AMPHAR Posted September 17 Report Posted September 17 Bengals have never won in Minny. There you go. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 17 Author Report Posted September 17 Vikes put starting RB Aaron Jones on IR, so he's definitely out. Signed Cam Akers to their PS. https://purpleptsd.com/2025/vikings/top_news/second-vikings-starter-ir/ Quote
AMPHAR Posted September 17 Report Posted September 17 I think its appropriate to throw this in here consider all the Toe Burrow hot takes. The TOP FA guard this past offseason. Vikings won the sweepstakes! So far he is among the very bottom of pass block win rate playing RG for the Vikes. So hopefully the Bengals can get more pressure this game. But since there are a ton of "don't invest/fix OL" narratives going around. IF the Bengals would have signed him and let Higgins go that's what you would have had early this year so far. I think the Whitworth article floating around touches on all of the difficult segments. 1. Burrow doesn't proctect himself. 2. Scheme/Game Plan is one of the toughest to play as OL 3. They have not drafted a linemen they deem worthy of a 2nd contract in a long time. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 17 Author Report Posted September 17 Wednesday injury report: DNP Stewart (ankle) Limited CTB (hammy), Logan Wilson (ankle) Full Fairchild (shoulder) Quote
Coltsguy451 Posted September 18 Report Posted September 18 I don't know what to say anymore, friends Wentz is a shit QB Browning is not...c'mon 1 1 Quote
Coltsguy451 Posted September 18 Report Posted September 18 Traded the whole farm for that faker Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 18 Author Report Posted September 18 Good read from Weintraub. I pretty much agree with everything. https://www.cincinnatimagazine.com/article/the-bengals-take-one-step-up-a-gazillion-steps-back/ Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 18 Report Posted September 18 Quote That could lead to the ultimate drama: The return of Joe Burrow in the last week of the season, ready to lead the Bengals to the postseason. I mentioned this earlier. What if the Bengals are on the cusp of the post season and Browning has led them to that point? Do you stick with Browning or go back to Burrow who hasn't taken a snap since week 2? Granted it may never come to pass and there might not be a reason to have to consider it, but I am. I'm inclined to think that if Browning got you that far, you stick with what got you there. Burrow would be more of a question mark at that point, having only had two games under his belt in nearly a whole calendar year. What do I know though? Maybe Browning doesn't even make it that far and gets hurt too... 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 18 Author Report Posted September 18 I think it depends on the nature of Browning’s run. They have 2 wins now and the rest of the schedule includes a banged up Vikings team, Jets, Bears, Pats, Fins, Cards and Cleveland again at home. Even with Jake those are winnable games. Then you have the Lions, Packers, Broncos, Bills, plus Pitt and Baltimore x2 each. That’s 8 games against real teams (ok I don’t know if Pitt is real this year but those games are always tough) and it’s not hard to come up with as many L’s. So if they make the playoffs, how did they do it? Did they just mostly feast on average to poor teams? If so they are probably one and done in the playoffs so if Joe is available, put him in. Or did Jake show he can beat good teams? In that case, ride or die with Browning. 1 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 18 Report Posted September 18 Good take Hoosier. I'll buy that. Well, Sunday is the start of this whole thing, so guess we find out. Go get'em Mr. Stephanie Niles !! 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 18 Author Report Posted September 18 Over at cbs Breech games out the rest of the season and comes up at 9-8. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/can-the-2-0-bengals-survive-joe-burrows-injury-predicting-how-their-schedule-plays-out-over-final-15-weeks/ tl;dr he has them winning most of the winnable games but not being able to beat any of the good teams (tho he does give them a split with Pitt). That would suck but also is a scenario I can very easily see happening. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 18 Report Posted September 18 Well, when Browning started last time in 2023 we ended up at 9-8 and finished in the AFC North basement. I wasn't happy with picking at #18, but we netted Mims. If 9-8 nets us another solid starter, I'd be good. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 18 Author Report Posted September 18 23 hours ago, HoosierCat said: Wednesday injury report: DNP Stewart (ankle) Limited CTB (hammy), Logan Wilson (ankle) Full Fairchild (shoulder) Stewart still DNP. CTB also downgraded to DNP. Apparently was not present today. Wilson ungraded to full. Fairchild full. DJ Turner (hammy) added. Was limited. Quote
volcom69 Posted September 18 Report Posted September 18 Find a freaking running game, Browning shouldn’t have to throw it 45 times a game. Throw some screens, throw some short passes, whatever the defense gives you, and don’t make this more difficult then it has to be. They have a hell of an offense, so find a way to make it work. Hopefully the defense can make some stops, create some turnovers keep them in the game. There all going to have to come together and find ways to win with Browning. 1 Quote
volcom69 Posted September 19 Report Posted September 19 Hmmm watching the Bills, run the freaking ball, Allen going under center running the ball, play action fake under center. What the hell Zac look at all this stuff you can do to confuse a defense. Why why can’t Zac run a freaking offense that uses the running game and play action pass!!!!! Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 19 Author Report Posted September 19 Shemar out CTB doubtful Turner questionable Nice of the secondary to go so easy on Wentz. Quote
Stripes Posted September 20 Report Posted September 20 Newton for CTB might be an upgrade (especially if he plays slot and Dax goes outside). Quote
Allentown21 Posted September 20 Report Posted September 20 A win here is massive. The burrow injury frickin sucks but I get the feeling he's going to gut it out and be back sooner than ppl think. 2 months max imo. I still think the Bengals are the best most dangerous team as long as they keep their head above water before burrow gets back. Then the goal is to be on a roll entering the playoffs. I'm hoping if the bills make the playoffs we can avoid you guys. I didn't like how we looked vs Miami. Hang in there. I'm sorry about the injury to burrow. I think at this point he's simply got to just go down like Brady years ago. If KC loses to the g men which would surprise me I don't think they're making it. But who knows now with 7 teams getting in A 9 win KC team barely getting in kind of scares me lol. 1 Quote
Stripes Posted September 20 Report Posted September 20 It's difficult to have much enthusiasm for obvious reasons. But if they find a way in Minnesota I'll be all in. Browning can hold a 3-0 team together long enough for Joe to return when it matters. 2-1 is a very different feeling. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 20 Author Report Posted September 20 Things are bound to be janky with the qb change so a loss would not shock me or anything. The one silver lining in that case is that it’s a non-conference game. They don’t have the margin for many L’s but the NFC games are the least harmful ones. All that said I think they pull this one out. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 20 Report Posted September 20 It wouldn’t surprise me to see Browning do much better having a week to making all the #1 snaps and working with the starters. He will be motivated because he hates the Vikings as well. I think the Bengals win this one. Then again… a loss won’t shock me either. Quote
