BengalszoneBilly
Why did people want this man fired?I pray we manage to extend him.Playing the devils advocate here, what happens if Marvin Lewis completes 10 full years in Cincinnati as head coach, and doesn't win a playoff game? Is he still a keeper, or can the sun finally set on his job leading the Bengals? Just wondering...
ArmyBengal
Benson to meet with Goodell Thursday:Bengals running back Cedric Benson enjoys the support of coach Marvin Lewis in the wake of Benson's recent arrest for assault. Whether he has the support of Commissioner Roger Goodell remains to be seen.Per a league source, Benson will meet with Goodell on Thursday. The timing is curious, given that Benson's pending criminal case has not yet been resolved. Then again, it's possible that the league office regards Benson as a repeat offender under the Personal Conduct Policy, even though two prior arrests (drunk driving, drunk boating) resulted in no conviction or guilty plea. Then there's the fact that Benson didn't bother to tell the team or the league about the recent charges before officially being arrested. Though he claims that he emerged from the incident at an Austin, Texas club believing he was the victim, Benson learned a couple of weeks later in no uncertain terms that a club employee contends that Benson committed assault. Under the language of the Personal Conduct Policy, which require a prompt report after any incident that "may be" a violation, Benson did himself no favors by not calling the Bengals immediately after being contacted by a detective regarding the allegations./>http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/07/20/cedric-benson-meeting-with-commissioner-on-thursday/

BengalszoneBilly
I doubt Goodell will make the decision quite that quickly. Has Roger Goodell ever made a decision quickly?Possibly when he was offered the job as commissioner? I'm grasping at straws here, but I think he'd pull the trigger right away on that one. He’s not sure if Goodell will make a call before the season or wait to see if the case is resolved in court. “The Commissioner and Cedric had a frank and productive discussion regarding the benefits of playing in the NFL as well as the price to enjoy those benefits,” Cornwell wrote. “Cedric is his best advocate and I believe the Commissioner was pleased with their discussion.” Benson also has an advocate in his head coach. Marvin Lewis said earlier this week that Benson was “jumped” and “sucker-punched.”

derekshank
Good deal. I didn't expect a reasonable reaction from Goodell against what many viewed as a stereotypical Bengal Bad Boy. So good for him... making the right choice.Great for the Bengals... bad for the Patriots and Ravens!
