TJJackson
I dont care if any TE makes it to 28. we need a pass rusher or a pass blocker
membengal
Let me introduce you to Darnell Washington, who basically operates like a 6th o-lineman with his ability to block AND has 4.66 speed and short area explosiveness.
TJJackson
Keep'em Give me an actual full time pass blocker, or better yet a pass rushing 3TDT

HoosierCat
Let the post combine mocks begin! First up, Ryan Wilson at CBS, who slides OT Anton Harrison (a popular pre combine pick) to Cincy at 28. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/nfl-mock-draft-2023-anthony-richardson-moves-up-board-new-wr1-lands-in-green-bay-in-post-combine-edition/ Given Pollack’s comments at the combine, this seems unlikely. Notably, he has Darnell Washington going two picks later. In other post combine mock draft news, I did one today at PFF. I took Washington in the first and a corner with a torn ACL in the second. I got an F for Washington and an A for the corner, so I think we can throw that mock draft machine in the trash.
ArmyBengal
As much as I do enjoy running mock draft on those sites, I go in fully understanding how completely full of shit they may be. ProFootballNetwork has one and the draft rankings are at times way different than others thinking on players. 2a. TE Darnell Washington- after trading down 5 spots and picking up an extra 2nd rounder 2b. OT Darnell Wright- RT of the future 2c. DT Calijah Kancey- How the hell does he fall this far? 3. CB Eli Ricks- In the 3rd round? Seriously? 4. RB Tyjae Spears 5. QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson 6. DE Ali Gaye 7. WR Eiljah Higgins
AMPHAR
I'd be down for any of the 3 Ds Darnell is brother Darnell or his other brother Dawand. Â

TJJackson
I think Kancey will go in the top
membengal
this is a quite good read: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2023-nfl-combine-sleepers-who-shined-these-10-had-awesome-workouts-but-are-they-actually-good-prospects/ Â Â
HoosierCat
McShay’s post combine mock up at ESPN plu$. His pick is…also Harrison. Apparently punditland isn’t buying what’s the Bengals are saying regarding the oline. Didn’t we see this movie in 2021?
HoosierCat
Brugler goes Harrison as well. https://www.si.com/nfl/bengals/allbengals-insiders-plus/bengals-select-offensive-tackle-anton-harrison-in-the-athletics-latest-mock-draft
AMPHAR
I would also be down for one of those 6'+ corners floating around the 20s.  So Darnell Wright - Yes Darnell Washington - Yes Dawand Jones - Yes Cornerback 6'+ ranked around the 20s - yes. I think some of the Safeties are interesting as well. Sydney Brown would be good.
TJJackson
pass rush pass rush pass rush oh and one more thing pass rush :-)
HoosierCat
TE or DB would be my preferences as well. I don't particularly have anything against Harrison but "backup swing tackle who might be a starter someday" doesn't exactly rev up my engines. Probably a safe pick tho. Sorry, TJ, you aren't getting pass rush at 28, TJ. Honestly looking at the DL room I'd be surprised if you got anything there before round 4. TJJackson
Considering we werent pressuring the quarterback very often, even with 91 in there, I think pass rush is not only our best option but very possible at 28 DE would be fine, but a 3TDT would be much much better Id sign Apple to a STFU contract and hold off on corner til round 4 or later. He is a severely underated cb.
ArmyBengal
TE, OT or CB There are plenty to like and someone should be there at #28 that will fill the role. See what they do with their own in free agency with maybe a new guy in there. Not stressing at this point .

There is simply no room. Unless something completely unexpected happens, I just don't see it. I don't have a problem bringing Apple back. He's boom or bust, but I think overall he's an above average player.
ArmyBengal
I would have to go look at his stats, but I’m tired and don’t feel like it, but maybe it’s not that he gets burned so much but when he does, it just looks really bad in the process.
TJJackson
I think his mouth is his biggest issue every corner gets burned on occasion, him as well
