Moreau is supposedly on his 2nd visit to the Nati. Hopefully something gets done. He had a nice TD catch over Wilson the last time they played in Vegas. Didn't have any catches in the Wild Card game. I would have rather had Hurst but I could see him making plays on this team. I don't think it would close the door on other TEs either. Would like it more if it is multi year deal.
-
Bengals had $4.5m on the table for Perine? $7m for Hurst? I would find that surprising considering they let CJ walk last year for a slightly more amount and cut Gio with about the same amount. My guess is Bell and Pratt were earmarked for the same amount and it came down to who wanted it first then the Bengals planned to back fill whatever spot that was open for less. Denver/Panthers have playoff prospects.

lol, deafening. So top 5 drafting teams should be offering up that pick + plus another one + $50m per year or its colluding? Okey dokey, lol. WTF? Again your opinion on individual team's QB situation or the league's hierarchy of QBs doesn't suggest collusion the fact you included top 5 drafting teams shows how weak the point is and how strong Army's original point was. Anyway. Bengals signed Scharping. No collusion for guards.
-
yet 1 QB doesn't get 100% guarantee contact the league is colluding? There's no need to disprove it. Vikings/Browns show he wasn't available at the right time for those bidders. If a mandate was given why didn't they follow? This does not include any consideration of the Franchise Tag requirement which the players accept in their CBA. There is also no reasonable expectation that QBs should expect 100% guaranteed contracts. There are recent deals without those players asking for it.
-
Scharping resigned. With Ford in the fold there's going to competition for depth at those interior spots. What do they usually keep 10 total? 4 tackles, 2 true centers, 4 guards? Bengals are putting in 2 former 2nd round picks to compete for back up roles. Not bad, IMO, entering TC. There's probably a few teams that have Scharping's penciled in as starters starting TC.
-
No. That's not collusion. Collusion is a majority of owners regardless of QB situation get together and decided only X percent or less guaranteed should be offered. The fact the Browns already have given 100% and the Vikings too. Shoot down any thought of collusion league wide. The reason for this is simply the CBA process. As Army pointed out there are multiple teams with legit reasons why they would not contact Lamar Jackson and his individual "bid" requirements. There have been new QB contracts that didn't have his requirement. Carr, Jones, didn't require 100% guarantees. As far as we know Burrow isn't asking for it either. Collusion isn't based on your opinion of the Atlanta Falcons QB situation or hierarchy of league QBs. As I have pointed out the Bengals projected cap room has X amount already ear marked for Burrow where as a new mega deal for Jackson on any team other than the Ravens would have to figure a way to deal with it. That is a major factor in determining pursuit of Jackson not even factoring draft capital and Lamar's problems. It looks like he can't stay healthy or IMO he quit on his team. He doesn't read defenses all that great and doesn't have great touch on his throws. Lou when Lamar dares play against the Bengals dares him to throw it. There's a bunch a reasons why you want Lamar Jackson to QB your team and there's a bunch of reason's why you don't want to lock into him 100% no way out. I would love to see Jackson to return to Baltimore with a chip on his shoulder and they get away from his strengths. Over a 17 game season he isn't a Joe Burrow or whatever high end passer you want to compare him to. Everyone can see that. Lamar Jackson is a beast to deal with when he's running.
-
Falcons at first glance seem like a good fit for Lamar and maybe he is. However they have 81m under in 2024 with 43 players signed. Not sure if they have any major players to extend but in comparison we know the Bengals are facing a tough 2024 off season with $109m under with just 29 signed. However that includes $29m for Joe Burrow (they assume his 5th option) so that's a huge benefit. Falcons will have to find or work around the cap for Jackson that should be in the $40-50m range per year.

McKinnon - is a RB I would like the Bengals to pursue.

In the late 80s Boomer and Co. rolled a constant top 5 offense and most the time top 2. Hitting averages that have not been seen by Burrow and Co. For a brief period Boomer was up there with the Marino's of the world. Munoz, Eddie Brown etc. Always had a the hybrid FB/HB to compliment Brooks. Different times today. Bengals can find a way to roll out Brown, Higgins, Chase and Burrow the next 4 years I would hope they can start hitting those 400 yard per game marks. On paper having that level of player at those spots makes it easier to back fill the others like it was in the late 80s. They are going to be tough to deal with. They find a higher level Right Tackle and your talking about 2015 bengals with a better HC and QB.

There was something going on in that Ravens organization this past year. I think Lamar tanked. No matter how you view it the past 2 years the Bengals have played 3 games vs. Ravens with playoffs or season on the line and all 3 featured a back up QB. I'm surprised a team hasn't been rumored to be preparing an offer sheet but if they are calling Lamar and being told 100% or nothing then I can see why that process doesn't go very far. Also with the right to match, some teams maybe leary of doing the Ravens work for them. The biggest legal term would be bid rigging or suppression but there's a number of teams that have QBs already and there are a number of 1st round QBs. Then you had competition from other NFL vet QBs. So its kinda hard to say that's what is happening. With 2 first round picks plus huge contract being the price to enter. Plus the Raven could just match. Plus Lamar tanked (IMO). There's 3-5 first round QBs. Aaron Rodgers and Derek Car that have several things over Lamar. Of course Aaron Rodgers is kinda goofy and old so I'm not sure why the Jets aren't taking a look at Jackson. I hope he plays on that tag or holds out. Creates a bunch of drama this entire season for them. Leaves and the Ravens get pennies on the dollar for him.

