princeton Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 I'd be thrilled with Brown or Taylor but I think that Bengals brass will be debating Cyprien vs. Hunter.
BengalByTheBay Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 Put me down as hoping for Jonathan Franklin w/ that second-second. I think he's a perfect fit for what the Bengals should be trying to do with the quasi-WC offense. With the first-second I think they have to go S. Not being much of a draftnik, I defer to others who actually have put in some time studying these guys. Other than the small school issue, is there a major knock on Cyprien? Has he had injury issues, etc.?
HoosierCat Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 Some of it is the small school thing (of course, the Bengals got a pretty good player out of tiny Augustana College once upon a time...). There are some who think he doesn't have the speed/range to play deep and is more of a traditional strong safety type. But that's debatable.
TJJackson Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 I heard there was a guy from Mississippi Valley State who ended up being a pretty good player too
BengalByTheBay Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 Well their last couple forays into small school weren't unqualified successes - Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State come to mind. It's a consideration - nothing more.
Kazkal Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 If Cyprien is available and they pass him make me really wonder what their plans for SS is this year..Resign Chris Crocker?....Did Taylor Mays finally put everything together?(which I'd be okay with)
Wraith Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 If Brown is there I could see them passing on Cyprien.

Mays did quite the opposite of putting everything together. In my opinion, of course.
COB Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 I know Hobs has to write a lot. But, as he ruminated on the depth at various positions still available in round 2, he wrote the following sentence: "For the first time since John F. Kennedy's ground game ruled the White House, every back is still available after round one and the Bengals are picking fifth Friday as the Carson Palmer trade keeps giving even though he's been traded again."Hobs your freshman composition teacher called, she wants that B- back.
Kazkal Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 Interesting stat, the Bengals targeted a RB out of the backfield the third fewest times in the league last year.If the thought with Eifert was to do the things that successful teams do (see 2 TE sets) than picking up a pass catching RB with speed would help. They need to get this done in the 2nd.I felt we had a very good pass catching RB in Leonard just was underutilized IMO.

Him on the field screams pass every time. I think that using very good to describe him is a reach as well.

HoosierCat Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 From Reedy:Lewis: "I think this will be the running back day today."
princeton Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 From Reedy:Lewis: "I think this will be the running back day today."does Marvin have Lapham's approval on that?
Kazkal Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 Skumbag Jaguars....Jaguars not expected to go QB at No. 33With the 33rd pick in the 2013 NFL draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars do not plan to pick a quarterback. In a piece of good news for Blaine Gabbert and bad news for Jacksonville fans who want a change, PFT’s Mike Florio is hearing that the Jaguars do not plan to draft a quarterback with the first pick in tonight’s second round. The buzz is that the Jaguars want to bolster the secondary by selecting either Florida International safety Jonathan Cyprien or Mississippi State cornerback Johnthan Banks.
Chad Johnson Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 scumbag jags is right!!and no If we go RB in round 2 I'd prefer an all around RB like Lacy.Id love to package some of those late round picks and see us move that second 2nd round pick up higher.

That doesn't describe Lacy. What do you think of Kenjon Barner (Oregon) at some point? This es an essential piece of the WCO and we haven't had it in foreverI want a safety here. RBs can notoriously be found late

membengal Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 Plans for evening fell through (happily), so I get to watch the evening unfold. Win!
TJJackson Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 I really hope it is not an OLThe athletic freak from Arkansas Pine Bluff would actually not be a bad pick here....given my bias for linemen ;-)/>http://www.nfl.com/draft/2013/profiles/terron-armstead?id=2540228
