HoosierCat Posted August 29, 2014 Author Report Posted August 29, 2014 Yeah, Dhani was a FA. Always like that pickup.I think the fact we've got a strong line helps a lot too. They make the LBs look better. Even Caleb Miller would be serviceable behind this crew. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 29, 2014 Report Posted August 29, 2014 Even Caleb MillerFrodo. I recall that well. Quote
HoosierCat Posted August 29, 2014 Author Report Posted August 29, 2014 Heh. Caleb had more hairstyles than tackles. The RunPee Era is over in Buffalo. I guess they pumped him for info and said get out. Lol Quote

TJJackson Posted August 31, 2014 Report Posted August 31, 2014 Finding it hard to believe that Ryan Whalen hasnt been signed by someone Quote
GapControl Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 Whalen is one of those guys who just couldn`t shine at the highest level. He may make it onto someone`s team through injury but I don`t seem him as ever being as productive as...say... Kevin Walter.Where is he now? He was pretty clutch for us back in the early Palmer years. Quote

COB Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 Crocker cut in Minnesota.Harrison retired.I'd just about guarantee that Zimmer told him we're going call you eventually, so don't sign with anyone else. Like us for instance. Quote

Wraith Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 Interesting that no one took a flier on Ross. This is where the NFL needs a developmental league. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 Interesting that no one took a flier on Ross. This is where the NFL needs a developmental league.I got a good look at Ross during the Colts games and while he is big and athletic, he's a "little" on the chunky side.I know no one is expecting someone of that size to be nothing but muscle, but it was glaring.Combine that with just how raw he is and it doesn't really surprise me much. Ross is clearly a guy who needs a lot of development to realize his obvious potential, but the NFL really doesn't have a way to do it. Teams use the PS as a reserve, not a true developmental squad.Ross is only 21, so his best bet might be to spend a year or two in Canada, work on his technique and hopefully build up some good tape. Of course, that assumes he could catch on.Here's a thought: just like the league added two PS spots for more experienced guys this year, add two "developmental" spots. These two spots can be taken only by rookies who have not previously been on an NFL roster or practice squad, and who were either UDFAs or drafted no earlier than the fifth round. No player can spend more than one year in a developmental slot and signing them to an active roster spot or the PS eliminates any future eligibility for a developmental spot. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 Oh, i'm not disagreeing about the need for a developmental league or the idea you had Hoosier (which I like), just saying that given the situation we currently find ourselves in, seeing what Ross looks like, and knowing he's so raw, it doesn't surprise me he didn't catch on.
