You can't miss the playoffs three years in a row and expect to beat Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes when suddenly things click. It didn't happen for Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers when their teams resurged and that's the NFC. Big Ben didn't go back to the SB after two years out of the playoffs. That conference became a two team race. JA and PM are the new PM/TB.

But that question on Burrow probably never gets answered. The Bengals are a ways away from going back to the playoffs if it has to be on the defense, but the NFL script has been written.

Good News: Bengals getting a high draft pick is looking better.

Bad News: Their scouting department will waste it chasing another DE that wont produce like Myles Murphy or Shemar Stewart.

Unfortunately, this doesnt look like a strong year for Offensive Lineman near the Top.

Golden is terrible. Duke has to go.

If either one of them is here in 2026, boycott the franchise.

Golden better be gone on the bye week, anyone can do what he does which is shit! Seriously he has to be the worst coach I have ever watched. I watch all game guys trying to tackle with there shoulders, no one wraps up anymore is gross! Fire him now

He wasn't qualified to begin with. He had 1 good year as a college DC. Problem is, Zac Taylor doesn't have a lot of NFL connections, and can't bring in a good Coordinator, so he goes for the limited people he knows, and brings back their former LB coach in Golden.

Bengals need a better more experienced Head Coach, who has connections, and can put together a good Staff. Shit, even Anarumo was like the 6th or 7th Choice for DC when Taylor was hired. Everybody else interviewed had turned down the job, and Taylor knew Anarumo from a bad Miami D.

Taylor needs to go.

So I think the defense gets worse week after week, and who knows maybe with Hendrickson on the line they win because he probably would have had 3 sacks today. However is really bad when the defense gets worse week after week, instead of getting better. So think that says something about this coaching staff

Been saying this for a long time, since he was hired. There was no experienced coach with Zac. He is clueless on so many levels, so he goes out and hires his friend instead or getting and experienced guy to come in here and help a terrible defense. It was such a mistake, and one that cost this team the playoffs this year. Man did he screw up

Apparently, the Bengals D is a quick way to double your season totals.

Colston Loveland had 116 yards and 0 TD in 6 games played. Then goes for 118 and 2 TD. Doubling his season yardage total in 1 game.

Kyle Monangai had 186 yards rushing in 7 games, and boom 176 vs Bengals, again doubling his season production.

Bengals are going to sweep the Ravens and Steelers if they have any chance. They need Burrow back week 12.

WHY?  Flacco has scored an average of 37.6 points in 3 games and is 1-2!

What is Burrow going to add?

You are a Saints fan so I’ll give you a pass because every Bengal fan on the planet can see that NONODY can win with this defense!!

That’s 6 games so far in 2024 and 2025 that they scored 30+ points and lost and there are 8 more to go!

Nothing. Not because he isn’t great but because Jesus K. Rist, QB Salvation University couldn’t win with this d.

I’m trying to figured out exactly what happened. So the beginning of the year we were saying damn Burrow could be winning with this defense , and since then they get worse and worse every week. What the hell did they do geez!

Thing is they were the worst last year and did nothing to help themselves out, not a damn thing!

All that I see happening now is locker room turmoil offense against defense it’s so bad.

Once again like last year the offense is Playoff bound, and the defense sucks ass! So thanks Zac and the front office for addressing this situation, and what you did has failed.

Geez just read where the media tried to talk to a bunch of defense guys, and they smiled and laughed and said see you Monday. WTF is wrong with these guys.

Man this team needs a real HC and a real GM this shit is just gross!

They’ve checked out. Don’t know about the offense but Zac/Al have lost the locker room on the defensive side. It sucks that Al is in this position, he’s hardly had a fair shake, but I don’t see how he survives the bye.

Give the Saints fan a break. I’m fairly sure he meant the Bengals will NEED to sweep PIT/BAL “to have a chance”, not that they WILL.

Yes but he ALSO said they need Burrow!?!?!

I don’t think anymore needs to be said!

He can’t he just can’t! Your right he has been giving shit for players, but those shit for players can’t do the simple things they have been taught since playing as kids. Can’t tackle, can’t stay gap sound, or get off blocks, or can’t rush. Things that Golden should have been teaching from the start. His game calls suck anyways, never see exotic blitzes or anything. He has to go if they want to show fans something, that they have some kind of care to win then he has to go

Let me ask this question, because you guys go much deeper into this stuff than I do.

What exactly do you think bringing in another DC will accomplish with this defensive talent.

We saw what Lou could accomplish with basically same group, but look at the Colts this year.  All he can do is teach, but it’s up to the players to execute!

Before you say new DC would get other players, FO would have to go along and existing player contracts would come into play.

Looking at the Colts, I’m sure Lou had fundamental football at the top of his list but he can’t execute!

31 owners KNOW Brown is the worst and I think it comes down to him and the FO.

Not much we can do except complain about how bad the coaches are because we can’t fire the FO!

Someone else might not constantly drop Joseph Ossai into coverage.

Now, that's snarky on my part. I think the essence of your point is true. The players are terrible, and a change at DC would be unlikely to net massive improvement right away. However, I do think some improvement is plausible. Golden's defense has truly achieved the impossible: be worse than 2024. That's just about the one thing he could not let happen, and it has happened.

Regardless, meaningful progress is unlikely if they continue to miss on a staggering proportion of their draft choices every year. It all returns to Tobin for me (and the ownership family by extension for giving him permanent, unquestioning job security). The owners can't be fired, but Tobin can. It would require a huge break from Bengals normalcy, but I think it's plausible for the noise in the fanbase and national media to put pressure on them.

Whether bringing in a new DC will improve things or not (personally I doubt it) is beside the point. What exists right now is corrosive. It will destroy the entire team if it keeps up. You have Ja’marr and Chase brown calling out the d publicly tonight. You have defensive players laughing at reporters and walking out on them. It just can’t go on like this, no matter how futile a change might be.
