My bad, I didn't give the perspective from run blocking vs. pass blocking. Duh, that's kind of important. Last in run blocking... Here, read for yourself:

Well when looking at both Hurst's and Moreau's stats from last season, they are fairly close. Hurst- 52 catches on 68 targets, 414 yards and 2 TD's, 26 first down catches, 8 yards per catch Moreau- 33 catches on 54 targets, 420 yards and 2 TD's, 24 first down catches, 13 yards per catch Looking at that alone, it's not hard to see Moreau have the same impact that Hurst had in 2022. However, and this is big, he was the worst blocking TE in the league last year.

Same story, new season. Wash, rinse, repeat. By repeat, I mean fail.

It would not surprise me to see them wait on an OT and let the combo of Carman and Ford battle out for the RT spot in the hopes of Collins coming back early (he won't). In regards to an interior D-lineman, I agree with the need and would have no issue with adding one at #28. I still don't think Carter falls that far regardless of personal issues. I'm really not a fan of Bresee as he's not very dynamic and has injury concerns. Kancey I'm totally 100% all in on, just not thinking he makes it to us at #28. After that it's kind of a mixed bag for me. CB is another position I look at the same way. All the top end guys are gone and then it's a mixed bag for a player at the #28 spot. Do you reach or take a higher rated guy at another position? Jumping back to OT, I would have no problem with Wright from Tennessee. Initially I wanted a guy that could come in at RT and then possibly transition to LT when Jonah left. That's out with the addition of Brown, so give me the best RT there is. However, it doesn't appear that's what the Bengals are thinking. TE just seems like one of those positions where there will be a player they view as being worthy of investing a 1st round pick on. An outlier for me at #28 should everything else go to shit is RB. Then again, seeing as how I have no idea what the hell happens in the front office and the draft room, I could be completely off and they end up taking a WR or some shit like that...

Sounds like Bates' situation. Had an offer and thought he was worth more. Difference obviously being that Bates wasn't a free agent. We could have gotten in on that one year deal, but if we weren't paying Bates that kind of coin, we aren't paying someone else outside the organization that coin either.

My point in that is, for example... The Falcons are saying they are good with Ridder. While I think they are crazy personally for taking that approach, there may be more reasons for saying that than simply because they are pushing back against guaranteed contracts. I also acknowledge that could be the case. However, the Falcons did invest a 3rd round pick in him and it isn't like the guy is a total bust at this point in starting 4 games. If they want to (I guess they would) try to build around him, they wouldn't in and of itself, be wrong. They do have cap space to add a contract of Jackson's like. Maybe that's simply not their philosophy in giving up the picks, as they want to build through the draft and 2 first rounders are big. Also, if they are going to put in all this work to get him, what's it going to take for the Ravens to not match that deal? If the Ravens decide to match, now they have a QB that may be pissed (like Williams) in trying to bring in someone to take his job. That lets Ridder know how they feel about him. All that being said, I think they would crazy to NOT consider Jackson, but my thoughts aren't a consideration. That and I have no idea how the Falcons approach shit. Again, I'm not saying it's not collusion. I'm saying there are many reasons outside of that, which would keep a team from pulling the trigger.

Oh don't get me wrong Mem. I'm only talking about what the teams appear to be doing or saying. It has nothing to do with what I would want as a fan. Again, there are more factors involved then simply saying a team should do this or that. Salary cap implications in the time of the rookie wage scale are huge. The Bengals have benefitted MASSIVELY by not having to pay Burrow these last few years. It allows teams to continue building around their QB for years to come without giving up the farm.

