Week 1: Patriots @ Bengals

Recommended Posts

So, a little trip down memory lane. The Bengals have faced Brissett twice in his career, two years ago while he was in Cleveland, and back in the Year of Our Lord 2017 when he was a Colt.

In an odd quirk, both games were that year's Halloween game, taking place Oct. 29 of 2017 and the 31st of 2022.

In 2017, Jacoby went 25 of 39 for 233 yards, with 2 TDs and a pick. He was also sacked four times. However, Fat Randy helped keep Indy in the game with a blocked FG from the 16 yard line, and the difference in the game ended up being that interception, a pick-6 by Dunlap halfway through Q4 that gave Cincy a 24-23 win.

The 2022 game in Cleveland was one of those nightmares best forgotten. Brissett was 17 of 23 for 278 yards, a TD and a pick. He also ran for a score and lost a fumble. None of it really mattered, however, as the Bengals couldn't find an offense with both hands, a spotlight and satellite GPS that day. Their first seven drives were INT, punt, punt, punt, fumble, missed FG, punt. Yeah, we all remember that one now, don't we? Ugh.

So a little chance for payback here.

I will have the DVR running for that one.

It's ArmyBengal Jr.'s senior year in high school and we are opening the season in Indianapolis to watch his Texans take on the Colts.
I have really grown to love the Texans over the years of my son rooting for them.  Going to Indy and Houston with him is a lot of fun.
I'm selfishly hoping he decides to stay close to home for college, so we can keep going to games together.  He's a good kid !!

However, if we wouldn't have been in Indy, we definitely would have been at the Bengals home opener.

Liscow is preaching caution here - him dressing is good, but given how training camp has unfolded, we cant (unfortunately) assume he's practicing

I am guessing this practice is closed to the media? and also therefore guessing that we wont know til EoD if he practiced or not

All I’ll say re Chase is that I almost hope he doesn’t play, because if they need Chase to beat a nine and a half point underdog at home, then we can shut this site down and focus on yard work and home improvement projects on Sundays.

Supposedly Chase’s contract is signed and they’ll announce it today.  Source - random guy on the internet who’s been right before.

We’ll see how he plays.  The guy is not Superman.  Presumably he needs reps and practice to roll into the vaunted “football shape.”

I'll take that, although it doesn't appear that anyone knows what that means.
Sounds like if a deal doesn't get done, his status for the opener is still in doubt.
Not stressing anything, but it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I say he's going to play.   Will it be his customary 100% snaps?   Don't know.     Chase pulling a Cordy Glenn would destroy his chance of getting the highest WR deal in the short term.

National media has hot takes out the ass.   Some have even gone as far to blame the Bengals for Hamilton County selling TVs.
