AMPHAR
Andre Smith rumored for the return. What's his role? Starter? Like the move.

Is there really any questions about it? They're bringing him in to start. At guard so they can play Ogbuehi at tackle! Zing!
HoosierCat
(My thread title so don't blame amphar) Various reports including Dre Kirk say it's done. welcome back you big fat bastige.

ArmyBengal
Came on the cheap. RT ?? RG ?? LT ?? Guess we will see when they line up. My guess ?? Fisher at RT with Moobs at RG.
HoosierCat
Early word is it's a one year $4.5 million deal. Be interesting to see how that breaks down.

Considering the talent we lost vs what we spent to sign this dude, I feel drug and alcohol abuse is running rampant in the front office.
kingwilly
This is a big, jiggly, flopping band-aid. That's it. He will be on IR by week 7. So, adjust your expectations accordingly.
COB
Welcome back to a pretty good dude. If he stays healthy it will be a great signing.
GapControl
Their groups better with Moobs on it. They still need another lineman who can challenge for a starting spot at LT.

I think "pretty good dude" is a term used loosely around here.
ArmyBengal
While I don't have as much issue with the signing as others, should have seen this move coming a mile away.
Stripes
Well he's clearly their best lineman then. Maybe Dalton will be sacked 70 times now instead of 80, and the running game will find a way to 3.3 ypc.

He has the skills to be top-tier guard and it puts him in position to help Fisher or Bodine on any given play. Big ??? is, can he stay healthy?
ArmyBengal
I don't read anything on the official site anymore, because, well.... Why ?? That being said, Moobs on the inside makes a lot of sense to me as well. Health is certainly the biggest consideration. Agreed. Again, I really don't mind the signing and at 4.5 million, that's cheap and gives another year to draft and develop. Well, we are talking about Alexander, so maybe not the develop part...
membengal
I've got no problems with this, he was a valuable part of some good lines, and they missed him badly last year.
ArmyBengal
Yep, he just got a bad rep because of those tits. Alvin Keels didn't help much in negotiating his rookie contract and neither did the early injuries when considering the fanbase. That being said, he was the player I wanted in that draft and he still has the potential to help this team. How much is yet to be determined, but a single year deal at least keeps him motivated. AMPHAR
Good signing. One I wanted even before the season ended. My thought would be filing RT allowing Fisher to be RG. Anyhoo the key for this guy as always will be effort/focus/ and durability. IF (and that's a big IF) you get those then he fits right there with some of the right side players available in this FA class like Riley Rief, Wagner, and Warford. He's more consistent than a Fluker and Warmack for sure. Gives them flexibility as well. He could certainly take on RT and allowing them to bump players if there's complete incompetence like they got last year by Ooogie. Still 1 slot down on the o-line so it doesn't preclude you from drafting a o-line prospect high either.
ArmyBengal
I hate the o-line prospects for a LT in the draft. HATE...

Watch him stay healthy have a great year at right guard then leaves for a team next year willing to pay guards
volcom69
It's so bad when they let players walk away because they don't want to pay them, but in the end they bring the back anyways. Look at Gilberry last season!
ArmyBengal
Pat Sims, Gilberry, MJ, and now Moobs. There may be more I'm missing. Those are the ones the come to mind quickly.
HoosierCat
There was also Darryl Williams, tho that goes back a few years. Also, old man Crocker.

HoosierCat
As suspected, the $4.5 million figure is a maximum value. Moobs got a $1.55 million signing bonus and a $1.25 million salary. Beyond that $2.8 million everything comes from bonuses and incentives.
