ANY...... veteran qb would be a massive upgrade in competence over Browning.    Is Flacco enough to get them back in the race for playoffs or just make a 20 point beat down into a 11 point beat down?

Flacco was QB stability enough for the Browns to make a playoff run.   Bengals defense isn't a good as that one.   Flacco has played more under center and more a play action QB.   So?    He can push the ball down the field.  So we'll see, I guess.

Zac being appropriately wishy-washy but Shefty says Bert is expected to start against GB. No real surprise there.

True.  Flacco has already had 1 game week prep for Packers defense.   Didn't really play very good stat wise.  They did beat the Packers.

I’m whacko for Flacco.  That is all.

I was a little disturbed for a second when I thought you were “Whackin’ for Flacco”. Like I’m not sure why you would share that, but we are all like family around here so why not?

Do you COB !!

On my phone I tried to watch a video entitled, “Joe Flacco’s Been a Bad Boy, Stepmom Has to Punish Him.”  It wouldn’t load, thanks dumb fuck republicans in the Ohio Stsrehouse!

Is there an award for being the shiniest turd in the toilet that is the Bengals?

I guess they figured Flacco is 3rd in the NFL in Interceptions (6) and Browning is 2nd (8)...so Flacco is technically an improvement?

Vegas hasn't moved the line at all. They're unimpressed.

USA Today has it down to 14. Flacco being worth half a point seems about right.

Flacco should be an instant upgrade.   Now all other units of the team needed to be held accountable to get back on track.     Only thing I'll take issue with is Flacco supposedly being benched.   He was the best option for winning with Colts and Browns.  Those organizations needed to find out about other QBs.

Well, I will be rooting for Flacco for sure.
I will probably watch this week just to watch him play and see how it turns out.
If nothing else, it should be interesting.  Just hoping in a good way...

4 days is short order to pick up what teams take months to get in place.

Flacco is definitely an upgrade, but that speaks more to how terrible Jake Browning has been than anything Flacco has done lately. And I'm sure that a big, unspoken, reason he was the choice versus Cousins, Wilson or Winston was that he comes waaaaaaaay cheaper than they would have. Yes, the front office made a move and that was necessary, but it was the minimum one possible. Hence the notable lack of enthusiasm on the part of most fans.

All of that said there is reason to believe Flacco can win some games. I don't think he will have any problems picking up Zac's offense. It's not that complicated and he's been doing this for 20 flipping years. Our oline might be struggling mightily, but so is Cleveland's. I think PFF has their unit rated 27th overall. Flacco took 9 sacks in 4 games, exactly the same numbers as Browning. In short, he's used to crappy protection.

(What would really help him most is if the line could learn to freaking run block, but I digress...)

I still think the Packers games is a loss, but I feel a lot more positive about the Steelers, Jets and Bears games with Flacco running the show. 5-4 at the bye is still probably a pipe dream, but I can at least dimly see it, for now.

Hey, it could limit play options. That said, Flacco is likely an upgrade over Browning at this stage, bringing more experience and stability to the position. The question is whether he can adapt to the current offensive scheme and protect the football consistently. While he may not be perfect, Flacco could offer a steadier presence than Browning, giving the team a slightly better chance to execute plays effectively.

Rivers listed as starting RG on this week’s depth chart. Risner listed as backup at both guard spots.

Newton staring over CTB.
