ArmyBengal Posted January 12 Report Posted January 12 Yep, certainly rooting on our Texans tonight. ArmyBengal Jr. informed me if the Texans make it to the AFC Championship game, we will be going. I asked who was paying (as if I needed to) and he just gave me the side eye. He quickly followed that up with, "I made the Dean's list Dad". Well played my boy. Well played. 1 Quote

Prophecy Posted January 13 Report Posted January 13 Bengals could have made it a clean sweep for the AFC North if they just fired Zac Taylor. Shittiest Coach is the only one still with a job. Quote

Shittiest Coach is the only one still with a job. Let’s review: 2019 inherits Dalton and the Lewis crew! 2020 inherits COVID, loses Burrow for the last 6 games. 2021 goes to SB with one of the worst OL in the NFL 2022 goes deep in the playoffs with same anemic OL 2023 Burrow goes down in November, even though Browning does well they just can’t punch the team into the playoffs. 2024 OL on the mend and the offense is great but defense can’t stop anything! DC fired immediately! 2025 Burrow goes down in game 2, Browning did nothing as expected from 2023, Zac gets Flacco. Flacco does well but defense still can’t stop ANYTHING! Defense plays better in last 8 games and OL goes from 32 to tied for 9. Let’s see what happens next year IF he has injury prone Burrow, no other major injuries, finally an OL tied for 9th, and a young defense that settled in the last 8 games! IF all this holds up and the team STILL craps the bed, then we can vent and hollar! Fans, in general can be yahoos! They are calling for Siriani’s head!! Three playoffs and is 1-1 in SBs?!?! Ive seen some in here go off ANYTIME a Bengal isn’t perfect! Quote
gregcook69 Posted January 14 Report Posted January 14 Let’s throw this out here. I know it’s the forums and outside of the ‘typical forum venting’ that happens when things go well WITHOUT mistakes, which, realistically, will NEVER happen regardless of ANY team or HC, is there ANY coach that would make all the play calls, play the right players, make the right moves, according to forum decorum? Prophecy Posted January 14 Report Posted January 14 So then, what does Zac Taylor bring to the table? I'm not talking about being perfect, i'm talking about qualified. From day 1, he never was. Guaranteed if he gets fired, he wont even be able to get a OC position. May have to go to College or maybe a positional coach in the NFL. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted January 14 Report Posted January 14 I thought about that as well with Zac getting canned. You hear how Harbaugh is vetting teams he will coach for and has all kinds of pull in his demands should he make them. Zac? He would be stuck with the Bengals front office philosophy of “Hope and Pray” that someone gives him a job. 1 Quote

He’s won 5 playoff games in two years that took the Bengals 23 years to win 5! Plus, Burrow likes and supports Taylor and Cincinnati loves them some Joe Burrow! Quote

gregcook68 Posted January 14 Report Posted January 14 BOTTON LINE: Right or wrong, Taylor is staying! We can rant and rave just like we did for Lewis's 16 years! It's the Brown family and it's what they do and who they are! Quote

Burrow is a Leader and Winner, who has taken his teams to Championship games AT EVERY LEVEL. He is HIM. High School state championship game, College National Championship and NFL Championship (SuperBowl). Yes, he likes Zac Taylor, but he (and the fans) deserve better. If you have faith in a guy with No Juice like Zac Taylor to change things, fine. I don't. I wont go along with the "In Marvin We Trust" all over again. Quote

