- Yes, Mixon can catch and averages about 20 ypg, while producing 10 TD's over 6 seasons. Nothing special there. - No doubt the o-line hasn't helped him. I've never made any claim about him going elsewhere and not having better numbers. Not sure why that was brought up. He very well may though. - I don't care what the market would be for Mixon if he's not a Bengal. I would simply move on like any other player released. - I don't want any Bengal in Baltimore, because I fucking hate Baltimore. If he would do better there (which he may) than good for them. I just don't care. He won't be carrying that team. - It's not a waste of time when you have the caliber of players the Bengals do and the cap numbers become restrictive to fielding a competitive team. - It cannot be forgotten that a big reason they have so much space is due to all the expired contracts. It's not like they have 40 million with Bates, Bell, Pratt, Perrine and others under contract. Those players need to be replaced AND still have to pay Burrow and others in the near future. Sometimes I think people overlook that aspect of how much space the team really has.

To start, I really don't care that much at this point. If they bring Mixon back (which I expect) I won't be upset. If they cut Mixon in a cap savings move, I won't be upset. I suppose it depends on how people want to define "productive" and Mixon's inconsistency makes that a bit challenging. Are we talking about 2021 production where Mixon ran for 13 TD's and added another 3 receiving ?? Or are we talking about his other 5 seasons where he averaged 5 rushing TD's and another 1 receiving ?? It's things like that which could be causing people to wonder if the team should consider taking the 7 million in cap savings and try to find an upgrade. Again, I don't care all that much, but would like to see a dynamic RB added in the draft no matter what they do with him.

I'm honestly a bit torn on Mixon and think there are many thing to consider with him. Has he lost a step? Is he worth 12 million? Why are they not playing him more? (See 35% of snap in AFCCG) The team can save 7 million in releasing him, but not sure that's the best course at this point. Boyd? It's the last year of his 4 year deal and until 2022 has never made more than 10 million in a season. That dude is just a pro and seemingly makes plays whenever they call his number. I don't want him going anywhere any sooner than necessary. He's just now 28 and I wouldn't mind seeing them extending him at least a couple more years honestly, but that has gotten costly. Last time I looked at market values, Chase is around 25 million, Higgins is around 20 million and Boyd around 15 million. OUCH !!

Report: Bengals Plan to PayJoe This Offseason
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
So much for a "reasonable" contract, allowing the team to continue building the way they have to maintain the success. "Monster contract extension" is going to have massive ripples for them in my opinion. I'm not mad about resigning Burrow in the least. Just the opposite. I'm fucking stoked to know he's going to be around a while. However, I am concerned what that means for the team's ability to sign our other free agents that have been huge for the team. They are really going to have to hit on draft picks more as I see it. I don't see the Reader and Hendrickson contracts in FA soon. That and make better decisions on which players they continue to pay top dollar. Yes, I'm looking at you Mixon. They have always been loyal to a fault and really wish they would stop paying guys 10 million a year when not worth it. I would bet resetting the QB market for Burrow will equal no more Higgins. That makes me very sad. -
Nice to hear someone talk up the Center from Minnesota, John Michael-Schmitz. If you have never seen the kid play, do yourself the favor. Not thinking we will be looking for an interior O-lineman that early, but if we were, he'd be it.

Dude, I feel you. My son and I left the game and the Chiefs fans were all being so cool. Seriously never seen anything like it. Just super gracious in their win saying things like, "You guys are really good and sure we will see you next year". Didn't hear a single, "Fuck you" or "Fuck the Bengals". Honestly, it was hard to return their graciousness, but I didn't want to be that guy so I just said thanks and take it easy. However, when I got the car, I fucking lost it. I was so pissed. I was going off and to make matters worse, ArmyBengal Jr. just laughed at my anger. I calmed down after that and I'm over it for the most part. I feel bad for the team to have to start all over again.

If Jones were to go before we get on the clock, I would be fine with that. I really can't see how slow he is translating very well to the pro game. Being a Buckeyes fan, that's hard to say, but I would pass.

