A.J. Green injured.

No but there is no depth now at WR. Without Marvin in there it worries me this week that we have no depth. Not good at all.

Back to where they were against Atlanta, I believe. He was out for virtually the entire game. Pound on the ground play good defense. I think they can win without him.

Next week against Indy and the following week against Baltimore, not so sure.

Sure they can win, but they better be much better then last week lol. The gameplan against the Falcons was great, they pounded the ball, ran the screen game like crazy, the defense blitzed Matt Ryan made him uncomfortable all game. Where the hell was that game plan at against the Pats!

So if Green and Jones are out come Sunday, we would be looking at a WR corps of:

Sanu

Sanzenbacher

Tate

Wright

The 5th would probably be a practice squad guy I assume.

That's a heavy load for those guys on teams and being expected to be a big part of the offensive plays.

Really hoping either Green or Jones is ready on Sunday. Just one would be huge.

Initial thoughts...

1. That answers my question about who to start in fantasy this week, Mo Sanu or Kelvin Bustamin.

2. Gio Bernard receiving first two games: 11/141. Last two: 3/17. Hint hint.

3. Hey "villain" here's your big shot at redemption.

3a. Memo to our alleged defense, see point 3.

4. Paging Jeremy Hill, Jeremy Hill to the backfield, please.

5. Still love AJ but between what's becoming an annual routine with injuries, a lack of aggressiveness fighting for the ball and some fumbles in crucial situation, he's starting to lose some of that "elite" shine IMO.

Bring back Cobi Hamilton - he was just cut last week from wherever picked him up after training camp. I am not a huge Hamilton guy, but he knows the offense cold, is a deep threat, and would at least give them a 5th healthy body at WR at this point.

I was thinking about him as well, but wasn't aware he had been cut by the team he went to.

Not a bad idea.

Hobs:

A.J. Green’s most recent MRI is going to send him to another consultation with one of the nation’s leading foot specialists when he meets with Cincinnati doctor James Amis on Thursday. Since a visit with another foot specialist is also planned, it’s hard to see him being ready for Sunday’s 1 p.m. game against the Panthers at Paul Brown Stadium.

It’s believed the MRI again showed no tears or breaks, but he’s obviously still having discomfort in the ligament under the sesamoid bone in the ball of the foot underneath the big or great toe.

At this point it’s all speculation because his foot is in the hands of doctors. So anything is on the table pending what they prescribe for treatment, ranging to more treatments while playing, to shutting him down for a few weeks, or maybe longer. Green was already examined by Amis last month and he'll get looked at by at least one other doctor.

It seems he may have to just stay off of it for 3-4 weeks until it heals completely (if it's indeed turf toe - which it sounds like). It seems like he's just re-injuring it constantly, since he's practicing through it.

Without Marvin Jones either, that's a pretty sorry cast outside of Sanu.

God forbid Burfict have another relapse, they honestly will be doomed without him.

the .Com had AJ as "limited practice" yesterday .... ?????

Even if he is out and Jones (Did Not Practice) doen't make it back this week we still have Sanu, Tate, Sanzenbacher, Wright, ...Gio has proved he can catch and then we also have Teflon-Gresham. Perhaps not the greatest depth but it's not like we have nobody at all

And as far as depth is concerned, you take the top two WR targets and the top TE off any team and they will struggle with depth.

it's an opportunity for Jeremy Hill to break loose

Here's a thought, and the only reason I bring this up is because of Ken Riley, who, as an old timer fan, I have a lot of respect for.

Riley mentored this McCalebb kid and was very impressed.

Not sure how the roster thing works, but IF AJ has to sit out, can they bring his kid up to return kickoffs and see what he can do until AJ gets back?

He has to get the ball to break loose. He hasn't gotten it enough, yet. Hue needs to address that.

Hue's offense is get the ball out super fast. It's not built around having your QB stand in the pocket while your No. 1 deep threat goes through a double move or whatever to get open. Lots of chances for running backs and tight ends, quick stuff, including the immediate throw to the the wideout who then gets 4 or 5 yards hopefully. They try the deep stuff, I just don't think this offense is counting on it or built for it.

Next 4 weeks the schedule has Carolina, Indy, Baltimore, and Jacksonville. By the end of that period you would have to think that Jones, AJ, and Eifert are back.

If the Bengals can go 2-2, they are in good shape still. 3-1 is possible as well. That would have them at 6-2.

Rest AJ for the next 3-4 weeks and get him ready for the second half of the season. If there is someone on the PS than can stretch the field, maybe entertain that idea of bringing him up.

I was talking about Hill not getting the ball enough. I was responding to the posts right before what I typed.
