Tab Perry

WR | (6'2", 229, 4.5) | UCLA

Strengths: Has very good size and is a strong receiver. Has adequate top-end speed for his size. Has better than average hands when he focuses. He decent leaping ability, sideline awareness and body control. Will come up with a lot of jump balls. Does a nice job of using his size to shield defenders. Is tough to bring down once he gets going as a runner after the catch. Is a big, solid blocker that works in the running game. Also has experience and has been very productive as a kickoff return specialist at the collegiate level.

oh my freaking god no, say it aint so

GET MIKE BROWN OUT OF THE DRAFT ROOM

awful pick, particularly when they ALREADY have many good receivers AND already took a WR in round 4.

This is TERRIBLE DRAFTING.

Do they have a monkey picking out of a hat at this point?

Are they throwing darts at the wall?

The Fact of the matter is We are fans of a team that just doesn't get IT !

The Minnesota Vikings went out into Free Agency and the draft process determined to better their defense and they've done that.

The Baltimore Ravens went into Free Agency and said " What can we do to get past Pittsburgh and improve our offense " , and they did that.

Then you have the Cincinnati Bengals, They entered free agency afraid to make moves, deals, signed only their important offensive players, one who overachieved when Peter Warrick got hurt, didn't sign anyone of value to the defense, just like in '04 and then go out draft 3 very good prospects, decide one who was the premier defensive end in the draft, that' he'l make a better linebacker before ever playing him at defensive end, draft two offensive lineman that possibly could be undrafted free agents, and then draft another wide receiver when we have like a dozen ( 12 ) on the roster and in NFL Europe!

AS it stands right now, we have not done enough to improve our defense. WE didn't address the defensive line, AGAIN ! , We haven't addressed the Safety spot, AGAIN ! , I don't know who does the scouting for them, but they shouldn't do it anymore, cause day 2 is when you make your team. Tell those guys to turn off the Basketball games and get back to concentrating on the draft.!!!!!!

They need to pick for special teams to offense and defense are not the only thing that win games, maybe they picked him up for special teams play u dont know. Mel once again liked this guy and this pick and he knows more on these players then we do so ill just agree with him.

They have clearly made the decision that the DO NOT need a DT or a S. (CJ Mosely went the pick after).

I'm going to Trust marvin, but Tab Perry's scouting report is uninspiring:

Strengths: Has a lot of experience...Has good size and a big frame...Is physical and tough...Knows how to use his body...Is a good athlete...Has decent hands...Isn't afraid to go over the middle.

Weaknesses: Did not play in 2003 due to academic troubles...Not real fast or quick...Isn't a deep threat and won't do much after the catch...Needs to do a better job of concentrating...Technique needs to be refined.

Notes: Could develop into a good possession receiver in the NFL...Will never be a star but has the size and athleticism to make it and play a role for some team.

This is an area of need on our team.

Hard to believe this guy is the solution though.

Hmmmmm, not sure what to think about this.

Perhaps Special Teams does need this pick.

Perhaps PDub AND KDub are both on the back foot.

Perhaps the D has enough talent "coming through" and needs no more attention.

Perhaps I'll stop trying to figure out WTF is going on and wait for it all to unfold.

Perhaps the Bengals WILL make the playoffs this year.

Perhaps I'll open another bottle of The Glenturret and then PERHAPS I'll feel a bit more conifdent about the drafts from Day 2.

Hey this may sound crazy, but what if the Perry guy is converted to a SS? He is 6'2 and some change and is 230lbs. Runs a fast 40 time and has good hands. I don't know how well he can tackle but if he is decent why not put him at SS?

That would be the ONLY reason that would justify this pick. I just went on Bengals.com to look at our roster. Going into the draft, we had TEN WRs and 4 safeties. If we're talking about pushing somebody, could we maybe push Kim Herring or Kevin Kaesviharn?

Wait a minute. Maybe we're going to play the 4-4 this year and only use one safety.

Expect the next pick to come from UCLA to keep up with the trend of same-school picks.

I'm gonna go sit with him. :)

Sheeze! So much for these guy's, and all that "In Marvin We Trust" rhetoric, eh?

Check out his conference call on Bengals.com... He's Cincy roots!

Q: What does it feel like to be picked by the Bengals in the sixth round?

“I was very excited. All of my family is from Cincinnati. I had the chance to work out with Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh. I know it’s going to be fun playing with the Bengals. They are definitely a program on the rise.”

Q: Who are the family members you have in Cincinnati?

“Everybody. I have everyone from my mom and dad to aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and everybody."

I cant believe this fool has talked down to me in the past. Panicing like the sky is falling because we drafted a kick returner in the 6th round. You are cracking me up over here, thanks for the entertainment.

AS it stands right now, we have not done enough to improve our defense.

Yup yup yup.

I do think Pollack and Thurman (and Robinson) will help, but c'mon, we were 28th out of 32 vs. the run last year. Throwing a couple rooks and an aging, second-tier DT at the problem isn't enough, IMHO.

But WTF, at least we won't lack for wideouts. <_<
