Report: Bengals Plan to PayJoe This Offseason
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
Nice to see that breakdown for Hurts' contract and certainly makes me feel better about the cap hits. I'm sure the Bengals are looking at all of that as well. Just need to hang tight and let them get it done. Hoping for sooner rather than later, so they can start working on the many more needing to get wrapped up. I'm still in shock a little in them signing Orlando Brown despite all others needing to get done. So not something the older version of the Bengals would have tried to get fit in. LOVE IT !! -
That draft through 3, while fine, would not move the needled much for me. That would be the first time I've seen Brents name higher than the 3rd round and mostly later. I don't have any issues with him, but at 28? Not really interested. Isn't Bergeron a LT? Looks like he's had a handful of starts at RT, but mostly a LT. Pinning the hopes of him becoming the day 1 starter at RT is probably no better than any of the other guys currently on the roster, so I will pass on him. So to now they have reached for a guy and taken a LT with the hopes of him competing for the RT spot. How do they follow that up? Of course with a pick that has zero chance of starting in 2023 and probably not seeing the field much at all. While coming off an injury, the Bengals did take Tycen Anderson last year and the coaches were really high on him. This draft would not give me much to smile about and, as always, needing to answer the, "Who else was on the board?" question. Suck it McShay...

No shocker with Collins, as I wouldn't be surprised to see him miss almost the entire regular season.

My thoughts exactly. I'm interested to see how much difference there is in guaranteed coin for these QB deals coming. -

Seriously? -
Awuzie at 100% will make me feel very good about the secondary. Not so good I wouldn't use a high round selection on a CB, but still...
-
I won’t have any heartburn no matter where they take a TE. The difference obviously is having that first round guy carry the 5th year option. CB, OT, or TE would all work for me and even a DT if Kancey were to be there.

In a side note for locals… https://www.eventbrite.com/e/first-star-logistics-annual-bengals-draft-party-tickets-602844964517 Lapham62 is the access code for anyone interested. Free tickets. ArmyBengal Jr. and I are headed down.

Ok, here we are a couple weeks out. I would love Darnell Wright or Calijah Kancey in the first. If I was going to take a guess at what I think will happen, I will go with them taking TE Darnell Wright. The guy is like another lineman with his string AF blocking skill set , which they need, and a good pass catcher that happens to be a 6’7 red zone nightmare. Couple that with the loss of Perrine, who was their best blocking back, and it’s not hard to see. Want another reason?? He was number 0 in college and could be the first with that number here. That last part was a joke of course, but still true.

No interest from other teams, should equal lower salary for us. Haven’t seen anything yet though.
-
I like Turner at the CB spot. No issues there. I’m still not sold on a nearly 380 OT. Being a Buckeye fan I would be happy to root for him assuming he doesn’t get Burrow killed.
-
No objection. Hated the pick at that time and it’s not he’s lived up to that, but that’s neither here nor there at this point.
-
Yes, my son. The draft will get here. Now go say 10 Hail Mary's and stop playing with yourself so much.
-
The Bills organization and the City should be willing to pay whatever amount of money will be required to get the fuck out of that toilet, shit hole, bowl of a stadium. While I loved how great the views were from anywhere in the house (they were seriously awesome) that place sucks fat donkey balls. Come to think of it, I digress. Those fans deserve that stadium.

That dude should be holding a clip board and learning as much as he can for at least his rookie season. He’s not a week one starter and Cincinnati would be a great place for him to learn, sitting behind one of the leagues best.

I'm happy to see one of the QB's I think would be a nice add in later rounds will be getting a visit. Dorian Thompson-Robinson in today and tomorrow. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/04/11/dorian-thompson-robinson-in-cincinnati-meeting-with-bengals/

It's an interesting concept and I've said this many times in the past. "Who else was on the board?" So lets say we take TE Meyer at #28. Then I see that Darnell Wright was still on the board and I may think getting a starting RT was a better option. So now I may dislike that pick. Maybe both Wright and Kancey are on the board and now I fucking hate Meyer like he killed my dog. However, maybe all of those guys are gone and other positions of need represent some pretty decent reaches to take in the first round. Now I'm in love with Meyer and we are going back to the Super Bowl.

If the question was name ONE player currently thought to be a "potential" first round pick that you think is completely overhyped and will end up being a bust, my answer would easily be Bryan Bresee. I don't even know if number 2 on my list is in visual distance of this dude. He has had both an ACL and shoulder surgeries while in college, doesn't strike me as a difference maker with sacks or even collapsing the pocket, and appears to just eat space despite playing at less than 300 pounds. I have watched Clemson play many times this year and you could probably watch highlights of him and see the same thing I think I saw. He seems to not get any push on the line, doesn't beat his man much, and players run into him as opposed to him running into players. He just wraps up what's been given to him instead of going out for the kill. If someone likes him, great. I'm simply not one of them. Give me Kancey ALL DAY LONG in that scenario. A player that no one talks much about that I really like is Drew Sanders from Arkansas. Believe it or not, I'm not begging for a linebacker for a change, but if they went that route, this is the dude. I think Hoosier may have mentioned him at one point. If so, props to you Hoosier !!

They have a lot of work to do with free agents in the coming year. Nothing like the present to get started.

Going back to 2017, OBJ has only twice caught for 1000 yards in a season. In all other seasons in that time he's caught short of 1200 yards combined. Obviously including not playing at all last season. 15 million guaranteed ?? Hilarious.
-
Yeah, but you know me. I'm one of the football dorks who loves the draft. My son is pumped to see who the Texans take with their first two picks and I usually watch with him. Sucks I'm going to miss that time, but yes, should be good for the Bengals pick. It's the anticipation I enjoy leading into the pick as well.
-
I get back from DC on the 27th, but for some reason thought it would be before the first round. Turns out, I will be lucky to be back at the house before 11pm considering the flight. STUPID WORK
-
It's not to say that OBJ can't have a really good, productive season. His signing just isn't anything that makes anyone think he changes anything in Baltimore. Surprised he didn't take what the Jets were offering with Rodgers coming to town. That would have been a more intriguing signing in my eyes.
-
My point exactly. It’s a signing that can’t really mean all the much to Ravens fans at this point. Maybe they hope Lamar will want to come back to throw to him.
-
OBJ signs one year deal with the Ravens. Who cares ??
