Round 6 (206): Andrei Iosivas, WR Princeton
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
I guess it depends on if they can keep finding guys on the cheap AND have them remain healthy as well. When you look at both the Hurst and Smith 1 year deals, the two year total was a little over 5 million. If that remains the case and the next two years cost them about the same, that would be about 10 million. Lets pretend we took a TE in the second round this year. That would cost less than 6 million for 4 years. Should they pull the trigger in the later rounds, that prices continues to drops for a 4 year investment. I wouldn't mind seeing them do both to be honest. Get a young guy to wrap up for 4 years, while simultaneously bringing in a free agent add here and there. -

And they should be waiting with baited breath. Again, I actually think Smith with have a good season in this offense if he remains healthy. Outside of him, it's a bag of suck. A big bag. -

I mean, you are already busy with the RT try outs and all. It's a shame really. Not enough time in the day. -
Round 6 (206): Andrei Iosivas, WR Princeton
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
Jesus Mem, something up your ass today? Why so mad when someone speculates? I didn't even know how much this kid weighed, let alone much anything else about this seemingly nobody of a player. The Bengals being all in on a player with 15 starts over 4 seasons, along with a bunch of other absolutely unspectacular players is entirely up to them and I hope Smith has an All Pro season, but I'm not betting on it either. Calm down brother, it was just a talking point. -
Round 6 (206): Andrei Iosivas, WR Princeton
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
I'm just curious. Mostly because I still think there is a glaring hole at TE that needs to be addressed with more than an injury prone TE to this point. I'm not suggesting that's the best course of action. Hence the speculating comment. Guess that's a no. Cool... -
No problem. I just recall reading about him years ago and then nothing. Like he disappeared like a fart in the wind. Then poof, he's a Bengals UDFA. Crazy. Hoping the best for a dude that does in fact have loads of potential.

Round 1 (28): Myles Murphy, DE Clemson
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
Like I was saying, there was no way Murphy was going to make it to them at #28. I was absolutely shocked when he began to fall. Hell yeah !! -
Round 4 (131): Charlie Jones, WR Purdue
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
Please God, let this kid be the returner we've been asking for since forever !! -
Round 6 (206): Andrei Iosivas, WR Princeton

So again, I can't help but wonder, although I don't think this is what they were thinking, but can he play TE ?? He's big, fast, can catch and prides himself on his blocking. He sure isn't taking one of the top 3 WR spots and maybe not one of the top 4 if Jones is the return guy. I am totally speculating, but maybe he could find a place there when considering that room. -
Maybe the light has finally come on for Carman. Maybe he saw what potential free agent contracts hold. Whatever it is, I will root for him to take charge of that Right Tackle spot if Jonah continues his pity party. To be honest, I will root for anyone to take charge of the Right Tackle spot. Literally anyone... TJ, please report to PayJoe Stadium, there's a jersey with your name on it waiting !!! You got this bro !! Believe !!

Here you go. As a matter of fact, this was written almost two years ago to the date. https://www.si.com/college/washington/football/the-nfl-draft-clock-strikes-12-for-husky-ot-jaxson-kirkland Dude went from a possible top 15 pick two years ago, to undrafted.
-
Jaxson Kirkland... I remember this guy. Once upon a time, maybe a couple years ago, he was thought to be a future high end draft pick. I can remember reading about him. Then there was an injury, he went back to school and his play fell off or something like that. I may be wrong, but he never really got his feet (pardon the pun) back under him. I don't know if that was directly attributable to the injuries, but that would be my guess at this point. I'm glad they got him in here, because I recall the potential being there for this dude.
-
Holy shit... For those of you, like me, that really like the build up to the draft and taking a look at mocks. The people at Pro Football Network already have a mock draft simulator up for the 2024 draft. All the players have been updated, but there isn't any current information for them. Crazy fast with that update.

Not being funny in the least here Mem. Do you feel any of those RB's still available could come in and produce in this system like Mixon? I am curious about some still out there as well. I think a big part of my thinking in why there's not a chance in them reducing his salary at this point, is knowing the team's historical approach to contracts. It's not something they typically do, or at least to my recollection. I simply felt if they were going to do that, they would have prior to the draft. Obviously, that was just what I was thinking...

