HoosierCat
Notable on the subject of o-lines, I suspect PFF is correct. PFF Boldly Predicts Joe Burrow to Rank Among Most-Sacked Quarterbacks Again Quote Most notably, PFF boldly predicts that Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will still be among the top-five most sacked QBs in the NFL. "This was one of last season’s bold predictions, and it hit," Sam Monson wrote. "Despite significant additions to the offensive line, Joe Burrow continues to take more sacks than he should — he simply skews in that direction stylistically. Burrow would rather squeeze every last ounce out of a play than give up on it and live to fight another down. "For his career, 24.3% of pressured plays result in sacks — a largely quarterback-driven data point — a figure that comes in more than twice as high as the lowest quarterbacks in the league. Orlando Brown Jr. represents another significant addition to the line, but it won’t stop Burrow from being Burrow. He will remain one of the most-sacked quarterbacks in the league." They picked up his 5th year option for 2024, so if they so desired, they could sit on it for the time being. They could turn their attention to getting Tee's deal done and then revisit Burrow at a later date. While I would rather see them get Burrow's deal done, that happening is not predicated on his injury. True the Bengals don't have to. But it seems likely they will get one done soon. I'm just wondering IF the cloudly no information on a return is linked to finalizing the final details of his deal. Certainly there had to be some healing time from the injury. I would not have been shocked if every party had a collective "oh fuck" when Burrow pulled up lame not just in terms of playing, but all the work that has transpired on a deal. Would not be a shock to me if they (Bengals and Burrow) are slow walking a return to the field in part trying to get the deal finalized. If I was Burrow and/or his agent there's no way in hell I'm stepping on the field without that deal. Wouldn't have done it at the of start of TC and now that they've gotten the scare I would hope they learned a lesson.

I think he was a superstar that needed to improve. I think he learned to get check downs more often. I think that light came in Baltimore. From that point the offense started getting back into gear while the line got reps with each other. I'd be shocked if Burrow went back to taking that many negative plays again. 49 sacks or more? That just bad O-line coaching or reckless QBing. Without a bunch of injuries along the line they should run Pollack out of town if he's the among the top 5 sacked. The no information on a return is because teams don't have to give out injury information if they don't want to at this point. So you don't think Burrow should step on the field without a new deal despite having two years left on his current contract? It also can't be forgotten that they can always use the tag after his option year, so it's really at a minimum of 3 years of control on the team's part. They could even tag again, but that's typically not a financial option for most teams. There is no win for Burrow heading in that direction. I agree the deal still gets done sooner rather than later, but suggesting it's going to happen because of his current injury or to suggest he shouldn't get back on the field is pointless. There is simply nothing that points to either of those things being the case.

ArmyBengal
I have never been a fan of Siemian and last night only confirmed my beliefs. Not a quality backup.
Stripes
I’m not going to assess that yet. His line was terrible in the second half, and he is still learning the offense. He might be that bad, but I will give him a chance.
ArmyBengal
I suppose but a better line won’t help him from staring down receivers. Here’s to hoping this is Burrow’s last ding of the year.

ArmyBengal
If my biggest concern with the team is which QB will be sitting the bench the most, I’d say we are doing alright !! Just noting what I saw last night at one of the position battles going on with the team. So ready for week 1 to get here !!

Stripes
Looks like he wasn’t clued in to the snap count and/or he thought it was a screen. Whatever though, he has been beyond awful. He’s gone without an immediate major turnaround.

That said, the fact he was playing in the fourth quarter while Jonah sat tells you everything you need to know about who will be the starting RT week 1. ArmyBengal
Yeah but even after the ball was snapped, he had to see that cavalcade of “Whoop Ass” running by him unimpeded to the QB. Maybe he has narcolepsy ?!?!

ArmyBengal
Tycen Anderson, even outside the two picks, played really well when given the opportunity Friday. People forget about him because of his injuries, but if he remains healthy, he will be solid depth if nothing else. Another thing people either don't know or forgot is his athletic ability. Both Dax Hill and Cam Taylor Britt ran a 4.38 in the 40. Anderson ran a 4.36. Stay healthy Tycen !!
