Cody Ford playing for a team with miserable o-line talent equals being the shiniest turd.
-
Cody Ford’s career has been extended due to the Bengals inability to find decent o-line talent. Buh bye…

Well, we've come to the end of the preseason with the last one against the Eagles. I suspect we will see more of the same with no starters taking snaps and the backup getting work in. After the Friday game come cutdowns which need to be made by 6:00pm EST on Sunday. I think we will see some guys playing for their lives in this game. Maybe not their lives, but for a spot on the roster. I think it will be interesting to see who get the axe this year, as there might be a could surprises. Equally intriguing will be to see who the other teams will be getting rid of. The swing tackle situation will be one I will be looking for, along with a couple other spots. However, not really expecting much there. We will see. Then it's two weeks and two days until the week one opener against the Bucs. Fortunately, I won a bet on the Super Bowl and my buddy had to buy tickets to this game so I will be there. Cannot wait to be back in the stadium for a real game and watch our dudes hopefully get the win. My hopes for the season are running pretty high right now, so them coming out and dropping a steaming pile on the field will be more than just a little disappointing.

I was sick as shit all weekend and neither went to or even watched the game. I did watch the highlights yesterday and it looks like everything went pretty well for the backups. I was really intrigued to hear that Zac gave up play calling for the game to Pitcher. If Meyers and Robinson don't make the team something is wrong. This WR corps is fucking crazy from top to bottom. Just a plethora of talent. Nice problem to have.

** Looks around for that warm sense of assuredness ** NOPE

I think he already said they won't be playing in the last preseason game either, so I guess it will be a while before we see them taking game snaps. As much as I enjoy watching the 2nd and 3rd stringers, I enjoy watching the starters get a series or two. What I wish they would do more is let some of the guys they feel that could compete for a starting role, get preseason snaps with the 1's. That all being said, it's whatever. Can't say as I agree with not getting the starters some snaps when they have a habit of starting slow.

There was literally nothing to dislike about the football experience in Buffalo. Great football town, massive tailgating, love the outdoor aspect to the game and it just “feels” like football when you are there. It had its own energy about it. Really cool vibe for sure. But those fans… good God. I use to feel a certain kinship to Buffalo fans being a small market team like the Bengals and the struggles our teams have faced. Not any more. Not the Bills Mafia, none of them. On the way to the game, at the stadium, walking out after the game, just miserable shitty people. Not shitty fans, PEOPLE. I wish them nothing but failure. Fuck you Buffalo, your wings suck.

I just figure the Bengals front office couldn’t care less about other player contracts. They are going to do what they want, when they want and whatever happens happens. It’s not like they haven’t signed players to big number deals. That being said, that’s a big number for a CB. Like they say though, market dictates.

I look at what Buffalo just did with their new stadium, which is getting tons of hate, and I hear people asking why they didn't build something like SoFi stadium in LA. To start SoFi cost like 5 and a half billion and the Bills new stadium was less than half that cost the last time I checked. Small market teams are always going to struggle with that. When that time comes for a new Bengals stadium, I suspect we will get something along the lines of what the Bills just did. I went to the Bills old Highmark Stadium and had a blast, minus the shitty fans, and it snowed like crazy. Good time watching a game in those conditions. Glad they didn't dome the new stadium, but thinking we should the next time around.

Ok, #2 coming at you this Saturday and suppose we will see much of the same as far as starters getting some snaps. Hopefully we see some better execution from the 1's, but as always, they tend to keep things simple in the preseason. Just like Burrow under center. Throw it in, see what you get and whatever. Clearly winning is not the priority. I'm ok with that in the preseason. Getting to see the rookies and other guys compete is the biggest reason I watch the preseason games. They had some good showings last week and I want to see if they can be consistent this week. Of course, the "no injuries" disclaimer...

Not exactly "off season" stuff since the preseason has started and not a Bengals thing, but if you haven't been paying attention to the Jayden Daniel thing regarding "his" #5 at LSU and them letting another player wear the number, you are missing out. Take a look at this and I amusingly point you in the direction of the links provided from the MLS, MLB, Minor League Baseball, the CFL, college soccer, golf, stubhub and even consumer brands. It may get old, but it's pretty hilarious to me at this point in time !! https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/jayden-daniels-has-learned-a-valuable-and-costly-p-r-lesson

They do have OBJ through the 2028 season, but if I'm not mistaken they have an out after this year without taking a massive hit to the cap. That being the case, I think it's more than reasonable to pencil in LT as a primary first round target in 2027. On a side note, it sounds like his former girlfriend that he has kids with is suing him for "civil theft" after their breakup. He disputes the claim and apparently it was for like $25k. I don't know that woman and that is the mother of his kids, but just end that nonsense and move the fuck on. It might not be the case, but things like that can weigh heavy on your head.