Scott is a trust in Lou signing. We'll see. I like that its multiple years they need to start filling 2024 slots.

I have no idea who is going to trade for Jonah or what they would give up. If I was a Jag fan I would have never thought some team would swoop in a give a under whelming right tackle $20m a year to switch to left tackle. I think this goes back to what was reported before. Line coaches, scouts, whatever know they can't accurately project college tackles into the NFL so they are opting for tackles with NFL film to evaluate, I guess. Personally, I have no idea what the Bengals do at RT. I've thought since the day he was drafted Carman was targeted for RT, he's got power, he's put that on film, he's also road the bench. I would love for Jonah to reconsider and give some comfort at RT, but would take a 2nd or 3rd right now.
-
Bears supposedly were in on all the Free Agent tackles but got shut out for what ever reasons. They have draft capital. I would think they could get involved with Jonah and even rework his deal.
-
Yeah, I really don't know what the RT spot will look like. Just know when you add 1 body another eventually will be leaving. The only question was how unknown was the trade request to the Bengals. Was it assumed or where they counting Jonah to be the RT? I'm sure the particulars of the Free Agency workings will trickle out at some point. Jonah Williams can probably get more $$$ via a trade and contract rework than his $12m so I don't blame him. Heck Jawan Taylor's of the world are getting $20m to be LT. Really can't blame him. Ford, Carmen, Adeniji, Collins is another heartburn TC convo at RT along with new safeties.

Katie is a smooth talker

Supposedly there was a lot of funny money ramping up the average per year in the Chiefs offer. Since he never put pen to paper we'll never know for sure.
-
Yeah I just don't know. The Carman experience in the playoffs was refreshing but the Rams had a similar experience with Noteblom or whatever filling in for Whitworth a couple times he struggled this year. You just don't know until you get a string of games. Although if he's going to be disgruntled and you can get $12m and something back for him, then maybe.
-
Safety is going to this year's Left Guard convo during TC. Bates/Bell were first day FA losses. Any safety sitting around now obviously isn't going to have the resume of those 2. I personally think rookies can come in and contribute at S rather quickly, but no one really wants to assume that. Safety is going to be talked about for this team until the regular season games start taking place. Hopefully they get something done CB wise soon because they still have significant snaps at risk on the FA market. Apple/Flowers need to be reupped or replaced. Otherwise the whole secondary will be TC convo.

$21.9m cap hit in the last year of the deal. If he's pro bowl level still, you have to like that.
-
Great Scott! I like the speculation of multi year deal. Again start ticking off those 2024 spots. This is a trust in Lou signing. They are down 2 safeties so there is roster room to add 1 more if they want to. Not a whole lot of Ram fan message boards on the topic, what little I did find was disappointment he wouldn't be back. Also they think Rapp is crapp to put it nicely.
-
Bengals are signing former 2019 2nd rounders for depth on the cheap. Chiefs are giving them 3 years and $60m and starting them at LT. Advantage Bengals. If Ford can send some one to the wavier wire in August so be it. Scharping proved to be a nice late add in the Wild Card and Divisional round. Got ate up in the AFC Champ game.

KC threw for 5,000 yards. KC has a great play extender at QB. They run all kinds of formations and route concepts. I don't think rankings of tackles without these considerations are worth a damn. Teams can protect an average QB and their overall production will suffer but the individual lineman grades can go up. We saw this with Brian Finley experiment. They inserted him in the line up. Called the game to protect him. They would struggle to put more than 1 TD on the board, yet the O-line grades improved. With these rankings that have him 17th. What would it look like if you threw out any tackle on a team that didn't have 4,000 yards passing? Overall production has to be considered in deciding who's is the best. Or I guess what's best for the Bengals because they are going to put the game on Joe's shoulders. Brown is probably the best left tackle in the league for that. How can you compare him to a Left Tackle that's been blocking for Lamar Jackson? Block for an offense that relies on Henry? Different worlds.
-
I'm probably going to move my No. 1 wish list item to one of the 6 ft+' corner backs.
-
One of the local media guys before Free Agency started suggested that Line coaches around the league openly admit they have trouble projecting college tackles into the NFL. So he said the Bengals could dip their toe in Free Agency Tackle pool and use the first round pick on different position group just because of the confidence level of lack of one in projecting tackles. I thought there was no way in hell Bengals would be throwing major cap dollars at free agent tackles available below Brown. Never would have thought they'd go top shelf.

Maybe a Scharping replacement for depth? Maybe a kick the tires and see down the road type thing.