So it got me wondering about each team and their QB situation. By "set" I'm thinking they either have their guy or wouldn't move on from what they have. AFC East- Bills and Dolphins are set. The Pats have Mac Jones they won't give up on right now (I think they should) and the Jets are going after Rodgers. I wouldn't guess either the Pats or Jets would give 2 first rounders. AFC North- Outside of the Ravens, everyone else is set. AFC South- Titans and Jags are set. Both the Texans and Colts are looking for a QB, but are sitting at the top of the pecking order to get one (#2 and #4). Question is, do they feel the draft is the better way to go considering you can get a QB for 5 years on the cheap and not give up a single pick to do it, let alone first round picks? I'm guessing the draft there. AFC West- Chiefs, Chargers and Broncos are set and the Raiders just got Garappolo. So no one I'm assuming. NFC East- Eagles, Cowboys and Giants are set, with the Commanders being in play and picking #16, but from all accounts are hurting from a cap space concern. That may have or will change. Plus that front office is a fucking nightmare that is looking to sell the team. NFC North- I don't think the Bears and Vikings are moving off of Fields and Cousins respectively (I could be wrong). Goff is signed with the Lions through 2024. Will the Packers go with Love after Rodgers leaves. I'm guessing yes. NFC South- The Saints and Falcons appear set to roll with Carr and Ridder respectively. The Falcons seem ok with Mayfield as their week one starter. The Panthers just traded up to #1 so we know how that ends... QB. NFC West- I don't think any of these teams (49er's, Seahawks, Rams and Cardinals) are moving off of their starters. So, by the way I'm looking at this I would say there are 2-5 teams total who actually "might" consider this with the Commanders leading the way. That's kind of slim pickings for Jackson. The points about giving up 2 first rounders, paying him top of the market, cap space concerns, and the Ravens being able to match are all really good considerations. That's why I don't really see the collusion aspect of things. Teams simply don't move off the starters they have invested time and money into very often.

Agree in that if I were betting, I would say a blocking TE will be the direction. The loss of Perine in being the best blocking RB we had plays a big part in that. His skills have to be replaced one way or another.

Between Mayer, Kincaid and Washington, no one from that group would either surprise or upset me at #28. Mayer and Washington for their blocking ability and Kincaid for what he can do in the pass game. Of all, I still personally like Kincaid most. Something about his attitude and style of play. He seems like a guy that would fit in this offense best.

Kaepernick was also a complete tool bag that wanted to be an activist more than a football player. He turned down contracts offers and completely didn’t think through his approach in taking a stand for something he believed in. I fucking hate that guy. HATE…

The CBA doesn’t forbid fully guaranteed contracts (Duh Watson) but it also doesn’t demand them either. Teams have the ability to decide for themselves if they want to or not. Right now, they decide they don’t want to. While I agree collusion occurs and it may very well be happening here to a degree, there’s nothing saying they have to hand him what he’s looking for. There are plenty of free agents that have high contract demands that don’t get met. Is it collusion that no one has signed the safety from the Eagles or is that fucker just asking too much and the teams are passing?

The turd will figure it out without any help on their part. Unfortunately you can’t say the same if the Reds. This team is fucking doomed and the season hasn’t even started. They will consider the season a success if the fans in the right field bar area lead the league in longest cup snake for the year…

The cupboard is bare in the TE room, so I won't complain, but I want a TE from the draft as our starter come week 1. No reason to spend big at the position when there are so many mouths to feed in this offense. Get the rookie on the cheap and build into what we do for the next 4-5 seasons.

It only takes one GM, coach or whatever to think Jonah could use a change of scenery. Couple that with the fact it really is hard to find even an average LT for trade and they might get someone to make an offer. I would quickly take anything 4th round or above, save the 12 million for one of the many others coming due, and draft a new OT next month to bring along. I still think Jonah needs to man the fuck up and get reps at RT. I was intrigued thinking about him as the starting RT. Far more than any other player on the roster not named Collins.

Loved Fournette coming out in the draft. Dude has been beaten for years and is a shell of his former self. Hard NO. Give me the young kid in the draft with something to prove.

He gets the opportunity to run roughshod on the Ravens twice a year. That and being a rival of the Chiefs has to have some appeal for him.

I still really like this kid. His grade stats don't bear out, but he's going to be better in 2023. It always amazes me that despite late round guys needing time to grow into their game, that this kid gets hate despite beating out our 2nd round pick and then proceeding to start (I think) every game at LG in 2022 as a rookie. It's not like he got his college playing time in the SEC either. He went to Mother Mary of the Blind or some shit. Their championship game was against the Boys of Bismarck Choir if I'm not mistaken. Good for him !!

Understatement of 2023. The only thing that sucks more than the 2023 Reds, is the Reds ownership. Those clowns couldn't lead a turd out of their ass, let alone the Reds to a World Series.
