I've left the forums alone this week. It's understandable that the mentality isn't a positive one, but I also think it's predictable and probably misguided. They looked great against the crappy Falcons and terrible against the crappy Browns. Sometimes that's the NFL. An absolute ton of teams have ended up winning playoff games after having been 4-4. The Bengals have good enough players to join that company. So I will let them play on and see what happens. Thankfully this game should be a very informative one. Carolina shouldn't be viewed as a pushover, and they have scored some points in recent memory. But they're not as talented as this Bengals team, and they don't have the same experience overcoming adversity. So if the Bengals handle them even with their injuries, great. If they don't, then they're probably not that good anyway.

Pretty simple. Absolutely must beat Carolina and Pittsburgh to get to 6-4. Get healthier through the bye, and salvage this thing. I think tonight probably kills the division, but it doesn’t have to kill the season.

So this has been bad. That’s my analysis.

Kinda glad they went ahead with the IR just for the sake of timing. That sets him up to return for the Chiefs game, when he is critical. If they waited and ended up doing it next week that game would look rather dire. Browns, Panthers, Steelers, Titans Three clearly inferior teams and a good team with significant offensive shortcomings. Handle business.
