Fake Game #3: Rams @ Bengals

Let's see:

Offensive +'s:

Irwin, Taylor and Thomas, Travyeon Williams, Browning, Pryor, Lassiter....gonna be some tough cuts.

DEF +'s:

DB's might be deeper than expected, even without Britt.   Tycen Anderson, Henderson, George, Hood all look like keepers and/or tough cuts  (PS squad or otherwise).

Carter does something every week against 2nd/3rd level guys at DT.   Johnston doing well at LB/ST's.

I like the way Browning looks, has more ceiling and athletic ability than Allen.   Allen isn't going to win games.   Browning had a great night (17 for 24, 173 yds, TD, 110 QBR) .

D'ante Smith is bad.  RG they picked-up is encouraging.   Carman is what he is still,  inconsistent.  Over-all they (OL depth) weren't bad tonight, for whatever that's worth.

On to the real deal finally.  Make preseason a reality tv show or something, I've seen enough.

On the what we learned from Saturday's week 3  preaseason games on NFL.com we get this tagline

1. The Bengals can't score in the red zone

I swear the dicks who write this shit have no eyes, it was the fucking 2's on 2's and players who will most likely not be on the roster numbnutz.

from what I saw

Volson > Carman to start

This type of a game (against backups) makes it hard to determine much.

I personally think Carter looked to have a quick first step and was disrupting plays in each preseason game. I liked what I saw from some of the secondary depth, with the exception of Hood. Don’t know what he did last night, but he’s been ass.

I’m not a fan of the QB depth and Browning is garbage at best despite what he may or may not have done last night.

Chris Evans NEEDS MORE REPS. The kid can just play. Some of those WR’s looked decent but not sure that would continue against most team’s #1’s.

This is why week 1 can’t get here soon enough. I want to put all the nonsense talk to bed and watch our boys play.

well, uhm, uhh *shuffles feet alogn with uncomfortable silence*   I didnt watch any of the games, actually

How are you supposed to be prepared for the regular season if you weren't there to watch Real NFL Player "Raymond Johnson III" record a tackle against the Rams' fourth string?

I didn't watch the Rams game because there was simply next to no interest in it for me.
That was a game for the coaches and back of the roster guys at best and I hate that.
Mostly because some clown will watch that game and come up with reasons why we can't beat the Steelers week 1.

I'm a guy who actually likes the preseason as well.  It was fun watching some of the young guys take snaps.
Just ready for the starters and week 1 to get here.

However, it does appear this draft class looks at least solid at this point.

Remove Williams at RB, add Pryor at WR.  Remove Carman at G and add Spain at G.   Remove Thomas at S and add Anderson at S and you have my guess.

Somehow I forgot Anderson, so yes I agree there. The other two I would personally favor, though they'd surprise me (especially Spain for Carman). I could see them going with two TEs for a short period if Wilcox is injured to create room for a 7th WR like Pryor or another corner (Davis or George).

I know, I know :-)

There are two players I am quite intrigued with.  One I expected to come up, the other is a huge surprise to me.  More in another post
