Blew the thought process of the Bengals sitting back in free agency out of the water. Wonders never cease with this team and I love it !! God I love football !!!
-
Here’s the perspective I love seeing. The Bengals signed Brown for the same amount Bates got on his deal. Regardless of ANYTHING else, that is a fucking huge win for the Bengals no matter how you look at it.

Damn buzzkill

I’m in total shock. I totally expected him to reset the market with a deal from Chicago. Getting him on that deal is simply unreal. Explains why they haven’t been worrying about Perine, Hurst and company. They were busy frying the bigger fish. Kudos to the front office for pulling this off. Frees up the draft, covers Collins not being ready and protects having to over pay Jonah as a free agent next year. Simply brilliant move that hurts rivals !!
-
And the value !!! The Chiefs just paid Jawaan Taylor 80 million for 4 years and he can’t hold Brown’s jock.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/03/15/orlando-brown-jr-joins-the-bengals/ HOLY FUCK !!!
-
If anyone wants something to worry about, take a look at how many starters hit free agency next year. Just to name a few... Hendrickson Reader Boyd Higgins Awuzie Williams Sadly the list doubles that. Draft smartly Bengals !!!

That kid needs a hug or something

Whatever words can be uttered that results in them staying and getting paid will be uttered. When those words don't equate to a contract, players move. That's how I view it. Money still trumps most by all appearances.
-
God bless... No one is demanding we cut Mixon. However, restructuring him should be on the to do list. I'm not concerned about Mike Brown's wallet. I also don't care ONE BIT, about Mixon being a bottom half of the league RB on someone else's roster. I will thank him on his way out. I also never suggested he can't make an NFL roster, I'm quite certain he can.
-
EXACTLY what I have been saying this whole time for the people talking about how much money the Bengals have in cap room. That didn't come from saavy contract formulation. It came from having all these players from 2022 no longer under contract. Those players either need to be resigned or new ones found.
-
Not sure which fans are emotional about any player. Again, I don't really care and am certainly not emotional about any of them. Well, maybe Burrow... Again, you don't pay Mixon nearly 13 million. There is NOTHING smart about that. Want him to stay? Fine. I'm totally ok with that. Restructure. Want to pay him 13 million to not even be a top half of the league RB ?? Yes, stupid.
-
I cut Mixon on his salary alone if he doesn't want to restructure. I would have done it earlier, would have done it after Perine left, and will feel that way a month from now. You simply cannot pay him nearly 13 million to play in 2023 regardless of what your cap is. It's just a stupid decision.
-
Perine leaving is a bigger hit than some will admit. He was the best blocking back we had and with all the concerns with the o-line, he was very much needed. I hate to see him go. Not panicked, but not pleased either.

Yeah, I was just trying to figure out what the percentage would be by looking at the difference for every 5 yards. Total SWAG.. I like the idea and don't like it. If my team is up, I don't like it. If my team needs a score, I love it.
-
Looks like it would be a 4th and 20. Without reading, I don't know my mind took me to a play which would originate on the oppositions 20 yard line and you either got a TD or failed. However, knowing i'm full of shit most of the time, I went back and read that it would start on the kicking team's 20 yard line. So even if they made the 4th and 20, they would still have to go 60 yards for a TD or at least another 35-40 yards for a FG, that may or may not make a difference. That being said, onsides kicks were recovered in a little better than 5% of the tries last year. Making the 4th and 20 and converting an onsides kick would have about the same chance by estimation. However, moving the remainder of the way down the field to score, would seem like a big long shot.

I had already accounted for an OT within the first 3 rounds this year. Sure, maybe another. The depth across the whole o-line needs addressed. Give me the guy that can start out at RT in 2023, with the ability to move to LT in 2024. I'm a little concerned about having two new safeties roaming the backfield this coming season. Dax got some reps, but not an extended amount. Tycen Anderson was injured all year. They seem like your typical FS (Dax) and SS (Tycen) combo and can only hope for good thing. Replacing Bell and Bates will be no small task. Forecasting lumps to be taken along the way. However, not sure those lumps equate to a high round selection. Maybe later on though.
-
Now that the frenzy is pretty much over from the first day rush, I'm curious what the rest of the week holds for the Bengals. Still players out there which would impact our roster in a positive way. Not expecting the world, but curious.
-
Yeah I get leaving for more but in both of those cases, the only way they get to the playoffs is by buying a ticket.
-
Always knew Bates was gone. Thought we would be able to keep Bell to pair with Dax. Bengals need to be hot on a replacement. Not worried though.
-
Keep Bates at this point. Him and Dax would be a nice pairing.
-
I had seen most places that Pratt's value on the open market was north of 10 million per season. 3 years at 21 million is a fucking steal !!!
-
HELL YEAH !! Happy Pratt is back !!
