Also, Watson looks like shit.  He’s probably gone after this year, it’s going to be an unhappy ending for Watson in Cleveland.

No way they can cut him until after 2025 at the earliest. His cap hit next year is $73 million. Dead money if he was cut would be $173 million.

Cap hit in 2026 is still $73 million, dead money is $100 million, so even then it’s tough. Bottom line is their pretty much stuck with him.

Sunday’s 16-10 loss to the New England Patriots dropped the Bengals to 1-10 in the first two games of the season since Taylor arrived in 2019.

Only two other teams have fewer than three wins in Weeks 1-2 in that span, the Carolina Panthers (2-9) and the New York Jets (2-8, with their opener still to come Monday night).

It’s not just the Bengals’ early losses; they’ve been stunning and sloppy. The Bengals have lost five consecutive Week 1-2 games, and they were favored in all five of them.

In three of them, they were favored by at least 7 points—8.5 today vs. the Patriots, 7 in the 2022 Week 2 game at Dallas, and 7 in the 2022 opener at home vs. the Steelers.

They also were favored by 1.5 in last year’s opener at Cleveland and by 3.5 in last year’s Week 2 home game against Baltimore.

Ok I think it was feasible to cut him after ‘24, but then they just restructured his deal, for the second time, and his cap number went up.  Again.  That owner dug a hole and he just keeps on digging.

Thinking about Burrow and his comments about being healthy all through camp was “Uncharted Territory”.

Well, they are 0-1.
They've charted the shit out of that territory. Guess being healthy didn’t matter after all.

This coaching staff is failing.

They can erase this game from relevance by stealing a win in KC. I doubt it happens, but I'll give them the opportunity before I completely eviscerate everyone and everything. While they definitely always start slow, they also always recover. So we'll see.

Just bad on 3rd down.   Pay a QB that much.   You must protect him better on at least 3rd down and he's got to convert them.

Couldn't do it today, so it translates to 48 plays being run.    Can not feed the ball to anybody with that 3rd down performance and that number of plays.

Maybe it's just the irritation, but I find myself second guessing decisions this team has made.

It's not a true apples to apples comparison, but don't think it's far off either.
In another town, not far up the road, the Detroit Lions have built one of the best offensive lines and are severely limited at WR.
They have a QB cast off from his old team and bits and pieces from the draft and free agency across that roster.
However, they are not only succeeding, but have better odds at winning the Super Bowl than the Bengals.

In the meantime, we have a high end, high paid QB, two WR's who both want to be paid at the top of the market and consistently field one of the worst o-lines in all of football.  Couple that with a 1-10 record through the first two weeks of Coach Taylor's head coaching run.

I'm not suggesting burning it down, but I am thinking they may have gone in the wrong direction.
Maybe stop drafting WR's in the first two rounds and take more shots with the building of the o-line?
Of course that starts with firing Pollack and going after a noted (see successful) o-line coach to assist that build.

Again, I'm not suggesting this is a spot on comparison, just what I'm thinking when I watch our Bengals play.
Then again, maybe I'm completely full of shit and wrong.  God knows that's truly a possibility.

Still angry today...

Mixon stats yesterday:  30 Attempts, 159 yds, 5.3 avg, 1 TD, 1 W

I was cheering hard for him every time he touched the ball.
"LET'S GO MIX, GO GO GO" !!!  Wishing him nothing but the best and happy to be rooting for the Texans as well.
At least they didn't let my ass down yesterday.  They have gotten to be a close #2 team for me thanks to ArmyBengal Jr.

Don’t really care about any of it.

Higgins, no Higgins.
Chase, no Chase.
Injuries or not.

If this team is suppose to be a high end Super Bowl contender, they should be able to beat a hapless Pats team as long as they have a healthy Burrow.

Does he make the players around him better or is he Dalton who has to have everything line up? I’m guessing the former.

Bengals - 27
Patriots - 17

Not sure about the wrist.  We could be looking at Joe (Greg Cook) Burrow, or even a better parallel, the Don Gullet of the Bengals???

Didn't have a history of injuries in college? :scream:

If you're going to replace a Mixon, you gotta have AT LEAST a Perine type equivalent!!

100 Army!  Love me some CJ Stroud.  Adding Mixon just made it even better!

Lombardi may end up in Houston before it ever will in Cincinnati!

That WR corp is also really fun to watch.
Nico, Diggs, and Tank are a really nice 1-3.
Love CJ, love Mixon.  A defense that really gets after it as well.
Dalton Schultz is also a really underrated TE that I would have liked to see here in Cincinnati.

Oh well, where was I?  Oh yeah, the Bengals.
Jesus, slap me.

I haven't scoured this thread, and can't intentionally put myself through unwanted frustration by watching the games, but Jungle Noise were really hard on Hudson for the fumble, but didn't Gesicki drop a TD pass??

Hudson is what, second year, Gesicki a VFA???

Hudson is kinda new to us, but is a 30 year old vet player

I hate football media, but I do agree with ones that say this team is way to finesse. There is nothing physical about them, they get pushed around all the time. Not only that but they are so vanilla, they take no chances. There were no trick plays, no end arounds, nothing to keep the Pats guessing. Every year it’s the same damn thing, and it really getting frustrated.
