2021 Final Roster Thread

Recommended Posts

Keeping 10 or 11,  I'm sure its been done before but its not the norm.

They've added 5 OL since last year's training camp.   This is what was needed.

Seems reasonable to conclude they don’t do this deal of Trey Hill is injured.

Per Hobs TH has a hip flexor but he agrees, they wouldn’t do the deal if they didn’t believe he’d be ready by opening day.

If you follow national media or some bengal fans.... just because the Bengals didn't draft Sewell they didn't address OL.

In reality over half the room they started 2020 with will be gone and probably 2 to 3 new starters from the line up they in the 2nd game.

It's not Quantity but Quality that we are concerned about.  They have failed to bring in anyone with an All-Pro or even ProBowl pedigree.  That said Sewell graded 35 in his last preseason game.....all of these guys that took 2020 off seem to be struggling right now.

Yep.  Hopefully it’s just a lot of rust for chase.  I did not see this coming at all.  I figured lots of guys miss a whole year due to a major injury and they come back fine.

Kyle Pitts, though seeing limited time, has looked good.  He played in 2020.

Yeah but the only thing that can be evaluated right now is the preseason/training camp performance which indicates that they didn't fail to add quality.

That's never mentioned by national media.   I can understand the wait and see approach but then why couldn't you mention over half the guys they started with last year are gone?

Anyway,  its not the norm that teams keep 10,11,12 OL.  So guys like Price were on their way out and it appears like a steal of a trade.

Kinda of interesting twists and turns to the guard spot this year.    Its ending up like many thought but the Jordan starting Pre season threw a curve ball for a little bit.

Possible he returns. They might just be keeping Adenji on the final roster so as to allow him to return from ir/pup later.

They certainly gave MJ every opportunity to stick. I have wanted to move on from him all along so cool. I admit though the interior line feels quite thin. I hope they have someone in mind.

Doh!

I wonder if that is not Hakeem Adeniji's spot and that he will be brought back tomorrow

Could very well be. I’m sure he will be back on the PS at least. Assuming no one snags him, which seems unlikely.

If he isn't back, I suppose he didn't impress enough on ST. On offense he was clearly more useful than Wilcox or Schreck.

Here we go.

The Bengals today made the following player moves to reach the NFL roster limit of 53:

*Placed two players on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list:

OT Hakeem Adeniji (pectoral)

DE Wyatt Hubert (pectoral)

*Placed one player on the Reserve/Injured list:

DE Joseph Ossai (Knee)

*Terminated the contract of four vested veterans (NOTE: These players are released to free agency and thus free to sign with another team or to re-sign with the Bengals):

DT Mike Daniels

TE Mason Schreck

DE Noah Spence

WR Trent Taylor

*Waived 20 players:

LB Joe Bachie

DE Amani Bledsoe

CB Tony Brown

P Drue Chrisman

S Trayvon Henderson

LB Keandre Jones

G Michael Jordan

DT Kahlil McKenzie

TE Thaddeus Moss

HB Jacques Patrick

CB Antonio Phillips

CB Winston Rose

K Austin Seibert

QB Kyle Shurmur

G Keaton Sutherland

OT Gunnar Vogel

WR Scotty Washington

HB Pooka Williams Jr.

HB Trayveon Williams

I am amazed (after he got a start) and delighted that Michael Jordan was/released

However, this (along with the Price trade) does make the interior OL very very thin, so I would expect that they would sign at least one veteran OG and/or OC  to the active roster very soon

No huge surprises. Closest thing is Moss. I hope Daniels returns. I think he's great for leadership and buy-in.
