His latest press conference has started speculation from talking heads.

Many say he may pull a Luck or go somewhere else!

No. Normal frustrations from rehab, tough losses and defensive issues.

I don't think he would've encouraged Chase & Higgins to stay if any drastic changes were possible in the future.

As I get older , I'm starting to realize luck plays a massive role in the destiny of players or teams in certain eras ...

What if Phil Jackson never coaches Jordan?

What if Mahomes went to the jets?

What if the bills hang on during 13 seconds?

The question of what if is maddening but fascinating

With playoffs on the line Joe Burrow threw 2 Ints leading by 3 with 5 minutes to go in field goal range.   Ints resulted in 14 points.

I don't know if Joe Burrow is done.      This has been a week in which the following has been confirmed

1. Trey put off surgery for the team

2. Higgins coming out of concussion protocol, back in after Buffalo game

Its a bad look on Joe's leadership to have his reflective wishy washy press conference to be spun in such a way.   You have to think this was by design on his part given the results of the Buffalo game.

My opinion: IF you can't be happy playing football with the money spent on you and your offense, softball Cincinnati media then move the fuck on already.   Any other real sports media would be frying his ass over those Ints and would have pointed out how bad he looks compared to Tee and Trey right now.

He's a great QB, not durable.  Its amazing how much he is glazed by local media.

1.  The media always LOVES to ‘sensationalize’!

2.  The first interception was definitely on him, the second one was a tipped pass that happens to QBs around the league.  He did come right back and drove the team down the field to a TD putting the team within one score to go ahead with time left to do so.

3.  That presser wasn’t post game!  You would expect frustration after the game, not several days later.

4.  My opinion of the presser was an indirect ultimatum to the franchise!  ‘Fix things or else!’

As always, time will tell!

Joe is a great QB.    Its a bad look whether he intended it to be or not.   Higgins and Trey both showed they put their health before the team and Joe being reflective on having fun and it just so happens after they lose a must win game and he threw 2 picks leading in the 4th quarter.

Whatever Joe.    Move the fuck on already if that's how you feel.   The majority will take your side and deflect blame.  I don't think he's a quitter like that and I don't he is  justified IF he does try to force his way out.

I thought both Ints were great plays by Buffalo by the way.  But everything has been set up for you to win those games and you didn't THIS TIME, so SFTU and move on.   He wasn't reflective when people gave him all the credit in beating Baltimore.

I don’t see it at all that way!

I think he was diplomatically telling the franchise to fix it!

When you lead the league in passing, with a statistical MVP season, also having the season sack leader, and a receiver who wins the triple crown, and don’t even make the playoffs, because of a hapless anemic defense, then, the next year, you sit on the sidelines and watch a guy come in, and for 3 games in a row score 30+ points and go 1-2, and almost 0-3, BECAUSE of the SAME hapless defense, I think you have a right to complain!

He’s a WINNER, for crying out loud, and he’s playing at a ‘winning’ level, but NOT winning!

IF he had thrown management and the defense pointedly and openly ‘under the bus’ it would have been a disaster for the locker room!

As far as defenses go, it’s one thing to go out and play your tail off, pressuring the QB, making tackles, covering receivers like you’re supposed to, and just get BEAT because the other team played tremendous offensive football is one thing.

That isn’t/wasn’t the case here!

Sorry.  I don't know the intent of Joe's comments.   I do take issue with fans/local media supporting a narrative that Joe is justified in whining.

1. This week we learned Trey and Tee both put health issues aside for the team.

2. The organization is top half in spending most of it on extensions for offensive talent that everyone demanded.

3. The offense added a 1st round TE and 2nd round guard late summer.  Again Right Guard people demanded be fixed!

4. The offense got a first round OT over the draft's best CB.   That is a move people demanded.

The unit is built with the intention to be the unit that shoulders the burden of winning.   They rank 20th.  They give the ball away 3rd worse in the league.    Until those 2 issues are resolved all they are doing is finger pointing away from their under performance.   That's all it is.    Again, I don't know the intent of Joe's comments but its a horrible look.  He gets a free pass from a lot of people, IMO with protection issues/injuries/durability and turnovers.    If he's crying, none of it is justified.

