Apparently there is a twitter beef a brewing between Joey Porter Jr and Burfict.   Porter Jr let it be known they did not like Burfict.   OK.

Burfict's response "Fuck Your Daddy"   lol.   That's classic.   Burfict very dirty player but I absolutely love how he is still in the heads of Steeler fans.

Of course Steeler fans believe Porter Jr gonna lock down Chase.  OK good luck.

But ALL Steeler fans loved the head hunting Shazier.   How's he walking today?

Bengals.com:

The Bengals today placed DT Devonnsha Maxwell on the Reserve/Injured list with a right knee injury. Maxwell, a rookie out of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, signed with the Bengals as a college free agent in May.

Also from bengals.com, Pollack on the RT competition. Sounds like Jonah has the edge.

Offensive line coach Frank Pollack says Jonah Williams and Jackson Carman are still battling for the right tackle spot and there is no timetable to name a starter as the coaches set the lineup for Friday's preseason opener (7 p.m.-Local 12, NFL Network) against the Packers at Paycor Stadium. Before that is Wednesday's workout with Green Bay on the Kettering Health Practice Fields.

"I love it to be day one of camp, but we'll let these guys compete," Pollack said after Sunday's practice. " We'll let our guys get through a couple of games and get (practices against) Green Bay, so I think it's fair to both those guys to really up their game and compete against another team, as opposed to our own."

They've been rotating with the ones and Williams has responded on two fronts, his rehab from surgery for a dislocated kneecap and his move from left to right tackle, a position he hasn't played since his freshman year at Alabama. The quickness of Williams' transition has surprised Pollack.

"It's really been a lot more seamless and smooth than I would anticipate for any guy. So it just shows the quality player that Jonah is," Pollack said. "He looks like he's been there for a few years. I'm impressed. I mean, hats off to him. It shows that he took the challenge and he worked on it every chance he could while he was rehabbing his knee."

Carman hasn't played the right side in the NFL in a game, but he backed up both spots last season in practice and Pollack is hoping more snaps on one side leads to more consistency.

"He's having a good camp. He may have a down day, but he recovers from it the next day. He doesn't spiral out of control," Pollack said. "He still jumps out as far as his athleticism and his power. He's getting a better understanding as far as what it means to be a tackle from an assignment standpoint, how to handle different movement and pressures and communicating better with his guard.

"He just needs to get a little bit more from a consistency standpoint."

got a chance to go to camp yesterday.     The most fans I have ever seen for a practice on the practice fields.

Overall, I though the offense looked sloppy.   Several balls on the ground.  Orlando Brown gave up a sack.

However, IF Irv Smith stays healthy he will produce the best TE season we've had since Eifert 2015.

Just goes to show how stupid that situation was and how stupid people still are about it.
Burfict hasn't been in the league for 4 years and it's been 5 since he played for the Bengals.
Basically an entire overall of what the organization was back in 2018, but whatever.
Burfict has ZERO to do with the Bengals today and to be honest, that's the first time I've seen his name in quite some time.  But hey Steelers fans, if it takes bringing up Burfict to light a fire under your team, I think you have bigger problems.

Saw the first Depth Chart was released.  The only oddity of sorts was seeing Myles behind Sample on the depth chart.  But, most rookies are in similar situations regardless except Battle I believe.

Yet, I'd think a 1st round pick could out-play Sample at some point early on? I know Cam has looked better/good in camp,  and of course has multiple seasons of experience, but figured Myles would play a significant role in the rotation at some point this season.

Realize this could change in a week,  but did they really just draft him for depth behind Hubbard and Tre for the next 2-3 years?  Or maybe that happens when you just draft a true BPA at the end of the 1st.

I got a close up look at the D-line.  They did their tech/position drills on the kicking/rehab field.   Overall an impressive looking bunch.   It doesn't surprise me Murphy may have to work his way up the depth chart.

Keep in mind, I've worked 0 hours as NFL anything.

Yeah not shocked or even worried yet.

I guess it'll be interesting to see if he flashes more than Sample in preseason games,  just too much of a talent gap IMO.    Want him to work so that Hubbard/TH get more snaps off, w/o the production or consistency dropping-off like it does.  Hopefully Sample turns into something too, I don't care who does I guess.

I am of the mine of thought that thinks Murphy gets plenty of snaps. Whether simply as a backup to give Hubbard and T-Rex a breather or in different packages where he’s simply the head hunter. Glad we have Sample and Ossai, but my money is on Murphy getting the lion’s share of snaps after the starters.

Then again, I’m totally guessing…

What the fuck is Pollack talking about?  This rusty gate gave up 12 sacks last year, and by many ratings services he was the worst starting tackle in the league.  I’m really starting to question Pollack’s coaching.

I think Jonah is mid tier and I think the Bengals think that too.   Supposedly they refused trades lower than 2nd round pick because they feel he'll get a contract that will bring them back a decent comp pick.  We'll see on that front.  I hope/feel like Williams is the best RT Burrow has had.

Adeniji not being mentioned in any line battle is more the mystery and question of Pollack.   That and the fact he started La'el Collins off two practices and watched him play completely like shit the first two weeks.   Also it seems like the 3+ sack game is becoming the norm.

Remember the old line coach that everyone thought was a goof?  He is miles better so far, IMO.    But you give Pollack benefit of the doubt considering the personnel turnover.   But I think he's all out of excuses starting September.  Cleveland has owned his line's ass for far too long.

Eh, my read on those comments was more along the lines of Pollack saying that moving Jonah over has been less of a disaster than he thought, and throwing some faint praise in because his butt is still sore and we don’t want to risk reaggravating the hurt. IMHO the real bummer is to hear Carman is still a project going into year three.

Some injury updates from Hobs:

WR Charlie Jones (shoulder) was back Monday. Didn’t do team drills but ran and fielded some punts. Up to the docs whether he gets back into drills tomorrow or Friday.

Cappa (strained something Sunday) was out Monday. Ford took his place.

Chido still coming along, did some one-on-ones.

Fwiw, the quotes in the athletic article are glowing - from several of the coaches, on Jonah to RT. I would characterize them differently from Hoosier’s take .

Like they are straight up saying he’s good?  Then we will see.

Jonah could be that type of player that practices well, absorbs information quickly, and once he gets a feel for how to play against his practice opponents, he can handle them.  But once he gets in a game, just the speed of the game, the intensity, whatever it is, he just can’t play up to the level his practices would seem to indicate.  The opposite of a gamer.  The opposite of Burrow.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned regarding this time of the season, it’s that everyone looks great in camp, the write ups are almost always glowing, and they are all pretty much not something to get worked up about.

Don’t get me wrong, I love reading all of it, but simply take it with a grain of salt.

I don't think so.   Just based on last year's camp reports it was obvious the line was going to get whooped week 1 vs. the Steelers.    That happened.    The daily updates about the line last year and previous have been brutal.

I look at it from the perspective of if the majority of the reports coming out of camp say how much they are struggling, they run the risk of people not being as interested in the team and not getting butts in seats.

Are there factual reports? Of course there are and yes, the o-line was a well known weakness heading into last year.

Like I said though, I love reading it.
I just don’t go 100% believing it all.