HoosierCat Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 Looks like Harbaugh is taking the Giants’ job. Good luck with that. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 The Giants have Jaxson Dart at QB, Nabers at WR, Skattebo as a RB and have made some nice additions to their lines through the draft. I could see Harbaugh having success there with another early draft slot (#5 overall). I could be wrong but the Giants were intriguing to me before his arrival. Will be paying attention for sure. COB Posted January 15 Author Report Posted January 15 Hard to keep track of the 9 HC openings because every YouTube thing that pops up on my feed is “Who will the Wise and Ancient Steelers select for their next generational coach?” Supposedly a great job. One caveat: their players are old, even on defense, and they have no QB and no receivers. So if you can get a team with no players to make a deep playoff run, the Pittsburgh job is for you. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 The Giants job is a nightmare not because of anything to do with the team except that in plays in media hell, a.k.a. New York. I'm sure Harbaugh knows what he's getting into, but all the same it I guarantee it will be an order of magnitude worse than he expects. (To put it another way, if the Bengals played in NY Zac would no longer be head coach because the media would have roasted him alive and ate his bbq'd corpse for lunch.) On the Steelers front, the hagiography around the franchise is annoying, but really not a bad opening. Fans were so sick of Tomlin that the new guy will get some breathing room. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 Good point about the Giants Hoosier. Don’t disagree. The Steelers? Not sure why but something tells me they really could pick Skippy the Towel Boy as their next head coach and they will win a Super Bowl again before us. Quote

You KNOW what’s going to happen. Still you issued an ultimatum! What are your options? Walk away and fan up with another franchise? Or just keep on pissing and morning in here like the rest of us do, expecting the worst, but ‘hoping’ for the best? Quote

I thank God for my son who about 15 years ago decided he was a Houston Texans fan. It provided me a new opportunity to really root for another team and my 1b. team was born. While it hasn't always been roses and they haven't won a Super Bowl either, it divvies up my attention. I strongly encourage every Bengals fan to find their own 1b. team and enjoy football elsewhere. Yes, keep coming to Bengalszone and continue pissing and moaning. It's what we have literally ALWAYS done here precisely because we do KNOW what the Brown family is going to give us. Yes, we hope for the best as I've long commented about the Bengals utilizing the "Hope and Pray" method. However, I'm from Cincinnati and the Bengals are my team. The fact many of us have been coming here for 20 years is all you really need to know. What can I say? 2026 is our year... Until it isn't. 1 Quote

My post was replying to Prophecy, but I’m glad you weighed in as well. I’m older and born and raised in Dayton! I’m so old Cleveland was the only team in Ohio. Dad liked PB so it wasn’t hard to be a Browns fan. When the Browns did PB dirty and he started the Bengals in 1968, I was just a few months shy of 15. Since Cincinnati was only 50 miles down I75, we were already Reds fans and liked PB, so it wasn’t hard to switch teams! (I was fortunate to go to game #5 of the 1975 WS and game 1 of the 1976 WS. I would have went to a game in the 1990 WS if I had still been in Dayton!) Even though I moved to Florida in 1981, I’m STILL and always will be a Bengals fan but also root for and follow the Texans because of CJ. Since my wife and son like the Eagles I pull for them as well from the NFC. Hoping to see a Lombardi in Cincinnati before I go to The House! Quote
HoosierCat Posted January 20 Report Posted January 20 Pitcher interviewing for the Bucs’s OC job. Apparently ok’d by Taylor since they’re looking for an OC with play calling duties, versus our OC who apparently gets people drinks and snacks during the game, or something. Quote
Prophecy Posted January 21 Report Posted January 21 Chargers to hire Mike McDaniel as Offensive Coordinator. Props to them. They're willing to open their wallets and pay an Offensive Coordinator more than the Bengals pay their Head Coach. They're trying not to waste any more of Justin Herbert's years. Brown family take note... 1 Quote
Stripes Posted January 21 Report Posted January 21 If Pitcher moves on, they're going to promote from within (barring a Callahan return). External OC candidates are going to want to call plays. I'm already mad. 1 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted January 21 Report Posted January 21 My hope should Pitcher move on is that Joe Brady doesn't get a head coaching gig, decides to move on from the Bills who fired McDermitt and becomes our new OC. Then if things go south and Zac finally gets the axe, they have an internal coach worthy of getting a shot. Yes, he called plays in Buffalo, but again this should be the type of change the Bengals are looking for. "He oversaw Josh Allen's MVP season and guided the Bills to top NFL offensive rankings, focusing on both running and passing game success." I really don't care about his previous relationship with Burrow and Chase while at LSU together, but that's certainly not a bad thing and maybe would get Zac to give up play calling and focus on larger coaching issues. You know, like making sure the defense doesn't suck major ass again in 2026... Quote
