My comments were based of of what Callahan and the RB coach had to say about him, not my personal thoughts. I can’t see them saying all that about him and coming up with the conclusion that he isn’t that good. Although I could be wrong, I don’t think that can be the final determination after 2 carries. Literally. Honestly I don’t care if they give Brown more carries or Williams or Evans, just give them more. I can’t help but think it has to do with pass blocking. Maybe that’s the talk of maybe brining Perine back. He’s a plus pass blocker. All I know is they need more than Mixon getting 90% of the carries.

I wasn't thrilled with Perine leaving and it's obviously hurt. That being said, I just don't get the unwillingness to get Brown more involved. They loved his toughness, production, burst, intelligence and great fit for the Bengals locker room. Limited pass protection noted by Callahan, but didn't seem worried about that. Thought he would be able to spell Mixon through games. Better runner than catcher. Noted there were a handful of RB's still on the board they liked, but Brown was someone they felt good about. Also mentioned they are high on Williams and Evans, so they thought they would be involved as well. Now I obviously don't know what's going on during practice or in the RB room, but it seems odd to me when considering the above. Mixon has gotten 96 carries through the first 6 weeks. While that's not concerning, Williams, Evans and Brown have 9 combined. That really doesn't jive with the thought of "spelling" Mixon. Why? Are they going to all of sudden get Perine involved more? It doesn't seem that way. If so, why haven't the others gotten reps to this point? They really don't know what these guys could do with more opportunities.

That's really cool to be honest. Bengals fans have been traveling more since Burrow and being competitive. Nice to hear WHODEY chants in opposing stadiums !!

Not sure if it just happened to be the one play, but he got absolutely blown up on one play against the Seahawks. If all else is factual, that is interesting. Thanks for the recommendations TJ !!

Yeah I’m here for a conference, but am making time for myself to see some of the history that resides here. The USS Constitution is on my list.

Sounds like Callahan is pretty pissed about the offense not performing up to standard. Well good !! I’m glad he’s pissed. So are we dude, so are we !!

Yeah a bunch of QB injuries for sure… On a completely different subject, I’m in Boston for the week. Anyone ever been and have a good restaurant recommendation? Or anything else for that matter?

I'm good now. Thanks Terry !!

Speaking of expectations being tempered, let me actually give you mine: Week 8- @49er's- LOSS Week 9- Bills- LOSS Week 10- Texans- WIN Week 11- @Ravens- LOSS Week 12- Steelers- WIN Week 13- @Jaguars- WIN Week 14- Colts- WIN Week 15- Vikings- WIN Week 16- @Steelers- LOSS Week 17- @Chiefs- LOSS Week 18- Browns- WIN That's 6-5 the rest of the way and 9-8 for the season. That may or may not get them into the playoffs, but that would be a steep drop off from what I expected. I could also see them just as easily lose to the Texans, Steelers (twice) and Jaguars. Maybe even the Browns for a 2nd time. As I sit here today, I would not be surprised to see them miss the playoffs. That was not my thought entering 2023.

- There seems to be so much confusion from one week to the next with our Bengals. - Early on, I would say Burrow's calf wasn't helping matters much, but not sure we can say that any longer. - One week, they can't throw the ball downfield, the next they light it up, and then back to nothing again. - They obviously continue to ignore the running game, so at least they are consistent there. - I have lost all faith that Pollack can fix this o-line. He's gotten time and money and still don't produce. Next... - Burrow has 7 passing TD's to this point. The only thing worse than that stat is the team has 1 (ONE) rushing TD all season. - I can't say I am thrilled by the play calling and it has been that way for the majority of the first 6 games. - They could put all 4 TE's that have caught passes this year together and they still wouldn't have a viable TE on this team. I'd like to end this positively by saying, at least they are 3-3 headed into the bye and that's really big for them. However, I then look at the schedule after the bye and have plenty of reasons to be skeptical of what to expect. I don't have near the same amount of reasons to think this team will go on a 8-9 game win streak. I will be rooting every week just the same, but expectations at this point are much tempered.

Yeah Burrow has been throwing behind all day but Smith is just ass. They need an outlet TE in the worst way. -

Just made it down to the stadium. Hoping to see them really put it all together today. WHODEY !! -
And yet they can’t afford 1 free refill of coke during the game anymore, after purchasing a drink that costs more than a 12 pack. Sometimes, I just really hate people.

I recall this issue but can’t find it. I can only log in on my cell phone, but not on my desktop. It’s asking for email address and password. I enter those and nothing. Anyone remember having this issue? I will delete this thread later. Thanks, Mark

They have two other guys that get reps. Wouldn't say they are near the quality of Schultz, but if Schultz leaves next year, they get nothing. The opportunity to add a true #1 WR to pair with rookie QB Stroud would be an amazing get for them. Building around Stroud, who has started well this season would be the key.

Allow me to float an idea out there in the "WHAT IF" world of hypotheticals... Since we are talking about how well Irwin filled in for Higgins during his absence and it appears Higgins is not in their long term plans, how about a trade involving Higgins? Don't get me wrong, I love Tee and would love to see him stay as a part of this offense for as long as Burrow and Chase are here. However, that does not appear to be in the cards. On the flip side, a TE that can give us what we got out of Hurst would be a very welcomed to the offense. A tight end I have enjoyed watching play for the past 4-5 years, currently on a 1 year deal (free agent in 2024), and has produced numbers far exceeding both Hurst and Uzomah, on a team lacking a true #1 WR, and a long term deal around 13-15 million per year as opposed to a Higgins deal around 22-25 million per year. Texans TE, Dalton Schultz Higgins is 3 years younger and plays a more high demand position, so I would assume the trade would also include a pick(s). Getting a true high end TE and a pick for Higgins, instead of a comp pick in the 3rd some time down the road is far more appealing to me. Obviously, that's pie in the sky stuff, but I could think of worse ideas. Feel free to pick apart...

Week 6: Seahawks @ Bengals Game Thread

Oh I don’t disagree when thinking of who we have, but doing exactly that might just help everyone in running more. It’s just more conversational than anything. I don’t know what the outcome would be and it might be worse. It’s just always been true that the run sets up the pass and softens defenses. That excites me personally. -

I get that and it's kind of the point to why not get others involved in the running game. Damn near everyone here has said, while watching the games, the offense looks vanilla and it's just not working. Early on in the Cardinals game, they showed a graphic pointing out where Burrow was making his throws from (the pocket) and where the throws are being distributed (mid point throws) which, until that game, rarely went downfield. They pointed out that's why defenses were able to figure out what the Bengals game plan was. I thought that was pretty telling. They could have put more and more time into developing that game plan and results probably weren't going to change much. -
They should have drafted a TE knowing what the position means to the offense. That was a team failure in my opinion. Hopefully one that won't occur again in 2024.
