ArmyBengal Posted October 17, 2025 Report Posted October 17, 2025 Oddly enough and this hasn't happened to me in a long time. When the Steelers scored the go ahead TD, I wasn't upset. I looked at the clock and was relaxed. Flacco had been moving the ball all night long with quick passes and thought he had enough time. Sure enough... McPherson has to be given some credit after a down 2024 season. Through these first 7 games, he is 10 of 12 for FG's made, with the two misses from long range. He's also made all 14 extra point kicks so far as well. Damn near broke the longest FG record. Nice to see him having another solid season and making big kicks. Quote

I mean try him on kick offs or punts, hell Yoshi is struggling right now. I've given up hope on Burton. Easier to just forget he is a part of this team. Dude isn't going to be given a shot when he keeps missing practices or is late to them. His immaturity might be terminal. The talent is there, but there's nothing between the ears. Sad watching someone piss away that type of ability. Irritating as well from a fan standpoint. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted October 17, 2025 Report Posted October 17, 2025 Oh, and hats off to punter Ryan Rehkow, whose 52.3 average punting is 2nd best in the league. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted October 17, 2025 Report Posted October 17, 2025 And another thing... The Bengals are 2-0 in the division and 3-1 against the AFC. Despite all the bad and me expecting them to lose, that's still a good place to be. 1 Quote
COB Posted October 17, 2025 Report Posted October 17, 2025 Just checked out the schedule to see what good games there might be to watch Sunday. Not much there, but I noticed there is a Monday night game in Seattle that is starting at 10 pm eastern. I don’t recall them doing that before, seems like the nfl is really trying to capture that west coast prime time window. Quote

Even running. That designed run play for him was one of the greatest things ever. NO ONE saw that coming. You could feel the energy of the stadium through the TV with the reaction to that play. Funny thing is, that run, which was awesome, was actually a completely busted play. Quote "So there was a handful of plays today that I was like, 'What is he saying?' There were formations that ended in F and I was not getting it," Flacco said regarding his confusion with the offense. "That one (play), I read off my wristband, it was correct. Ja'Marr (Chase) lined up on the ball, Noah (Fant) lined up off, he (Ja'Marr) was supposed to be off the ball. He was supposed to counter motion and bluff that end. And when he was on the ball and the play clock was running down, I was like, 'Ah, screw it.' "I was just gonna hand it off (to Chase Brown), but he (the defender) came off the edge so damn quick, I was like, 'all right, I haven't done this since my, probably, first or second year, but I'll do it now.'" "It felt good, it felt good, I can't lie," Flacco said. Dude is just out there having fun. Gotta love it. Quote
HoosierCat Posted October 17, 2025 Author Report Posted October 17, 2025 This is some funny stuff right here. Quote
gregcook69 Posted October 17, 2025 Report Posted October 17, 2025 Just listened to the Bengals Booth Podcast. According to Lap, Pittsburgh got Jalen Ramsey and Jarius Slay specifically because of Chase and Higgins! It was so sweet to see Ramsey get his hind end handed to him only because, despite his talent, I can’t stand his attitude and mouth! Quote

ArmyBengal Posted October 17, 2025 Report Posted October 17, 2025 While I have expected them to lose, last night's offensive performance was intriguing. What I saw from Flacco was pure veteran understanding of the game. He's never played with the level of skill position players like Chase and Tee before. I admit I was shocked watching him execute plays. Dude's been here for 10 fucking days and is killing it. Out next 5 games include: Jets- 0-6 Bears- 3-2 (Bye Week) @Steelers- 4-2 Patriots- 4-2 If we get a performance close to last night, with some improved defense, this could get interesting. They proved to themselves they can beat the Steelers, so let play they walk away from that stretch at 3-1. I'll say the loss is to the Patriots. That would have them 3-0 in the division and 5-2 against the AFC. They would be 6-5 at that point and probably not far from the last playoff seed. Their last 5 games aren't as daunting as I thought they were to start the season either. Again, this assuming they can keep last night's pace and see defensive improvement. Stranger things have happened. Can't say I'm calling anything, but still.... it's interesting. Quote

HoosierCat Posted October 17, 2025 Author Report Posted October 17, 2025 Well, the rules say every division has to have a winner, even when the whole division is crap like the AFCN this year. The Bengals have as good a shot at it as any of the other three teams. That said, imo whoever gets in is most likely one-and-done. Quote

However to make the playoffs with a hapless defense and an injury prone QB is somewhat of an accomplishment. It will be interesting to see if any of the other teams playing with backup QBs make the playoffs. Quote

I find it ironic that the Bengals gave up 31 points and it’s a crap defense, and yet Pittsburgh gave up 33 points and it was the Bengals offense coming alive!?!? Im sure it was probably the opposite fan scenario over in the Pittsburgh forums, saying a great Steelers offense and a hapless defense. Quote
HoosierCat Posted October 18, 2025 Author Report Posted October 18, 2025 Bottom line is that the division is wide open. The team that can suck just a little bit less will take it. At a guess it will be Baltimore because Lamar will be back soon and I think he’s the best QB active in the division. But…Rogers can still play and Flacco can still play and all the defenses have big holes so who knows. Cleveland is the only team that seems hopeless but the way things have gone I’m not prepared to rule anything out yet. For us, I still think the most likely outcome is that they win just enough games to miss the postseason while completely screwing their draft position next April, because Bengals gonna Bengal. But we will see. Quote
gregcook69 Posted October 18, 2025 Report Posted October 18, 2025 STRIPES! This was a post you made which I thought was brilliant: “That's just the thing. It is what it is and this is how the forums lean, and I ‘GET IT’! BOTTOM LINE: It’s NEVER this scenario; When the ‘home team’s offense rolls, it’s ALWAYS how ‘GREAT’ the offense was and NEVER, what a crap job by the opposition’s defense! When the offense gets stymied, it’s a CRAP offense and never a hats off to the opposition’s defense. The same scenario when the opposition scores many points, it’s ALWAYS a crap defense and I will take responsibility and claim I am guilty of this myself! Quote

But we will see. Ravens are three games behind Pittsburgh. They're not even ahead of you. They also have a three game road trip and go to GB and Pit weeks 17-18. If Bengals can avoid another sweep they'll keep them out of the division. Asking to the sweep the Steelers without Burrow is a tall task. Pittsburgh is looking at 11-12 wins pending that game. Maybe 10-11 if they lose to two of Colts, Chargers, Bills. I think the NE game is crucial as they are going to be one of the competitions for the wild card. You already have a h2h over Jacksonville. Buffalo, KC, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Denver I say are in and then Bengals, Jaguars, Pats, Chargers, and Ravens are fighting for two spots. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted October 18, 2025 Report Posted October 18, 2025 The Ravens are going to win the division. Lamar will be back and that will be enough. If Burrow hadn’t gotten hurt, the division would be ours with little thought at this point. 1 Quote