In looking at the perceived needs of the Bengals heading into the draft, many would have pegged CB, TE, OT, RB and pass rusher (whatever position) as the main targets. MURPHY- I thought he was going to be gone LONG before 28, so this checks the block with great value regardless of who else was still on the board. TURNER- Considering some were thinking he would sneak into the bottom of the 1st, this both checks a block and is great value. BATTLE- They obviously felt like me in regards to not being high on Dewand Jones and had a chance at the other Texas RB, but went safety to provide depth to a unit fielding two new starters with some questions. I also had him higher than here, so value in my eyes. JONES- Tyler Boyd is a free agent after this year, along with 572 other players apparently. You can't bring them all back. Jones had a stellar season and I'm hoping the word on his return skills bears fruit. Who else was on the board? One of my favorites in the UCLA QB, but thought the 4th was a reach. BROWN- Here's the RB to help out with the loss of Perine. It would have been interesting to see if they took TE Will Mallory had he not been taking right in front of them, but neither here nor there. Great pick considering who else was on the board. IOSIVAS- This one caught me off guard, as I didn't expect them to double up WR and not sure where exactly he fits outside of depth. TE Zack Kuntz was still there, but they must not have been high on him I guess. OG Andrew Vorhees was still there too, despite him probably missing 2023 with a knee injury. Would have been ok though as he could have made an impact in 2024. This pick still baffles me a little. ROBBINS- I have no concerns with this pick at all. Should immediately be the starting punter week 1. IVEY- I don't really care for this pick either. While many will say that it's a 7th rounder, I too look for the development possibility and probability of making the roster at some point. When looking at all the players that went undrafted, there were more than a handful I would have preferred more than Ivey. Hope he kills it. Honestly, when looking at needs covered and value, this appears to be another very solid draft. They were obviously far more comfortable at OT and TE, than anyone thought heading into it. In the pointless and way too early exercise of giving drafts a grade, I give this an "A-". "B+" at the absolute worst.
-
The Bengals had all the ammo they needed to get Mixon to reduce his salary before the draft. Now that the draft is over, I don't think there's a chance in hell that happens.

Round 6 (217): Brad Robbins, P Michigan
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
With the bald head, shaved face and crazy mustache, I was thinking he looked like Jim Carrey in the Sonic movie when he played Dr. Robotnic. -
I like Volson a lot too and think he will only improve. If he doesn’t, then they simply move on.

Round 4 (131): Charlie Jones, WR Purdue
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
Interesting. I have the right guy then. Again, I love the pick from a WR point. However, when watching him, I don’t see a special return guy. I see speed. Not that I won’t take that and hope for TD’s. -
Round 4 (131): Charlie Jones, WR Purdue
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
Don’t get me wrong, I like the pick a lot, but don’t see the returner I’m hearing people talk about. I see speed. I don’t see twitch and cutting ability that makes me think “Fear of God”. Pacman was that kind of returner. Maybe I’m looking at the wrong guy. I can’t find him in the top 50 of any return stat last year. Odd… -
Round 4 (131): Charlie Jones, WR Purdue
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
Ok maybe I’m looking in the wrong place or watching the wrong highlights, but can someone point me to what would have me believe this guy is a “Fear of God” returner ?? I see nothing that makes this guy stand out from any other returner I’ve ever seen. -
Round 5 (163): Chase Brown, RB, Illinois
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
Your brother is a willing tackler, being a safety, get with him Chase !! -
Round 6 (217): Brad Robbins, P Michigan
ArmyBengal replied to HoosierCat's topic in Cincinnati Bengals
The more I look at this pick, the more I like it. Bengals really killed it here. -
I know it’s the 7th round but this was my least favorite pick. Not because he sucks but it doesn’t pass the who else was on the board test. Just not a smart way to go when considering he won’t be seen except in preseason for the foreseeable future.

No way we head into the season trying to get back to the Super Bowl with this guy, Williams and Evans. Mixon will be back for 2023. Oh… this is a great pick.