I don’t see it that way at all and before my last post you spoke like you knew that he was whining and indicated so.

Now you’re back pedaling and admit that you don’t know.

We AREN’T management and/or coaches.  We’re just couch coaches, at best, with opinions, and that’s what these forums are for, to allow us to vent and express how much better we think we could do things!

I think Joe knows how much pull he has with this franchise and demonstrated as much with Chase and Tee without throwing the franchise under the bus!

Again, I believe that’s what he’s doing here  but only Joe knows for certain.

In the meantime we can agree to disagree and I doubt whether Joe gives a rip what either one of us believe!

I think you're being too hard on him. It's been a very frustrating 3 years for him and the organization with injuries

I just think sometimes there's bad luck bro

Let me comment here as well.
I don't think Burrow is done.  I think he's frustrated about more than a couple of things this year and I don't blame him.
However, there has been improvement on the o-line play this year and they have plenty of weapons coming back on offense.
He needs an offseason in the worst way and I will be happy to give that to him after 3 more losses.

Fix the damn defense.  I don't care if they fire Golden, dump half the players or whatever, just get them to 15-20 range.
Being the worst at damn near every statistical category on defense is no winning scenario and too hard for any offense to overcome.

If we are to look at the schedule, as we can guess right now for 2026, what are your feelings?

Of course we have 6 games against our division rivals (Ravens, Steelers, Browns).
We have the Titans, Saints, Buccaneers, Jaguars and whatever team finishes in the same spot as the Bengals from the AFC West at home.
As of right now, that would be the Chiefs w/o Mahomes or the Raiders.
We have the Colts, Falcons, Panthers, Texans and whatever team finishes in the same spot as the Bengals from the AFC and NFC East on the road.
As of right now, that would be the Dolphins or Jets and either the Commanders or Giants.

Can things change between free agency and the draft?  Yes, they most typically do, but I like that schedule right now.
Improve the defense and pray for a healthy Joe Burrow.  2025 will be forgotten quickly.

There's optimism for you...

Bengals offense ranks highly in money paid and turnovers.   The turnovers have now existed for 2 seasons and the amount of points scored off those turnovers happens so frequently that it can't be washed away as a Jake Browning issue.

Team's rise and fall in the NFL all the time.   There's a bunch of scenario's fans can paint up in their minds to "fix".   The offense has a bunch of dead money tied into it so its likely they'll be among the highest paid offenses in the league next year.

The most realistic return to playoffs starts with an offense that doesn't turn the ball over so much.  Gets its franchise QB playing at high level again for the entire season.

Fans act like they've been scoring 30+ every week this year or something.  They've been shit from game 1 and its the number 1 reason to fire Zac.

I agree with you AMPHAR, the offense has to get their shit together for sure.
The reason most would think a return to the playoffs starts with an offense that doesn't turn the ball over is warranted, but people (fans) have faith in that happening because there are above average players on the offensive side of the ball.  That faith is not shared when considering what it will take for the defense to get to mid level.  No, INT's aren't just a Jake Browning issue, but he sure as shit was a LARGE part of it.  Of the 16 INT's thrown this season, he accounts for half of them with another 25% each to Flacco and Burrow.  Yes, that needs to improve.  No, they also have not been scoring 30 points a week and I agree with you there, but they did score more than 30 points 4 times this season.  In those games they are 1-3.

I'm not absolving anyone from this seasons team failures.
I only hope it continues for 3 more weeks, because they only thing left to win is a top 5 pick.

Maybe I should stop caring about how things go down, the players they draft, the coaches and all that.
Just a simple fan of the concept of football in my home town city who roots for the laundry.
Maybe then I won't feel so disappointed and find myself rooting for losses at the end of the season.

Go orange and black team !!

You sound like a great candidate to join the bengals front office.

This insight into the Bengals Front Office mindset may replace “P.H.A.T.” on the locker room wall next season.

You know at this point I’m not sure it will be Burrow who will run himself out of town, but better yet the media might run him out of town. Let the freaking guy play football, ask him football questions, not questions on weather or not he is having fun here, or likes it here, or what his future holds. I’m so sick of hearing these stupid questions all the time.
