Wraith Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 According to PFT he was carted off the field with apparently reaggrevating the toe injury. Marvin Jones was also not practicing. Quote
cincyhokie Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 Super. This season has took a sharp turn in the past few days. Quote
Wraith Posted October 8, 2014 Author Report Posted October 8, 2014 As long as Green isn't out for long and we get Jones back we still should be ok. It did not sound season ending at least. Quote
volcom69 Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 No but there is no depth now at WR. Without Marvin in there it worries me this week that we have no depth. Not good at all.I guess we could always run the ball 50 times this game. Sucks now without a deep threat Quote
cincyhokie Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 No but there is no depth now at WR. Without Marvin in there it worries me this week that we have no depth. Not good at all.Back to where they were against Atlanta, I believe. He was out for virtually the entire game. Pound on the ground play good defense. I think they can win without him. Next week against Indy and the following week against Baltimore, not so sure. Quote
volcom69 Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 Sure they can win, but they better be much better then last week lol. The gameplan against the Falcons was great, they pounded the ball, ran the screen game like crazy, the defense blitzed Matt Ryan made him uncomfortable all game. Where the hell was that game plan at against the Pats! Quote
ArmyBengal Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 So if Green and Jones are out come Sunday, we would be looking at a WR corps of:SanuSanzenbacherTateWrightThe 5th would probably be a practice squad guy I assume. That's a heavy load for those guys on teams and being expected to be a big part of the offensive plays.Really hoping either Green or Jones is ready on Sunday. Just one would be huge. Quote
HoosierCat Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 Initial thoughts...1. That answers my question about who to start in fantasy this week, Mo Sanu or Kelvin Bustamin.2. Gio Bernard receiving first two games: 11/141. Last two: 3/17. Hint hint.3. Hey "villain" here's your big shot at redemption.3a. Memo to our alleged defense, see point 3.4. Paging Jeremy Hill, Jeremy Hill to the backfield, please.5. Still love AJ but between what's becoming an annual routine with injuries, a lack of aggressiveness fighting for the ball and some fumbles in crucial situation, he's starting to lose some of that "elite" shine IMO. membengal Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 Bring back Cobi Hamilton - he was just cut last week from wherever picked him up after training camp. I am not a huge Hamilton guy, but he knows the offense cold, is a deep threat, and would at least give them a 5th healthy body at WR at this point. Quote
TJJackson Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 I liked Cobi as well (although I think he needed to spend many many more hours with a jugs machine) but we do already have two WRs on the practice squad, so I'd assume they'd elevate one of those two guysIs Whalen still out there unsigned? (was sure he'd be snapped up by Wash, Vikes, or Indy) Quote

HoosierCat Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 Hobs:A.J. Green’s most recent MRI is going to send him to another consultation with one of the nation’s leading foot specialists when he meets with Cincinnati doctor James Amis on Thursday. Since a visit with another foot specialist is also planned, it’s hard to see him being ready for Sunday’s 1 p.m. game against the Panthers at Paul Brown Stadium. It’s believed the MRI again showed no tears or breaks, but he’s obviously still having discomfort in the ligament under the sesamoid bone in the ball of the foot underneath the big or great toe.At this point it’s all speculation because his foot is in the hands of doctors. So anything is on the table pending what they prescribe for treatment, ranging to more treatments while playing, to shutting him down for a few weeks, or maybe longer. Green was already examined by Amis last month and he'll get looked at by at least one other doctor. Quote
kodak Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 Another excuse built in for Lewis when this yr ends in disappointment. Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 It seems he may have to just stay off of it for 3-4 weeks until it heals completely (if it's indeed turf toe - which it sounds like). It seems like he's just re-injuring it constantly, since he's practicing through it.Without Marvin Jones either, that's a pretty sorry cast outside of Sanu. God forbid Burfict have another relapse, they honestly will be doomed without him. Quote
Passepartout Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 Hope it is not too serious. Where he is out for the rest of the season! Get well AJ! Quote
Scottishbengal Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 the .Com had AJ as "limited practice" yesterday .... ?????Even if he is out and Jones (Did Not Practice) doen't make it back this week we still have Sanu, Tate, Sanzenbacher, Wright, ...Gio has proved he can catch and then we also have Teflon-Gresham. Perhaps not the greatest depth but it's not like we have nobody at all Quote
Wraith Posted October 9, 2014 Author Report Posted October 9, 2014 And as far as depth is concerned, you take the top two WR targets and the top TE off any team and they will struggle with depth. Quote

membengal Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 He has to get the ball to break loose. He hasn't gotten it enough, yet. Hue needs to address that. Quote
gregcook68 Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 Here's a thought, and the only reason I bring this up is because of Ken Riley, who, as an old timer fan, I have a lot of respect for.Riley mentored this McCalebb kid and was very impressed. Not sure how the roster thing works, but IF AJ has to sit out, can they bring his kid up to return kickoffs and see what he can do until AJ gets back? COB Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 He has to get the ball to break loose. He hasn't gotten it enough, yet. Hue needs to address that.Hue's offense is get the ball out super fast. It's not built around having your QB stand in the pocket while your No. 1 deep threat goes through a double move or whatever to get open. Lots of chances for running backs and tight ends, quick stuff, including the immediate throw to the the wideout who then gets 4 or 5 yards hopefully. They try the deep stuff, I just don't think this offense is counting on it or built for it. Quote

By the end of that period you would have to think that Jones, AJ, and Eifert are back. If the Bengals can go 2-2, they are in good shape still. 3-1 is possible as well. That would have them at 6-2. Rest AJ for the next 3-4 weeks and get him ready for the second half of the season. If there is someone on the PS than can stretch the field, maybe entertain that idea of bringing him up. Quote
