Week 9: Panthers @ Bengals

Season's pretty much over if you ask me, as far as the post-season goes.   No way they overcome injuries to 3 of their top 5 players over the next month/season, not that deep/good.

Now they can always go out and win these games I guess, but after last night's debacle, I don't see it.   It's like the coaching staff didn't even bother either.

One of the most disappointing seasons so far in my lifetime.  Zac Taylor showing his true colors again, he's sucked a$$ every year here except last year, when they avoided injuries except for RT.

It doesn't matter in my opinion.

This team is not going to get better before the schedule gets harder.
Even when it does, I have NO FAITH in the coaches to do what needs to be done.
After what they did last night, against an inferior team, a division rival, on national TV, what we saw is what they are.

I didn't have much faith in them beating the likes of KC or Buffalo anyway.
This team is barely going through motions.

I guess the best I can say is that, just like I didn’t read too much into the win over Atlanta, I’m trying not to read too much into the loss to the browns. They got clobbered because everything went wrong: poor plan, poor playcalling, poor execution and a rash of injuries to critical players. They’re unlikely to crap out in every phase of the game next week so this game is probably better. Whether that makes a difference, next Sunday and long term, is up to them.

Lots of problems with that line.    Williams on the edge in pass pro is a huge disappointment.     Given the light boxes, DE more interested in pass rush, and LBs more interested in coverage the interior line/RB is a problem not to have more production in terms of average.

"May" TJ ??  She's the starting CB this weekend.  Get her some Gatorade or whatever the hell it takes.

So the 2-6 Panthers are coming to town with "who knows" at QB and having just lost to the Falcons in a most ridiculous way.
Oh by the way, the Panthers have yet to win on the road this year, currently sitting at 0-3 in that category.

Sounds like the Bengals don't have a chance.

I don't post here much because I've heard all the analyzing and what ifs, should have dones, trades to be made, positions to draft, etc for the last 54 years, and it makes no difference with this franchise.

Yes, I know the 'PURPOSE' of the forums, and it's being utilized exactly for the purpose it exists.

Guys like to have a voice and blow off steam.

This place was designed for that, and I get that.

But, from a guy who's been a fan, at the age of almost 15, since PB came to Cincinnati and started this franchise in 1968, I've learned, after 54 years, that it's EITHER move on to another team, (which I will not do), OR it's approach each game 'expecting the worst, while hoping for the best'!  It's just that simple.

I choose the 'OR' approach, because, for me, I know that allowing the lunacy of this franchise to raise my blood pressure and cause me to rant and rave, isn't good at my age, AND won't change the unexplainable, and year after year disappointment, I've seen now for 54 years, one iota!

Did you know that, since this franchise was birthed in 1968, out of the 32 current teams, only 2 have NEVER had consecutive seasons of at least one playoff win?

The Lions and our beloved Bengals.

At least the Lions managed to scrape together 2 consecutive seasons of playoff wins in 1952 and 1953.

It's embarrassing when teams that were birthed AFTER the Bengals, like the Jaguars, Texans, and Panthers can boast at least 2 consecutive seasons with playoff victories!

Last year was their chance at a Lombardi.  I call it their New Orleans Saints shot!

They just needed to win one more game and I believe that would probably have happened IF the OL could have double teamed Donald on the last play, because Chase was wide open and Burrow saw him, which meant a 90% chance that was a TD, game, set, Lombardi!

Please don't confuse coming here to "rant" or spout off stupidly even when completely wrong equaling any rise in my blood pressure.
I've moved on from that a while ago.  Now, I rake leaves in the dark with a headlamp, fold my 85 year old mother in law's underwear while watching porn, cut my grass while being extremely intoxicated on my riding mower and even on occasion turn my attention to my wife when football is on TV (that really gets her going).

I'm not changing teams seeing as how I've followed since I can remember in the early 70's.  The team has more often than not let me down, pissed me off and even fucked me over when betting on them.  They are still by and large a shit organization in my opinion, who occasionally catch lightning.  Even when they catch that lightning, they fuck it up.

All that being said, I will be tuning in this Sunday hoping they don't fuck it up again.
If they do, I might turn to seeing how many of those things listed above I can do at the same time.
Think my wife on the mower, at night, intoxicated, while folding my MIL's underwear and a porn playing on my iPhone.
Shit if I could pull that off at 52, the circus might not be out of reach just yet.

I've left the forums alone this week. It's understandable that the mentality isn't a positive one, but I also think it's predictable and probably misguided. They looked great against the crappy Falcons and terrible against the crappy Browns.

Sometimes that's the NFL. An absolute ton of teams have ended up winning playoff games after having been 4-4. The Bengals have good enough players to join that company. So I will let them play on and see what happens.

Thankfully this game should be a very informative one. Carolina shouldn't be viewed as a pushover, and they have scored some points in recent memory. But they're not as talented as this Bengals team, and they don't have the same experience overcoming adversity. So if the Bengals handle them even with their injuries, great. If they don't, then they're probably not that good anyway.

Misguided ?? Probably.

However, at the midway point of the season the team should know who they are. Unless they can figure out how to be more consistent, not play half the game, improve playcalling, get better o-line play and establish a running game, I think we know how the story ends.

The schedule gets nothing but harder as we go and again, I just don’t have the faith in them at this point. The injuries mounting certainly aren’t helping them either.

Will still be rooting hard Sunday.

Eh, its a parity league.   They are 9th playoff spot and a game behind spots 4-7 and only a game ahead of several teams.      This team to this point simply hasn't stamped itself a "Super" team like we all hoped and dreamed.

1. OL is just simply a disappointment.

2. Offense in general still can't consistently make teams pick their poison like they boasted.   Play calling? Scheme? All OL?  Have no idea but this offensive unit while still youngish has never stamped itself a consistent top 5/10 unit across multiple games.

3. Injuries are now mounting.

Beat Panthers by a point,  go celebrate with some wings.   Go from there.

Hey no clue where to post this, but this is actually Volcom69 I somehow got logged off and it won’t except any of my email address. I have not had to put a email address in forever, so the one they have is probably from 2004 and long gone. I was always allowed to just put my username in. Is there no way to get my account back or am I screwed and have to start over? Thanks for any help

Same happened to me. You have a unique email generated by the site.