We had fun at the stadium. My tickets were $15 each. My Pepsi’s were $11.49 each. Seems reasonable. Have to pay for the newly painted restrooms somehow…

First preseason game is going to look just like this. No concerns with anything I’ve seen at this point. 1 series is hardly enough to be making “be all end all” determinations. Dohnte Meyers and Jack Endries are solid. Colbie Young looks really good as well. Can someone pack Josh Johnson’s shit and put it on the curb before the game is over?

Looks like the weather is going to hold off here for tonight's game. I just picked up 3 lower level corner endzone tickets by the pro shop for $15.00 each. Even if it does rain, the seats are under the overhang. Just perfect. Should be fun to check out the upgrades to the stadium and watch the team play. FOOTBALL IS BACK !!!

The power going out sucks. I mean it's Football Day for Christ sake. Someone get these people power. Arby's could clean up if they are the only show in town. Install a few TV's and BAM, Arby's sports restaurant.

You saw the flyer Hoosier? And here I thought my wrestling name of “David Chadwick” was a good cover. No wait, that’s my porn name. My wrestling name is “The Pocket Pounder”. I was suppose to get a shot at the title, but I got suspended for bringing a prop into the ring. Turns out anal beads are frowned upon. Thankfully my Astroglide sponsorship stuck with me through a really challenging time. Yes, next year Hoosier.

Could Zac call a better game? Yeah, like every week. However, they have done almost everything you can to try to reverse the slow start thing they have going on over the last handful of years. Since they can't run a tougher camp, that takes that option off the table. I really think that contributes as well.

I don't think it will be possible for me to forget Burrow saying how he gets it in his head that he goes out there at the start of the season with the mindset of "Just don't throw an interception" and when he does it just all starts to fall apart. I'm paraphrasing and could get the exact quote, but you get the point. I've posted that here before. It's on him.

YES, preseason is here and they kick things off at home this Thursday against the Lions. We already know Burrow and the starters are going to get some playing time for the Bengals, but it looks like the Lions will not be starting Goff or many of the starters unless there are competitions for the starting spot. With the history of not being prepared to do a damn thing at the start of the season, seeing Burrow and the starters get time in the preseason does not surprise me. I wish that wasn't the case, but Burrow has got to find a way to get out of his head sooner at the start of the season. As I mentioned before, I'm putting a lot of the slow start issues on him. As for our guys, I'm really interested in seeing what the younger guys do with the opportunity and the guys maybe a little deeper in some of the group rotations. There are some specific groups and players I have in mind: For the o-line, I'm interested in seeing if Brian Parker and Connor Lew get some snaps. I know Lew was coming back from injury but thought they said he was good to play. For the WR's, Colbie Young and Noah Thomas along with Dohnte Meyers should get plenty of snaps. The TE's should see Jack Endries, the rookie draft pick from Texas and he could surprise if given opportunity. On the D-line, I want to see Mafe, Howell, and Robinson. I want to see Lawrence and Allen, but would be ok not risking much there. God help the linebackers. Please someone shine. Tacario Davis at the CB should be interesting to keep an eye on as well. They are calling for rain and as much as I love the preseason, I'm not sitting in the rain at this point. We will see, because I would really like to go check out the upgrades to the stadium and catch the game. Anything outside of no injuries you guys will be wanting to see ??

McKinnley asked to be traded or released last year if I recall correctly from lack of playing time. I cannot envision that improving this year and would anticipate it getting worse.
-
I also went looking and initial roster last year looked like this: 2 QB's (I expect the same # and guys this year) 3 RB's (I expect the same # and guys this year) 6 WR's (The only change I see is switching Jermaine Burton for Colbie Young) 5 TE's (The only change I see is switching Noah Fant for Erick All Jr. if healthy) 8 OL (If they only keep 8 again, there will be some harder cuts this year) 11 DL (I think the only spot on the given depth chart that's up for grabs is between Johnson and Robinson) 5 LB's (Jesus I hope this group doesn't doom the whole fucking season. By far the weakest group) 10 DB's (The given depth chart would see both Newton and Anthony on the outs. Quite the changes) 3 Specialists (Looks like Wagner is the next LS up replacing Adomitis)
-
They should have gotten something in return for Slaton in a trade earlier when looking at the DT depth. Either that is they are admitting that Kris Jenkins and McKinnley Jackson were poor picks. Since we are where we are, I will simply enjoy the depth. That's a good problem. Murphy better find something other than Froot Loops to realize his potential. In looking at the DE group, there are still questions there. Is Josh Newton now occupying a room in the back of the basement of the doghouse? Davis isn't really surprising me in the #1 nickel spot, but dang. However, in retrospect I hated the Newton pick. The safety group looks to be in a much better place. This is the last year I'm giving Battle. No other excuses when considering the secondary talent around him. Put up Battle. Best looking O-line and depth we've seen in quite some time around here.

See money Mac hit a 65 yarder at practice? Thats fun.

Not sure why I’m not recalling that Collinsworth was 6’5. Remember his rookie year quite vividly minus that.