I forgot all about the Senior Bowl, although I don't pay a particularly large amount of attention outside of write ups. Of those mentioned, there are a few that I am more familiar with than others. I think this class of TE's are pretty good, but to get the ones I really want, they would have to go there early and I don't expect that to happen. The WR's of Zay Flowers and AT Perry I have seen play this season and was impressed by both. However, I don't expect them to be there when we would, or if we do, consider WR. I like Dorian Thompson-Robinson as a later round QB prospect. I want an upgrade to Brandon Allen that can be brought along. I like that if he had to get into the game and hold things together for a week or two, his legs provide another valuable tool in that situation and forces the defense to adjust to something they didn't plan for from Burrow. Stills is an interesting late round guy. Him and his brother played together at West Virginia. His brother washed out of the NFL and Dante may do the same, but he's interesting.

I've never been a fan of Tom Brady, but will give credit where credit is due. It's not like he's walking away because he can't do it anymore. He had nearly 4700 passing yards, a 67% completion rate, 25 TD's and 9 INT's. Not to shabby. That all being said... Buh bye Tom. Him and JJ Watt are eligible for Hall of Fame the same year then huh ?? Poor JJ will get like 3 minutes for his speech, while Tom will be up there for 2 hours.

As always, what appears true in the draft in February may look very different come April. Players rise and fall through that period of time and who appears to be top 15 may fall out of the first completely. That being said, I'm all in on an OT with the first pick. CB or DE wouldn't upset me in the least, but considering the importance of the o-line, OT is going to be my preference. Speaking of mocks, I did one yesterday where Skoronski from Northwestern fell to us. That would be a no brainer in my opinion at this point. Despite being LT in college, he would easily be my starting RT in 2023. He could also be a consideration to move to LT in 2024 should Jonah not be brought back. Then of course, there might not be an OT available at 28 worth taking and we are back to BPA. There are free agent OT's out there I would not complain about, but I do not expect the Bengals to be players in that market.

Sean Payton goes to Denver for a 2023 1st round and a 2024 2nd round pick. Nice haul for the Saints who were getting nothing out of Payton.

Disregard Mem… Guess I need to cancel that worldwide cruise I just booked… DAMNIT !!

I knew I knew that name. Champ Kind is from Ron Burgandy. https://youtu.be/j6UHOT8HfEA

Probably not. I was thinking the same. ”Who the fuck is this guy ??” It’s fun though. It would be a huge black eye for the NFL that just started to allow betting, among other concerns. I would enjoy watching that particular train wreck.

All things considered, I fully expect a complete investigation to be completed tomorrow, totally exonerating the head referee of any and all wrong doing. I mean the sheer number of lawsuits would be staggering. As a matter of fact, I think I need a lawyer. I need reimbursed for travel, lodging, tickets and food. Not to mention the massive amounts of mental anguish both ArmyBengal Jr. and I are currently dealing with. We have both been completely incapacitated and are incapable of going to school and work respectively. Who knows how long this could linger ?? Mem, know anyone wanting to take my case ??

No knowledge huh ??

NFL has a recovery time of about 9-12 months depending on severity of injury and position of the player. Seeing as how Collins is a lineman and weighs a boatload, I’m guessing close to 12 than the 9. Since he was injured on December 24th, that’s why I was thinking he would be out the majority of 2023. Of course I’m no doctor and maybe he heals sooner. I would just rather not put all my eggs in the basket of that happening.
-
The Bengals have an out on Collins contract as well, so seeing as how he's likely to miss damn near if not the whole 2023 season, his release would not be a surprise. That's not to say it will happen, but his contract was built to allow for that possibility.
-
Just one as far as I have seen.
-
I'd rather a RT, as opposed to a LT. Jonah may not be the best LT in the league, but forcing the issue with a lesser talent that may not see the field isn't my desire. RT on the other hand could earn the starting spot from day 1 with Collins possibly not seeing the field in 2023 or at least until the last few weeks of the season. The other thing I like about taking a RT is one could be had on day 2.

Well Bates would still need to sign the tag in order for the team to trade him, but if he wants a bigger contract (he does), I don't think that would be an impediment. He has already stated that while he wants to stay with the Bengals, he can't leave 10 million on the table. I would make a bet another team would be willing to give more than a 3 round comp and have him sit at a table of his liking. Don't get me wrong, I love Bates and think he deserves to be paid. However, I don't think that position is where we need to spend 18+ million per year. Thanks for everything Jessie and nothing but the best !!!
