in scouting and various up to date methods in all aspects of their football operations.  The Brown family does nothing.  The gap is widening, we’re falling further behind in all aspects.

It won’t happen, history only repeats itself with this franchise!

IMHO, it’s been way more about the defense these last 2 years than the OL.

Flacco has been sacked 3 times in 12 quarters, JB was sacked 5 times in 5.5 quarters!

Jordan Battle wants to complain about the tackling, maybe someone should show him the tape him just throwing his body at someone just hoping they fall down. Or when he blitzed and instead of tackling Fields or going full force to him he stops and lets Fields throw a TD. My gosh what pathetic excuses this team has.

Yes this team is full of a bunch of draft flops and slow guys, but maybe just maybe if they were in the right spots, and actually just tackle people, it’s wouldn’t look this bad. Will they ever be good not with these guys, but maybe just good enough to win games when your offense puts up 38 points! The coaching on this staff is just as bad as these players, and it shows with tackling and out of position all the time!

Zac wants the defense captain to step up, oh wait you benched the guy wearing the C for your defense lol. My gosh this defense is such a joke.

Yea he said he wants someone to step up and be a leader.

Unfortunately your leader is usually your best, or close to your best, veteran.  None of our veterans are very good.

Hendrickson is absolutely not a leader, that’s all I’ll say about him.

Jessie Bates and DJ Reader were both leaders, and are undoubtedly leaders on the Falcons and the Lions.

I am very encouraged by the play of some of our young linebackers and defensive backs.  Defensive ends and defensive linemen are lacking, obviously.

Honestly, it’s fixable.  It was fixable last off season and the front office did absolutely nothing.

We all know nothing will change, but if this is how they are going to build this team, then they need a top dog at HC, with a crazy DC to teach these guys how to play football. They are young and not talented at all, with a DC that has no clue how to scheme plays.

It a freaky family affair here, Tobin should be gone and should have been gone years ago, but in the end he will still be here years from now. The front office is full of idiots who have no idea how to build a roster, and it’s starting to show. They let all these good players go, so they don’t have to pay them, draft there replacements, and there replacements are trash. Zac decideds instead of hiring one the big DC available, he will hire his buddy, who is turning out to be terrible!

Just when the offense finds its way, starts running the ball and looking great, the defense can’t even make one freaking stop to win a game. I’m getting so sick of this stupid shit every year, it’s just getting annoying anymore knowing what’s going to happen in the end.

Ehhhh, I would say that the FO has no idea how to build a defense. Offensively the FO does well. They draft reasonably well and generally do a decent job retaining talent. There have been challenges, particularly on the offensive line, but overall they do a solid job there imo.

Defensively, though, they are just mind-blowingly awful. You couldn't draft as badly on defense as the Bengals do if you tried. The last true blue chipper they drafted was probably Jesse Bates, and that's been a while. Then to add insult to injury they routinely make poor decisions on retaining the rare defensive talent they do draft (like Bates) or luck into in FA. I couldn't stop laughing yesterday when Taylor was babbling about the defense needed leadership in the locker room and someone to take accountability. Accountability for what, being put in an impossible position and failing?

There is a real need for accountability but it ain't in the locker room, Zac.

Maybe someone needs to sit down with the defense and those coaches to show them the definition of "Tackling" with a YouTube video or two displaying such techniques.  Since they may be foreign to that group, I would suggest a live presentation with the local pee wee football team who seem to understand this concept.
