Need to have fire sale. You have two home games and lose both. Not only that you lose to a prior winless team( Jets) look good against your terrible defense. Also fire the head coach.  We have given the coach with enough rope and he has choked.  Even changing defensive coach didn’t change anything( team just went younger with the usual defensive holdovers ( that other teams have passed over. Season’s over.  I guess I’ll have to wait for next year. I think Ohio State could trounce our guys.

At a minimum they should try to trade Hendrickson.  If he can demonstrate that his injury is minor, he has real value.

If we don’t trade him, then again try to leverage him into an affordable long term deal with the threat of tagging him - that would be institutional suicide.  Both from a cultural perspective in regards to the players, but I honestly can see him shrugging his shoulders, signing the tag, then sustaining a mysterious hamstring pull or something and just sitting out the season.

I’m the furthest thing from a Hendrickson supporter.  I think his selfish ways and lack of leadership are partly responsible for the mess our defense is in.  But we’ve reached the point where enough is enough with this guy.

The rumor mills says the Bengals want a first and a player for Hendrickson. If anyone is willing to give that up, go for it, I guess. But the hip doesn't seem like a minor injury given that he tried to play through it last week and couldn't, so I'm not sure he could even pass the necessary physical at this point. Tough for me to see anything happening here.

If someone wants to give them some late-round trash picks for Wilson and/or McKinnley, sure, fine, whatever. They'll just get wasted on guys who never get off the PS tho.

They are not going to have a fire sale. They would be stupid to get rid of Hendrickson who when healthy is as best as they got. That would be like getting rid of Whitworth all over again.

There are a few pieces to work with Hendrickson is one of them, and a couple young CB that are good to work with. They need LBs and another big time pass rusher.

Truthfully it’s all things  that could be fixed if they have competent people in that building to fix it, but they don’t. They need Marvin Lewis and Zimmer back to help them pick defense players. Oh and they need a true veteran DC, not some college one year wonder guy!

Yep.  But does Zac have any more old friends he can bring in?

The Hendrickson situation will be an even bigger shitshow. They wont trade him. Even if they did, Tobin and the scouting department would waste that pick anyways. I have zero confidence in them. They also won't resign him long term. They were concerned about his age and possible decline before, and didn't want to guarantee any more than 1 year of the deal. They sure as hell won't now that he has sustained an injury.

I can see the Bengals not using the Tag on him, and instead try to lowball him citing age and injury.

It's going to get ugly again.

They won't trade Hendrickson, despite the fact they should.  Get something, anything.
The only reason they shouldn't is if they plan to tag him and that shit will get all sorts of stupid.
They won't sign him to a long term deal or they would have done that this year.

Thing is, if they do trade him, they won't do anything substantial with the pick(s) they get.
That would require having faith in the scouting department having the ability to evaluate players.
I don't have that faith in them either.

The Bengals are stupid and deserve the criticism they get.

If they don’t tag him, the contract negotiations between the bengals (I wonder, and agents wonder, who even does these negotiations) and Trey’s guy will last about five minutes.  Just long enough for a “thanks, but no thanks” from Trey’s side.

Everyone keeps saying the Cowboys, there record is just as bad as the Bengals in a tough NFC, why would they even waste a pick. There defense is terrible also. I don’t I want to see Trey come back after the bye and hopefully healthy, with Cedrick Johnson on the other side.

I also want Logan Wilson and Burks playing LB and sprinkle in the rookies on certain plays

Also try different safeties out those guys can’t tackle at all, what the worst that can happen if they suck even word then bench them.

Keeping Trey next year cost them $33m? Cash/Cap.   They realistically need a bunch of body on that side of the ball AND massive improvement from the young players they decide to build around.

Sure getting rid of your best player on the worse unit is a risk but they can't realistically draft a new defense next year.    If you get anything more than what you could expect in a comp pick then trade him.   $33 mil in cap is multiple players

I really hate the Bengals.  Have I said that recently?
I mean I really fucking hate them.

Logan Wilson...  thanks for your time here and wish you nothing but the best.
At least Texas doesn't have a state tax.  You get to play in a dome and while the owner might be crazy, at least he wants to win.
Good luck Logan.

Fuck you Mike Brown and fuck you Bengals.

I think Wilson is washed.  Golden was the OG Wilson pimp.  If he's benching him AND the defense has been shit for 3 straight seasons with him in a major role at LB.  Well?

Pratt/Wilson made a ton of good plays but are probably at the end of their useful NFL lives, I guess.    Did Lou bite on either Pratt or Wilson to acquire?

Maybe AMPHAR.  Maybe the injury from last year has taken it's toll.  Certainly is worth considering.
He has averaged 14 games a season and then last year was at 11.
He averaged nearly 98 tackles per year and last year was at 104 despite injuries.
His TFL, QB hits and pressures were all up to average over his career including last year as well.
He was made team captain and all of a sudden he's not good?  Maybe there's more to him being done, but I don't like it.

Like I said, wish him well.

Sure Wilson was not the same, but what kind of veteran presence now is there for these two struggling LB? Hell they look lost half the time, can’t get lined up right it’s stupid. I would have kept Logan on with Burks and let the rookies come in and play some so they get used to the game at a higher level. I get that Wilson sucked, but they benched him and somehow the defense gets worse, I mean they were bad, but now the at an all time bad. I don’t get it!

I agree. Defense needs massive changes and even one draft + one FA period won't get them there. This is a two-year rebuild minimum so they will need every dollar and draft pick they can scrounge up.

Who fucking cares?  This is the worse case scenario for everyone at Paycor.   Fans think Golden wanted to bench Wilson?   No.  He wanted/needed him to be awesome again.  Same with a bunch of other players/coaches.

Its a bunch of wasted draft picks and wasted finger pointing.   About 85-100% overhaul of anything related to defense needs to be gone, period.

Blaming Lou? False.   Worse case scenario and so now you can't have golden cows or whatever you want to call it.

Now the only question is how deep ownership will cut.   Probably won't be deep enough.

They've blown 3 4th quarter leads in a row.  2 resulting in unthinkable losses.   That's on top of all the other shit defense played under Lou the previous years.
