53 Man Roster as is.

Shawn Williams was actually competing for playing time during Hard Knocks. Iloka seemed to separate himself with knowledge of the system. He's just the more polished player. Williams is going to get his trial by fire and no doubt we'll see some stupid mistakes. Targeting is a possibility with that guy. But better to jump in with both feet against the Dolphins instead of the Steelers or the Ravens.

Seeing how they have spread the ball around to so many different players, I can't see the need for Whalen.

It's not to say he's a poor player, but he's surrounded by talent. There are only so many opportunities.

Even though someone new might not make an immediate impact they could toward the end of the season and playoffs.

I wouldn't mind seeing them do something in the secondary in the least. Thin is an understatement.

What do we have - like 16,834 receivers on this team now?

16,835. From twitter:

Surpsie visitor at the Bengals team hotel. Chad Johnson just walked in.

Someone needs to escort him to the nearest door.

No kidding. He knows cameras will be around, just trying to get his stupid face on tv. This motherf**ker was a distraction when he played, and he's still trying to mess things up for us.

Agreed, why in the world would Chad be allowed on the sideline? The mission is to win football games, Chad being there does not serve that mission in any way, and in fact could detract from it. Send him over to the Dolphins sideline, that's the last team he played for, and their current condition certainly reflects Chad's influence much more than ours does.

Silver Lining Potential: Chad preens for the camera, doesn't watch the field, and gets trucked by Peko running some ballcarrier out of bounds. A guy can dream, can't he?

I would guess that Marvin lets Chad on the sideline because he likes him. There's never been any indication that he had a problem with Chad (in fact, treating him with kid gloves was a routine complaint about Marv back the the day). And while he might drive many hardcore fans to drink, he was a hugely popular player and likely still is among casual fans. Say what you want about his knucklehead ways, he never walked out on the team (like Carson) or refused their money (like TJ). He was just the class clown.

Never walked out on the team? I guess that is technically true. Remember his trade me world tour? Wed have been better off if he had walked out. He didn't abandon the bengals, he wrecked the bengals.

He absolutely played a role in that wreck but there was lots of poison in that locker room. In the end I think he was just the most visible.
