I know what you mean. Mike’s like, “honor your word,” especially if a player has been a good soldier, ie has not complained about the facility, amenities, management, etc.

Mixon’s camp has to: A. Believe that being unconditionally released is a very real possibility if he doesn’t agree to redo his deal. B. Have his agent do some homework to determine his value on the open market. Only if the above two conditions are met will Mixon consider taking less $. I can’t tell if the Bengals are putting on a push for this or not.

The safety we wanted from Philly, Gardner-Johnson, signed with Detroit, 1 year, 8 million. The Lions trying to challenge our status as the regional capital of the prove-it deal.
-
Good thinking. You should be an agent. Or a lawyer. side note: it looks like Dan Snyder’s reign of belligerent incompetence is coming to an end. Pretty clear the Washington team will have a new owner very soon.
-
The owners absolutely collude. In this case I do think there is some collusion but not an all-in agreement. More like an unspoken thing, they all understand that 100% guarantees are bad for them. The union should negotiate the following - do away with the rule that requires ownership to put into escrow the full amount that is guaranteed under these giant contracts. (Signed, Mike Brown).
-
Titans supposedly very intetested.
-
Kaepernick was the most egregious example of collusion. By demanding a fully guaranteed deal Lamar has handed the owners just enough for them to have plausible deniability. The owners couldn’t even deny it with Kaepernick. They quietly paid him off. If I were Lamar’s agent I’d target several teams, wait until there is a week left in his offer window, then notify them I’ve moved off fully guaranteed deal, let the offers roll in. I’d also let the Ravens know you’d better not match it, I have no interest or intent to play in Baltimore ever again. He’ll end up with the second most guaranteed money ever (behind Watson), and with enough money that he won’t even know what to do with it all. To sun it all up, more than anything, Lamar just needs an agent.

True, but where else is that turd gonna go?
-
The cupboard’s pretty bare on guys who can clean these gutters, which are in dire need. Never mind, I just got a text from Jonah Williams.
-
Also, that 12 million salary is viewed as a great deal by potential trade partners. That CBA and it’s price controlled first contracts is a huge factor in roster management these days, can’t overstate it.
-
Holy shit, Ian Rapaport, a very reliable source, says in regards to Jonah trade: “There’s definitely some interest and I could see a deal happening very soon.” I DEMAND a second round pick and a player. Tackles are very hard to come by these days, even marginally competent guys (55th in ESPN’s pass block win rate last season, I think that qualifies as marginally competent.)

Fournette - carried the load for 3 seasons at LSU, then got worked for 6 seasons via the Jags and Bucs. So 9 straight seasons as the man. Has struggled some with injuries. He’s 28, and the dude’s got some serious miles on him. He sure doesn’t seem to fit the prototype the Bengals have been favoring lately. I would pass but maybe the team likes him, we’ll see. Looks to me like a guy looking for one last contract.
-
Let’s hear your predictions on Jonah. Mine - he stays here, wins the RT job and plays well, gets a good contract after next season from the Panthers.
-
That’d work. Then if he revives his career at least he’s in the NFC. Pollack has a better opinion than we do regarding Jonah’s ability to switch to the right side. If he’s pessimistic, trade him! What would his value be?
-
Reds suck. The tribe rules (until Francona retires, then we’ll suck too).
-
Rapaport on twitter: “Williams becomes the top tackle available if Cincy is willing to move on.” He thinks there is a market for this dude? Let the offers start rolling in! We’ve got a guy here who will walk into your building and lock down your RT spot for 7 or 8 years. Bring it!
-
First offer just came in, the Anderson Township High School nerf wars team is down a man, and they’ve offered the broken Gatorade refrigerator that’s been sitting in the baseball equipment shed for 3 years, and some steel shelving they pulled out when they remodeled the library.
-
You want a trade, Jonah Williams? Do you have the name of an NFL team that wants to give any value for one of the worst starting left tackles in the league last year, who is coming off knee surgery, who is prohibitively expensive, who will only be contractually bound for one year? What a bargain. Hey NFL team GMs, come quick. We’re willing to trade Jonah Williams, please ignore the fact that his poor play cost us both a Super Bowl and an AFC championship game, and also please ignore the fact that our top priority this offseason was upgrading from him.
-
Value only, that’s about what we expected. When they let guys walk for the affordable deals offered elsewhere, the only conclusion is we’re going to sign a lesser, cheaper, option. It’s going to put pressure on the coaches, hopefully they can coach these new guys up and scheme to dampen the effects of any deficiencies they might have. They had to get better on the o-line and they did.
-
If it isn’t signed yet, yes I assume we’re getting played.
-
That’s the funny thing about these depth signings - if you make a deep playoff run these guys end up playing in those games. 20 or so NFL games tend to put some of your starters on the injured list.
-
Hopefully they’re talking to Devin Singletary from the Bills. I think he’s still available.
-
Yea it is really difficult to predict tackle success. Brown is like a mid level success, and he was a 4th rounder. Meanwhile if you could get his level of success out of a first rounder you’d take it any day. One thing of note - I saw a stat that said Brown had like the 18th grade last year in the league on pass blocking. And the salary the bengals gave him ranks him like about 18th, right in there. Which is a huge win.
-
Guard Cody Ford at the facility. Still looking to sign OL.
-
The chiefs gave up a 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th for Orlando Brown? And now he walks and they get nothing? That is astounding. That GM has some explaining to do.
