Earendil Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 Team and local media get in spat at practice today, all presumably right in front of the Hard Knocks cameras. Normally moribund Bengals PR department managed to step in and find a solution after the media declared a boycott of practice.Details man! Details! Quote
volcom69 Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 Sounds like Tyler Eifert is catching everything and anything. Hope he continues to do so, and they were also saying Marvin Jones is catching good as well. Quote
HoosierCat Posted July 26, 2013 Author Report Posted July 26, 2013 Team and local media get in spat at practice today, all presumably right in front of the Hard Knocks cameras. Normally moribund Bengals PR department managed to step in and find a solution after the media declared a boycott of practice.Details man! Details! The Bengals, claiming they were just trying to reduce sidelin collisions (which I don't recall ever being a problem) decided to limit the press to three locations with crappy views of the practice field. The press responded by boycotting the first hour of practice and taking to twitter to bitch about the new policy. Bengals PR, which must have figured that "the team versus the media" wasn't a story line they wanted on HBO, interceded and got the restrictions lifted for photos so at least they could get some good pictures. At that point the reporters called off their strike.Dumbassery all around (press included) if you ask me. Fortunately as drama goes its pretty minor. Quote

COB Posted July 28, 2013 Report Posted July 28, 2013 Reedy says Kirkpatrick has really looked good the last 3 days. That is so big for this defense if he can live up to his draft spot. Quote
HoosierCat Posted July 28, 2013 Author Report Posted July 28, 2013 Be sure to follow @JustBeWarned for great live tweets from campAlso @AndrewFoxMiller. The CJ guys killed it yesterday and will be back at camp again today. I know I sound like a pimp for CJ ( I don't write for josh any longer, tho) but they really give you more of the action than you get from reedy or Hobson. Highly recommended. Quote
HoosierCat Posted July 28, 2013 Author Report Posted July 28, 2013 Andre Smith just tweeted that he's been clered to practice. On a related note, based on this pic.../>https://mobile.twitter.com/AndrewFoxMiller/status/361578758513238017/photo/1...I am considering retiring the nickname "Moobs" in favor of "Gilligan." Quote

ArmyBengal Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 I don't really have a problem with either of these two guys "earning" the starters spot.My problem is having two guys I don't think much of.Cook might know the offense like the back of his hand, but he knows the field from being on his back.He just hasn't shown the physicality from the center position I think we need.I don't know, maybe i'm watching a different Cook... Quote
Sea Ray Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 Cook had better be a different guy than what we saw from him last year Quote
membengal Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 I confess to not hating Cook like some of you all do. Quote

Two words - Paul Alexander. Quote
skyline Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Cook was a perfectly serviceable center until last season when he was fighting injury.Neither he nor Robinson are awe-inspiring, but I trust the coaches to pick the better of the two. If this is our biggest problem this year, then color me optimistic. Quote
Sea Ray Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 I don't hate Cook. I save that for guys like his predecessor, "Guy"check Quote
TJJackson Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Bold/stupid camp predictionBarring injury, and regardless of whether the other WRs get injured or traded, Cobi Hamilton either makes the 53 (99%) or is traded prior to Game 1 to a receiver-needy team (1%) Quote
ArmyBengal Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 For anyone that hasn't taken a look at Cobi Hamilton and what he did at Arkansas, you should.I agree with you TJ and think he will be a better than average WR in the league.Where he fits here remains to be seen, but hope he sticks. Quote
Wraith Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Cobi is insurance against AJ going out for an extended period of time, he has the body type and physical ability to run AJ's route tree (not as well certainly). Last year they didn't have that guy.IMHO he absolutely makes the 53. Quote
Stripes Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 I like Cobi's chances more than Tate's. I'll be disappointed if he doesn't make the cut and someone like Sanzenbacher does. Quote
TJJackson Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 As mentioned in the Dunlap extension thread, he's out for a while with a concussion, probably will miss the first preseason gameAnd now DT Brandon Thompson is out for a few weeks as well/>http://www.cincyjungle.com/2013/7/31/4575288/brandon-thompson-will-miss-a-few-weeks-with-a-sprained-knee/in/4321331Add that the Green's knee......injuries already mounting.......and its waaaaaay early Quote
HoosierCat Posted July 31, 2013 Author Report Posted July 31, 2013 They also had rookie DT Larry Black carted off with a leg injury. Between Thompson, Dunlap and Black I hope this isn't a sign that the defensive line gets to be this year's position with all the injuries. Quote
membengal Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 Don't be old women. Jeebus.Injuries are a part of it. They are "mounting" for every team. Quote
volcom69 Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 Let the guys rest and heal the injuries no need to rush them back now. Dunlap is a mild concussion so hopefully it's not to bad, and if he misses the first preseason game then oh well. Quote
