I absolute love how meaningless it is to win in prime time these days.

It helps when you’re the draw. If you go back and look at the bad old days, when they did get a prime time slot, they were always playing a star team, usually Pittsburgh but if not the some team like Dallas or Green Bay. It was the equivalent of those gimme college games where a Michigan or OU plays East Vermont State. Rams aren’t pushovers but at least there was a chance. They got it done tonight.

Jessie Bates was a great safety for the Bengals.   But Dax Hill is just a different kinda safety.   Not sure how Dax Hill is doing om coverage or pre snap duties wise, but he is certainly a big play safety in the making.    Already has 4 tackles for a loss and a sack.

Jessie Bates never had a sack as a Bengal.    Logan Wilson just around the ball all the time.

Defense has given 2 good efforts and 1 crappy one.

Offense?  Defenses will not get away from 2 high safety looks until you can prove to them snap after snap grinding out first downs and then touchdowns.    Unfortunately the Bengals are proving they can't grind out a drive most times.

QB is going to make a bad throw or two.  WR going to drop a pass or not make a contested grab like they've been proven to do.   They'll make a pre snap penalty.       They are really missing the Hurst and Perine underneath factor right now.   Especially with the struggle of Higgins.

That was an entertaining game to watch.  Loved seeing that defense come into its own.  I was really worried they just wouldn’t find it after losing Jessie Bates and Von Bell, but man they looked good last night.

Offense - If Burrow never gets healthy, if he looks like that all year, we’re going to get swept by the Browns and the Steelers.  He won’t be able to help out his line against Watt and Garrett who will feast on an immobile target.

So basically, we need a witch doctor to come in, specifically a calf specialist witch doctor, and fix our football team.

I hope the Offensive Line is not playing at peak performance.   The amount of negative plays has decreased tremendously from last year.     There has to be a gradual improvement like they see every year and then hopefully the health factor falls their way.

They got another tough front 7 this week.

Random thoughts the morning after...

Burrow is clearly not himself. He's mostly throwing with his arm, not his body, and so the ball sails and floats on him. That said he can and did sling it from time to time, but he's clearly picking his shots to minimize the risk of re-injury.

He's also sticking to the pocket a lot more than usual, so props to the line for keeping him mostly clean last night. Donald got in his licks but that was inevitable. He really abused poor Volson on a couple plays, but Cordell redeemed himself with a great block on the Mixon TD run.

Too many false starts. I know they want to rest Burrow to the max but we cant afford to waste 1-2 series every week getting everyone on the same page.

Higgins needs to scrub his hands with Dawn dishwashing soap before the next game to get the grease off.

Since we always bitch about coaching, props to Taylor/Callahan for moving Chase around to create opportunities for him. That paid off handsomely. More of that please.

Mixon has not looked this good since his rookie season. He's running through guys, brushing off arm and ankle grabs, hitting his lanes fast and really seems to be seeing the field. I don't know where he's been the last couple years, but welcome back, Joe.

Myles Murphy still has no stats. Yeah, his opportunities are limited but through three games he's been in on 19% of defensive snaps and 22% of ST snaps. Production: zero.

Fortunately we have Trey Hendrickson.

Dax Hill had a great night overall, though IIRC he got burned on one of the long balls. Defense gave up too many big pass plays last night imo. But a combination of luck, bad LA playcalling and good defense got them out of multiple jams. Biggest one might have been that TD pass that was called back for the receiver allegedly being a RCH out of bounds. I still think the Rams got jobbed there, but I'll take it.

Logan Wilson certainly earned his extension money last night.

Was good to hear Reader's name called a couple times. Been a minute.

Murphy had a couple good rushes last night.   I'm not sure if he was the one that drew a penalty for the guy holding the helmet opening.   I thought it was him.    Then he had strong middle push on another that led to a sack.

Volson struggled vs. Donald.   He also has some really nice crushing run blocks.
