jjakq27 Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 per the dotcom...MB speakshttp://www.bengals.c...bc-d9c93a0f3418Bengals president Mike Brown confirmed Monday that quarterback Carson Palmer met with him last week and requested a trade and that he turned him down. "He's key to our plans. He's central to us. He was told that. We count on him going forward. He was told we were in no position to trade him, Brown said here at the Senior Bowl. "It would not be something we would consider doing...We are not looking for offers."

We're hoping". Holy s**t. Does Mikey have a f**king pulse? This is beyond bizzare and insane.
DC_Bengals_Fan Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 God, this is sad. Reminds me of the Barry Sanders shibacle.Looks like Mikey's willing to take this one all the way. Not surprising. Should at least make for an entertaining winter and spring.
HoosierCat Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Thornton offers this note: Quote Just wanted to give a little back round on David Dunn, Carson’s agent. I hired him and Athletes First after the 2005 season. Good classy people and they work well with top QBs. From Drew Bledsoe, Trent Dilfer, M Hassleback, Palmer, M Sanchez, A Rodgers, and many more. So they know what they are doing here. They have a great relationship with the Bengals as well. Not only doing Carson’s deal, but did Corey Dillon’s, TJ Houshmandzadeh’s deal, Akili Smith’s, and DC Mike Zimmer’s deal. I could probably find more names but you get the point. These guys wouldn’t let something like this get out unless they meant business. I’m also sure that they know the current QB market out there and have a good place in mind for Carson. If the Bengals told Dave to go out and find us a good deal for Palmer, I’m sure he could. But if Mike Brown says no, this could drag out. How about Carson to the 49ers? Jim Harbaugh just signed a big deal to become the 49ers new coach and the have zero QBs. And guess who negotiated the deal for Harbaugh? David Dunn.
HoosierCat Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Via bengals.com, a statement from Carson released by his agent: Quote Carson met with Bengals owner Mike Brown recently. They both expressed profound disappointment in how the team fared last season, and in how it has generally performed during Carson's tenure with the team. Because of the lack of success that Carson and the Bengals have experienced together, Carson strongly feels that a separation between him and the Bengals would be in the best interest of both parties. Carson could not respect the Brown family any more than he does or be more appreciative of what the Browns have done for him and his wife Shaelyn and his family.

damiancasey Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 I had a weird - never before seen shift in my attitude about 1/3 of the way into this past season. I went from very engaged and excited to apathetic, resentful, and mildly annoyed. I haven’t felt that way since the late nineties and I realized I had been fooled twice so shame on me.Whatever is going on with Palmer is just a symptom of a bigger problem. I’m amazed at the posts that say he sucks and he’s the reason the Bengals fell face first into the s**tpile. Palmer is a very solid QB. Put him in a better system and he’s on fire. The issue? The Bengals organization is just a giant soup-sandwich.

I have a feeling Carson has thrown his last NFL pass, if SoP carries on with this nonsense.SoP, you are an embarrassment.Edit to add:I also just noticed what I think is a mis-quote on the .com: SoP stating:"We want him to re-up and we want him back in good spirit and my belief is in time he will come around," Brown said. "This was a deeply disappointing season for us. We've all suffered from it. It's time now for despondency and accusations. We'll work through it. I do believe it will rebound. We'll catch our breath and I think we'll give a good account of ourselves the next time out. I believe that to my core."I think he means the opposite, or was mis-quoted? He surely cannot think that, right?
ct_bengal Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 wtf is mike browns problem, i like carson and if he wants out then let him go and give him a shot at some kind of success. I hope carson does follow through and retire. brown is so money driven its un-f**king believable...
kingwilly Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 I love the part where SoP states they are going to try and figure out what is "stuck in his craw".... WTF!As if SoP cannot figure out what the issue is. SoP, the man would rather give up MILLIONS of DOLLARS than work for you and your piece of junk team. Stuck in his craw? Full on idiot. The depths of his incompetence are truly unchartered, in a Mariana trench-like kind of way.

Stick your head in the sand and hope it all goes away. Nice catch, tho. That's got sig written all over it.
TJJackson Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Still waiting to hear from Carson himself. The opinion I hold of sports agents is generally lower than used car salesmen, rent-a-center, payday loan centers, evangelists with their palm up and outstretched at every given opportunity, and (sorry Greg) lawyers in general. I basically ignore statements from agents.I have even less respect for Son-of-Paul, so I ignore his statement as wellThat said, if I assume that what we now know is the basic truth of it, my gut tells me this goes the Barry Sander's route barring some minor miracle.

TJJackson Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Thats a statement from the agentThat said, I fully acknowledge that the preponderance (did I spell that right, Greg?) of the evidence at this point strongly suggests this is all true, regardless of Carson's silence on the matter
Walrus Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Wow. It pains me to say it, but I'm with those who are on the cusp of dropping this team altogether. As a fan of Palmer, he's one of the few things that represents anything good or hopeful about this franchise. I have no appetite to start cheering for the next Klingler or Smith. Mike Brown is a grade-A monglotard.
Kazkal Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Well it's official Carson clearly doesn't want back and Mike Brown acourse is going to be stubborn...Bengals.com mentioned he could be traded but it would have to be before march 4th?I thought you couldn't trade until free agency started?

Not sure if that something is no Chad, no Brat, a tougher Marvin, more Cedric or what.Maybe More Cedric and AJ Green @ 4# But then again Cedric doesn't wanna come back with brat here and Mike brown refuses to fire brat.
generaldreedle Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 I hope Carson does retire. If Mike and Marvin think the media blasts them now, just wait until Carson retires and they are left with LeFevour as their starting QB for 2011. We will be lucky to be 4-12 then.
HoosierCat Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 A few more details from Johansen's twitter: Quote According to sources Palmer made numerous requests to Mike Brown for change in order to return. Non will happen. "Can't see him returning."So Carson did, in fact, point fingers at someone and/or something then.//He asked for changesHow do you see this playing out?//wouldn't surprise me at all if he retireddo u think its marvin that CP didn't want to play with??//much more than that
Kazkal Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Well I wouldn't say he pointed the finger but Stated the obivous that only one man doesn't seem to get...Hell even Marvin, Brat & Alexander knew if they were working for any other team they would be fired by now.
membengal Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Go on w/ your bad self carson. As god is my witness, he's the only one who actually can personify fan discontent to f**kface brown. I am rooting for him to make good on his threat to retire. I really have reached my snapping point with SoP this time around. I really couldn't believe he would actually keep marvin AND brat, and yet, here we are. Rage against the machine carson, and good luck.
